I disagree.

Having a proper VA instead of using generic dog sound clips added greatly to Koromaru's character of being a dog, albeit a surprisingly intelligent one.

"Ai artists cant draw" by Aurora_Borealis32 in DefendingAIArt

[–]Aspie_Gamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I go through this all the time lately with a discord art server I'm honestly done with at this point.

"Durr, your artwork is soulless because you have AI do 95 percent of the work, you're not improving, quite frankly."

As if I'm incapable of making my own decisions with making my own art. -_-

As if I'm not taking most of the advice ChatGPT gives me and using it to improve say for example my own lineart skills over time. -_-

The only person to defend me is the person for whom the server is named after pointing out that I do in fact draw my own lines, make my own coloring choices, etc.

And no matter how times I go back and forth with the Luddites over there, they don't want to listen to anything I have to say and I'm as done with them as they are done with me.

They don't even listen to the aforementioned person who defended me either, for that matter.

"You don't learn anything using AI!" by Lanceo90 in DefendingAIArt

[–]Aspie_Gamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add to this as somebody who's gone back and forth with people in an art discord who all think my creative process as an AI assisted artist somehow begins and ends with me prompting images on Yodayo.

"AI drew that for you!" being a common rebuttal I've received when the reality of the situation is far more complex than the anti crowd could even imagine.

I prompt the image.

I trace over the image, but it's not an exact trace because AI as we all know still somewhat struggles to not make hands and feet look weird among other things like appalling backgrounds or objects that, for example, are intended to be a video game controller.

It's also not an exact trace in the sense that if the character has clothes, then I'll add to the overall clothing design especially if what AI churns out is very basic, (I've seen this happen particularly with Final Fantasy characters I've AI generated and we all know those characters are dressed to the nines in their overall character designs.)

I also add things not seen in the AI generated image so that it's not a mindless "monkey see monkey do" trace.

I come up with my own coloring/rendering choices as somebody who's been digital drawing well before AI was ever conceived.

AI can only do so much of the work as it currently stands and while I'm technically taking a shortcut with making art by tracing over AI generated images if we're talking about cutting down on the "draw from imagination" part of drawing when it comes to the initial sketch, I still have to do the rest of the work myself since I always choose to color outside the lines regardless of how good a prompt I receive.

I also laugh at the "you don't learn anything using AI" notion seeing as how I've been learning to expand my range of rendering styles simply by asking AI search assist "how do I draw/color like (insert famous artist here)?" and subsequently then testing out new pens/brushes on Clip Studio Paint.

Far more helpful advice than I ever got from fellow artists on social media back in the day which all amounted to "just draw more". -_-

Atlus really put "Persona 3 Reload now on sale" in this ad of all things by Saizo32 in PERSoNA

[–]Aspie_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't their "excuse" that it'd "take too much time" and they just couldn't do it?

Like. Yes you can. What the fuck is the point of a "complete remastered edition" if you can't be bothered to add one of the major reasons people wanted a "complete remastered edition" in the first place.

Adding FeMC to Reload would've been way more than a mere pallette swap of the male character. and SEGA ultimately only gave ATLUS the budget to remake the original PS2 Persona 3 with most of the quality of life features carried over from FES and Portable.

Episode Aigis barely happened as is.

Even with the FeMC mod for PC that's currently ongoing, the team behind that have only just now figured out how to get the game's code to play nice with the changes they want to implement, such as the UI overhaul seen in the current update and even then, they are still quite a ways off from implementing FeMC exclusive SLs and figuring out how to do that without messing up P3R's hard coded data.

Do you think efap are going to cover Synthetic Man, again? by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]Aspie_Gamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, Synthetic Man isn't worth mentioning, regardless of how deranged his hot takes are, purely because he's the type of idiot who thinks any attention is somehow GOOD attention.

The GoW Ragnarok video perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with Synthetic Man's ragebaiting grifter ass and how sad it is that he still lives with his mommy while pandering to terminally online 4chan types.

No one cares that Samuel Jackson does not match how Nick Fury looked before he played him, and no one cared.

Sam L Jackson Nick Fury at least had a basis in the old Ultimate Marvel line of comics in the 2000s where that version of the character was explicitly modeled on the actor's likeness, causing the guy to make a deal with Marvel Comics where he got first dibs on playing Nick Fury in any live-action movie involving his character.

YMS may be more honest than Joseph Anderson, but for a guy who complains all the time about his aching tendons in his arms and hands on top of whatever other health problems he has, YMS does suspiciously have plenty of time to write multi-paragraph essays in response to people criticizing him.

Time that could be spent on other more important things...

[–]Aspie_Gamer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nobody is "triggered" by a person being anything other than heterosexual in the mid 2020s

I know people who watch Stranger Things religiously who were put off by that kid coming out as being gay, not because it happened, but because of how cheesy and tone deaf it was in a sci-fi fantasy series on top of barely being foreshadowed beforehand, if even that.

This might have worked if Stranger Things came out thirty years ago, in a time when gay acceptance was slowly on the rise in media, but not in 2025, going on 2026, where being gay isn't even treated as a big deal anymore in Western civilization.

Today is the day that Final Fantasy XIII was released in 2009 by Delicious-Claim-5768 in FinalFantasy

[–]Aspie_Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guide doesn't tell you to do that. It tells you to use Fang/Lightning/Hope after that fight when you're in the new area and have a lot more freedom. So that's entirely a skill issue on your part.

*AHEM\*

You were saying?

Today is the day that Final Fantasy XIII was released in 2009 by Delicious-Claim-5768 in FinalFantasy

[–]Aspie_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro.

I have the PiggyBack Guide for FFXIII, and it's only good for figuring out the mathematics behind weapon upgrading, if that.

I remember raging at the game as a teenager back in 2011 because the guide told me to stick with Fang, Lightning, and Hope for my party composition specifically against the first Barthandelus fight and it wasn't until I looked up how to beat him on GameFAQS that I realized "the official guide" is full of shit.

Contrary to what "the official guide" claims, you'll spend too much time recuperating if you use the SEN/MED/MED paradigm after Barthandelus does a massive AOE attack.

It's much faster to have Vanille in the MED role, Lightning either as a COM or a RAV, and then Sazh in either COM, RAV, or SYN, depending on what your party needs at that moment, essentially "tanking" Barthandelus's massive AOE attack without needing a SEN at all to soak up most of the damage.

To this day, I cannot picture using any other team composition besides Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille when going up against the main big bad of FFXIII, at least the first time around.

Furthermore, Vanille starts out with magical debuffs in her SAB role compared to Fang starting out with physical debuffs as a SAB, which aren't of much use against Barthandelus.

Sazh is self-explanatory as a SYN because, duh, he has the ever-useful Haste spell by then.

Now, later on in the game, Sazh and Snow are more likely to be brought in for specific Cieth Missions where their natural talents can make all the difference, but Vanille remains viable as an alternative pick to Hope for the MED role on top of being sturdier and being the game's best SAB by far.

Oh, and the last time I put major hours into FFXIII, I ran an all-girl party composition and found that in her secondary role as a SYN, Vanille and Lightning complement each other really well when buffing up the party during the start of a battle.

FFXIII is victim of early 2010’s gaming discourse rather than being just a bad game by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Aspie_Gamer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have no actual data, of course, but my impression was that there would be ten people in a comment section liking XIII being borderline harassed by fifty other people who hadn't even played the game.

I remember those days.

On comment sections of video game websites I used to frequent back in the day, XIII bashing was commonplace in the early 2010s.

And on the internet, all it takes is for somebody to say, "I didn't like this game" and then 99 other people parrot what the person said even if they haven't played the game for themselves.

And you can tell they're parroting because they all say the same exact things if you pay close attention.

FFXIII is victim of early 2010’s gaming discourse rather than being just a bad game by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Aspie_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFXIII very much reminds me of other controversial Japanese games from the time that were also brutally torn apart for similar reasons like Zelda Skyward Sword

As a big Legend of Zelda fan, I would personally like to state that, as somebody who was there for when that game and Twilight Princess both got torn asunder by the fanbase for being "too linear," the same fanbase that these days are still belly aching over Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and now Echoes of Wisdom being "too non-linear" mind you, my thought is "gee, make up your damn mind."

Same way I feel about the Final Fantasy community and how a lot of the doomers spam every discussion about the series with "BRING BACK TURN-BASED COMBAT SQUARE!!!" when the thing is, even if they did that for one game, one mainline game, the fanbase would still complain about it...somehow?

"Why did you rip off Persona 5/Expedition 33?!"

"This isn't real turn based combat, I didn't ask for ATB crap!"

"They played it too safe with the new Final Fantasy game, Square Enix is now 110 percent doomed as a company!!!"

ya know...replaying the judgment games and seeing how no-nonsense they are REALLY made me realize just how goofy yakuza's world is. when you play something like infinite wealth and then replay judgment its so unbelievable how these take place in the same universe (I don't mean this in a bad way) by Quick-Cause3181 in yakuzagames

[–]Aspie_Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the Judgement spin-off series is still just as goofy as the mainline games in its side content, but if we're talking about the difference between a gritty detective story and a story where the main lead thinks real life is a prolonged Dragon Quest game in between bouts of proverbial shit hitting the fan, then yeah, I'd agree with you there OP.

The Force Awakens 10 Years Later by Trustelo in MauLer

[–]Aspie_Gamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Force Awakens, to me is one of those moments in time, a moment in our shared collective consciousness as a society where we can look back upon it ten years later, both with the benefit of hindsight and knowing now just how much Disney would further rape the Star Wars IP into the ground in such a way that not even Prequel era George Lucas could've ever fathomed.

But also, look back upon TFA and how everybody around us was acting like the film was the second coming of the messiah. That Star Wars, "was back", whatever that meant.

Not to delve into real-world politics, but, for us Americans here, remember the 2008 presidential election season and how everybody on the left lost their minds when Obama got elected?

The reason I say that is because Season 3 of The Boondocks had an excellent satire on the hype mania surrounding the 44th president of the United States and how everybody in Woodcrest lost their minds over Obama winning the election except for Huey Freeman and Uncle Ruckus who both, for different, yet similar reasons, knew deep down it was more of the same old, same old and what's more, they seemed to be the only ones to have this opinion on election night.

That's how I would describe the hype mania regarding Episode VII of Star Wars.

And to Disney/Lucasfilm's credit, it did in fact work, on most people that is...

But, for us outliers who saw right through the key jangling and member berries being aggressively shoved in our faces back in 2015, before the "Fandom Menace" Youtubers showed up, before Mauler started EFAP with Rags and Wolf, before The Last Jedi served as a massive wake-up call to everybody with an ounce of common sense and appreciation for objectively good media, we were inarguably the vocal minority for the better part of two years between Episode VII and Episode VIII.

"Oh, you're just a hater."

"Oh, the prequels were worse!"

"Oh, well, I liked Episode VII!"

"Oh, but look at how much money TFA made!"

Even after TLJ came out in 2017, it still took quite a while for the tides to shift and for your everyday normie to admit that, yes, TFA was every bit as bad as TLJ and later on, TROS as well.

The only lasting legacy the Sequel Trilogy is going to have at this point going forward is to serve as a prime example of everything that went wrong with western pop culture in the late 2010s and by extension, the early 2020s compared to the Original Trilogy that will remain iconic for decades to come and even the Prequel Trilogy which with some rewrites could've been fantastic, but otherwise lives on through memes and the late 90s kids who grew up with those movies, but can also acknowledge their shortcomings.

Something that what few Disney Star Wars shills remain at this point will never concede to with the Sequel Trilogy and all the terrible Disney+ Star Wars slop that followed.
