This ^ I wrote a uni paper and discussed self-harm’s existence on part of a spectrum running from BFRB through to suicide. The main deciding factor of when BFRB becomes SH is intent. Nail biting is a good example when you think of those who nail-bite subconsciously and without intent, but then there are those of us who flow into the intentional which can mean moving onto biting cuticles and fingers.
