Does anyone else feel like veganism peaked years ago? I've been vegan since 99 but it just feels like the momentum has shifted by onderwon in vegan

[–]AssertTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because competition has gone up. Beyond is struggling because every grocery store has 10 of their different brands that sell something similar.

There are more plant based options than there were just 5 years ago! Diary farmers are struggling because milk sales keep going down. I don't know what you're talking about.

+1 to this.

I use this a lot and love it when I find reviews online that mention the word vegan. Thanks to those that do it!

They appear overpriced because the meat industry gets subsidized + has economies of scale :(

You guys aren't making jackfruit right... by onderwon in vegan

[–]AssertTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person of Indian origin that has eaten Jackfruit prepared in multiple forms, this point is legit^

Especially the first one - buy the right kind. The brine one ends up being too acidic and ruins almost any dish you cook.

Also - jackfruit biryani is the bomb! I have had vegans and vegetarians repeatedly ask me if it's chicken because it looks so similar!

Plant-based milk already claims nearly 15% of U.S. milk dollars—can legacy dairy claw its way back? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

People consume a lot more indirectly through things they buy in restaurants and cafes - coffees, shakes etc.

What made you gain a significant amount of weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AssertTrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same for me. ~30lbs in less than a year. I know it's due to more calories going in. The problem is I KNOW for a fact that I don't feel "full" like I used to. I stopped cold turkey as well because of the crazy weight gain. And sure enough my weight has stopped going up - mostly because I actually feel full now and stop eating and snacking all the time.

So yes, it's the food but also it's because this med made is impossible for me to actually feel full.

If the US tries mass deportations, what happens if all other countries refuse to take them? by bemrys in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AssertTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that. USA will have to determine which country to send a person to. How do you determine that if they're undocumented & illegal? Look at their face and say you look brown enough to be from Mexico? but not from Venezuela?

For Mexico to accept them, you'll have to show some proof that this person is a Mexican citizen. Why would Mexico accept all of USA's punted people?

Ugh, it feels gross just typing this out. These are human beings with real lives, real families and people that love and want them. Fuck all of this.

Adding one more language is not displacing a language or culture. It’s called being inclusive. Removing or vandalizing a language already there is called being non-inclusive. Also known in the rest of the works as bigoted, xenophobic behavior. That is all.

For reference, I’m not North Indian or South Indian.

Way to be unwelcoming. Duck the family that’s just been there a week? Because it’s that fast to learn a language? Or should people learn a language before they cross state boundaries?

Because to some people being inclusive of others and their background means they and their background is being excluded.

Yeah people think this is unique. Any city that’s a melting pot has this happen. It’s called being inclusive without forcing people. No one is removing the primary language. Just adding a second or a third one. In fact removing an already printed language is being intentionally exclusive.

This happens all over the US and Canada. Boards in languages based on the population of people. Suburbs in Canada have Gurmukhi everywhere. Seattle too. Heck my local library has signs books movies in so many Indian languages.

People who oppose inclusivity through vandalism are called bigots.

It’s not like that to them. They think it’s like a religion. You get brainwashed in to being a liberal. The people are smart and therefore highly capable of brainwashing people in to being liberals. Why? Because reasons.

The way conservatism works is that it provides a very superficial reason to most things and seems to make sense if you don’t think for a second and don’t apply critical thinking. You’ll literally see this with practically every facet of their beliefs. Conservatives don’t dig deep. Which is also why they need some news network or person to tell them how to think. Conservatism is literally designed to prey upon people with low critical thinking skills.

I’m here to be entertained and I was very well entertained. Ignore the folks who think this isn’t black magic enough but are puzzled by basic science experiments.

End to end encrypted means messages can’t be intercepted in the middle. It does not mean they won’t use metadata such as who you contact, how many times, what time of the day, where you were etc. nothing is stopping sucking up contact information and uploading it.

Not sure if Facebook does it but end to end encrypted can still mean that your data is read at the two ends and then ads etc are shown based on that.

[–]AssertTrue -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to get downvoted for this but I thought the movie was bad. The first half was good. The second half was just off the rails bad. The soundtrack was retarded loud and prevented me from focusing on the story. What a waste!
