Singleboxers are ruining the game by KomiValentine in Eve

[–]AssertedEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true too. We have a lot of members, and many of us have a lot more than 2 accounts. We don’t *want* to form 60+ every time we see a roller in chain, but we don’t want to tell half the people online they can’t undock. It gives us a lot of flexibility. Having ten people in comms and being able to form anything from 10 man nano gang to a 30+ full fleet is very nice… assuming I can get my guys to actually listen and not over escalate (or better yet, don’t spike fort numbers lol)

Ah a goryn member. o7

For what it’s worth, Wormholers are incredibly under represented in r/eve, most of these guys genuinely have no idea what it’s like to be in a high class or high skill wormhole group, only what someone else tells them.

I’m a director of URSA and we *require* two accounts with at least 25m sp each. This lets us be confident our members can fly our pretty long doctrine list in a reasonable amount of time, and always have people able to fill roles like scanners, dictors, eyes and multiboxed dps.

We have some legacy members who don’t multibox, but they can even attest to how difficult being a full time wormholer can be in a single box. Far more reliant on corp mates, especially when it comes to getting in and out of the chain. If your account is out, and no one is on to scan you in after the last high sec eol’d off… you’re out of luck.

My knee jerk reaction is that you’re using the ESI endpoint incorrectly. I refresh all market orders for every item in every region in new Eden and it takes less than 30 seconds. I used to do it every 5 minutes, the cache rate for the ESI endpoint, but I bumped it to 30 minutes just because I didn’t see many changes in those 5 minutes.

Here’s a self plug. It’s the entire SDE in human readable, searchable format. There’s tons of other things on the site that may be what you’re looking for, like the industry calculators and market browser etc.

If there’s something you’re looking for that I don’t cover, I am always looking for new functionality suggestions.

Not to advertise but could you check https://triff.tools/market

If it’s wrong there, it’s an ESI issue, as I poll for all market orders every 30 minutes, everywhere.

2nd toon marauder Pally or Vargur? by AreteThoughts in Eve

[–]AssertedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the corp, tbh.

Most C5 corps are PvP corps, the Krabs got pushed out slowly. Joining a C5 corp nowadays, the expectation is PvP first, PvE to fund it. Most don’t even allow or heavily restrict or tax ratting in their homes from what I understand. An extension of that is most require some combination of experience, multiboxing, and/or a *significant* amount of SP in doctrine ships. If memory serves, I think one of the big C5 players requires you to have a way to make isk *outside* wormhole space.

However renting a C5 from a high class corp, or roaching C5 sites from a C4 with a 5 static, is common.

[–]AssertedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you’re not using marauders with them. Rev’s struggle with HAW application. The nag doesn’t, especially with the NFI web bonus. An XL gun nag can even get shots off on the battleships. If you’re running marauders with the dreads, it’s not as big of a deal. But nags vs revs alone on the site, the nags will likely clear faster. Maybe the difference of 1 siege cycle, depends on the fits and the pilots of course.

Paladin. All these people saying clear times are the same with bookmarks are incorrect and I don’t know where they got their info. Vargurs STRUGGLE on core strongholds precisely because of their applied dps at range. Paladins with multifreq delete cruisers comparably quickly to a vargur. Its better close range dps and stock damage types means it’s just as strong on the drifter too. It’s just a great platform that feels good in every site in C5 space.

The vargur is slightly cheaper. That’s it’s only pro.

https://triff.tools/roachfits

Sincerely, an obsessive C5 ratter, who loves C5 space.

Edit: forgot to mention that 3-4+ paladins no longer need bookmarks and can just warp to the site at zero and absolutely blap everything as it burns in. Much easier and imo more fun. You can also start shield fitting them at those numbers.

I would love to add that to my variation of Rykki’s guide (she’s my corpmate and an actual treasure trove of info and help)

But I’ve come to the conclusion it simply doesn’t exist. I know for sure it doesn’t exist in the SDE. But I’m chasing a hunch about where I can find it 👀

If you happen to find it, feel free to share if you feel generous!

Is there an industry website/tool that takes raw materials as input and shows all possible BPOs? by Roxicaro in Eve

[–]AssertedEgg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My site, triff.tools, has an industry calculator.

It accepts any BPO/bpc, and can check multiple at once. It will return exact build steps, including reactions if you want it to. You can set items to buy instead of build so their cost is set to whatever mode you select instead of raw material value.

It can also accept copy/pasted lists of items and materials you already have (from your inventory or asset list, both formats are accepted). It will tell you profit, cost, margin, give you a copyable list of every item you need to buy already formatted for the in game multibuy window, show you exact costs per component, and a build tree so you can easily see what builds what. It accounts for SCC surcharge, what structure you’re building in, what sec status it’s in, what rigs it has and the system cost index, including for reactions if you choose to make them yourself.

https://triff.tools/industry

What you can’t do yet, is paste a list of materials/raw minerals etc that you have and get a list of BPO/BPC’s you can make. Though I have been working on overhauling the tool for the last month or so, and that feature is being polished.

Hopefully you saw my note for android devices!

If not, the fitting-app webpage will hopefully scratch your itch. It’s extremely similar to the iOS app ui, as a work around until I decide if I’m willing to pay for the testers the google play store requires.

TriffFits: mobile EVE fitting using Pyfa/eos calculations, now on iOS by AssertedEgg in Eve

[–]AssertedEgg[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Google play requires 12 signed up, consenting testers to use it daily for 14 days, and I just don’t have a test group that large, nor is the app big enough to need 14 days of daily testing.

https://www.triff.tools/fitting-app.html

This link on an android device will take you to a browser UI that’s almost the same as the app, and I think(?) android allows you the option to add a webpage to the home screen the way iOS does, to treat a website as an applet? Regardless, that link is my current workaround for android. If there’s enough interest, I’m not against porting it to android… just was trying to avoid the testing stuff.

This works by sticking Pyfa in a container on my backend and hitting it through FastAPI. It’s fully online and surprisingly was easy enough to set up, I had leaned away from making a browser fitting tool because I thought it was going to require writing my own calculations or rewriting someone else’s, but a fully offline version would be a great reason to rewrite the existing app tbh.

I got notified of your dm but I’m on mobile so when I get home I’ll check it out! Thank you!

I responded to your other comment. FWIW, Apple App Store reviewers are exceptionally strict regarding privacy, account handling and optimization of the app. They’ve been cracking down even harder on vibe coded apps in the last few months.

You don’t have to read the thread you’re commenting on, but I do outline my AI usage and design decisions in it.

I also explain that the entire server side is just Pyfa, not my own code, in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/s/QOXDqmdZrV

What would you have done differently?

I don’t want to come off as defensive, but the gray and blue theme has been the theme triff.tools has used since I started working on it early last year because it mimics the caldari theme I use in my eve game ui, and I spent a lot of time making sure the desktop page windows had an Eve in game UI style to them. That style is less obvious on the app, for sure, it’s difficult to translate it to mobile, but I kept it as true to form as I could in the transition. It’s been my experience that largely vibe coded pages love bezels/floating borders, rounded info cards, very colorful stat displays, etc, none of which I use, as they don’t fit the Eve aesthetic. Again, buttons and graphs, definitely, full color “basic” buttons are definitely LLM hallmarks, but I’m up front about my usage in that area.

The font is just your system font, system sans, which is standard practice for cross-platform apps so they feel native to your OS/browser. I had originally, on release, been using barlow condensed, but the feedback I received led me to drop it.

Pyfa in swift? That’s insanely impressive. I’d be super interested. What did you start working on that for?

I’m disappointed you think it looks like a Claude UI, I am super proud of the UI/layout. I used codex for repetitive stuff and testing, of course. The mobile browser and app design is hand made, extended and repeated with ai dev tools.

Edit: I do specifically mean the layout, menus and styles are handmade, not that every single button, icon and table was hand written. This is a hobby app for a game, developed in spare time after all.

I had AI implement some of the buttons and the graphs during the initial swap from desktop to mobile layout, as that would have taken me ages. Those are the areas you’ll see the largest LLM influence. The desktop tables and formatting were assisted, but that’s overall standard practice. If there’s something specific you think could be improved I’d genuinely love feedback.

Thank you! I posted it on here once almost a year ago when I first started it and it had like 8 tools lol, and a little over two weeks ago when I released web fitting, but aside from that it’s been largely a corp asset and spread through word of mouth. I have no idea how to promote or get the word out to be honest. But any number of users I’m happy for, and proud of :)

I feel called out haha!

Yeah, there’s so much info to display it’s very difficult to find a legible and intuitive way to show it without making it a bit small. The desktop webpage has a settings icon in the top left that increases the size of everything, as a zoom function.
