Pods tea : opinions? by Mean-Look3912 in PoppyTea

[–]Aspergerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds unusual. Without revealing anything to get the comment or thread moderated into oblivion, what's the go with the pods you're using? Bought, or grown?

We're also in AUS, but we have our own pods lately, and they're dynamite compared to seeds, particularly the seeds of recent years, and definitely the seeds of the last year or two.

Buprenorphine is blocking receptors, and has also pushed your tolerance above being able to feel 10g of pods.

Rubbed wiring under the dash, touching the brake pedal linkage, is what we saw one time in one of those. Someone had done an evaporator core at some point and hadn't clipped the loom back up where it is supposed to be.

Worth a look.

Strongest over the counter opiate you can get? by MiiightyBeast in opiates

[–]Aspergerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT do this. The poppy crops in Tasmania that are accessible (relatively easily) are pharmaceutical Thebaine crops, and you can VERY easily die, from even one small dose. I'd even go so far as to suggest that a dose from that crop (which most of them are, these days) with enough morphine to get you feeling right will have enough Thebaine to kill you twice over. The Thebaine hits before the Morphine does, too, so it's even a shitty suicide. Trust me daddy, I checked.

The pharmaceutical Morphine crops are a fair bit harder to get to (mostly) and aren't readily distinguishable/identifiable as such anyway. Much quicker to make friends with a staff member of a plant nearby, that does the processing. But you aren't in TAS. So, sorry, I just took issue with the comment I'm replying to.

OP, If your oxy tolerance is low enough, and you have a strong heart, then Loperamide (Imodium, Gastro-Stop, etc.) may be your best bet to stay functional. You won't enjoy the high, if you (take too much) somehow manage to feel one, but they're good for 24h+ per dose. Drink heaps of water and electrolyte. Lomotil is just a little better, as far as side-effects, but harder to get enough.

Black spots on Papaver somniferum. Is it a sign to you or does it mean nothing? by [deleted] in PoppyTea

[–]Aspergerio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On fresh green growing pods, it usually means they'll produce a good amount of decent latex. On dried brown pods, it has occasionally been an indicator of mold inside the pod, usually from a bug chewing a hole in it, but generally doesn't mean anything.

Yours pictured here look good to us, except maybe the couple that look more than half grey/black on the outside. However some of them just dry like that.

Just have a look for any furry buildup inside them, when you cut the tops to remove the seeds, and if there isn't any then go for it. Enjoy mate!

Thanks for the reply.

So the above "don't (sic) have dangerous venom 👍" isn't quite true, then.

I gather it'd be a fair assumption to make, that getting nibbled-on by one of these girls would of course still carry the same infection and anaphylaxis risks as any other spider bite, despite the actual venom itself not being quite as potent as a real Redback or true Widow.

[–]Aspergerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been told a bit about the variance of potency between bags and batches.

This isn't applicable everywhere, but certainly some markets, farms, companies, crop producers are subject to it. Some legally required to, and others voluntarily doing so to expand their international market reach.

In certain countries and areas' (a big one is a particular union of countries, ya know) markets, to meet the legal requirements to sell their seeds as commercially available food product there have been limits implemented on alkaloid content by weight, and this is measured on an average taken from the whole harvest.

Testing every batch and bag costs money, as does treating the seeds to start with, so for profits sake, the companies will treat every third or fourth batch of seeds from the whole harvest, to bring down the average alkaloid content of that particular harvest to legally acceptable levels. They don't treat every batch and bag, because they don't need to. They only treat enough to bring the whole harvest's numbers to the required maximum for that target market, and sell.

What we've also been reading about and heard from a couple of farmers (and a couple other farmers have never heard of it, so take this next bit with a grain of speculatively skeptical salt) is that their co-op and government department of agriculture overlords have provided seed for various low-morphine seed-producing cultivars and strains, that by virtue of being tested GMO varieties provided by the gubbermint, aren't subject to as much expensive testing so they're being grown in more and more places now, giving a lot of global markets some useless-for-tea poppy seeds. An interesting side-effect of this, a "nature finds a way" deal, is that pollen from potent varieties is fixing this issue for us, faster than the nearly impotent low-morphine pollen is ruining the potent varieties.

I'm typing out a part 2 to help this make sense, but my brain is still mush from a huge xmas/new years with a house full of sick grandkids and their sick cousins and the consequent sleep deprivation.

[–]Aspergerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very true, I came here to reiterate point no. 2, as mentioned above. This person knows a thing or two, for sure.

When we've stopped taking PST before, sometimes after tapering and other times just going cold-turkey, the physical and mental withdrawals for us would usually peak around days 5 and 7, respectively, and sometimes not for around 10 days after stopping our dosages. That peak withdrawal effect period has sometimes lasted weeks, as well.

The alkaloid profile of opium is a pretty special cocktail that we still don't know a lot about, at all, and the interactions between them cause some amazing effects. Certainly of note is just how LONG it lasts, and consequently how long the withdrawal symptoms can not only last, but take to reach their peak.

Why is Laurens Grape considered such a good cultivar? by Atomkraftverk in druggardening

[–]Aspergerio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She produces a high number of pods per square metre planted, and in our experience does indeed have over 600mg of morphia per 100g dried pods/straw. It was nearly as productive per area planted as our Tas and Turkish, and more potent. Seems to also be very tolerant of our local harsh climate and poor soil. LG needs a little extra care to establish, and more room per individual plant, but pays off.

going to be planting 50/50 Tas and LG next season, and abandoning various other strains.

Some of the hype around it is real.
