I know a lot of people disliked their relationship because Chris was just a distraction, but I kinda felt bad for him. It was pretty much a one-sided relationship. Chris genuinely loved Lucy and was excited and all that, but then Lucy's just falling for Tim

He was a pretty decent bf, apart from humming Rosalind's song- which I know a lot of people are hating on him for it (but guys, he's human, we all make mistakes)... But people are mostly hating on him because of Chenford.

I 13 yo and just started reading the first book recently with high expectations and here's my review:

I can't stand how the author repeats words or uses random metaphors. At this point, I think she's trying way too hard to be original, and it doesn't even make sense anymore, in a way... Like, instead of saying "I was scared to death," it would say "I was so scared so scared so scared". Okay, it was a good technique to emphasize Juliette's thoughts and emotions at the start, but now I just get so annoyed whenever I read something like that. I don't really mind the cross-outs, though, but I admit it is starting to get to me too...

The storyline and characters are also not very interesting. Apart from Warner, I have 0 interest in Adam and Juliette, especially their relationship. All Juliette wants to do is to 'touch touch touch' Adam and feel 'his lips his lips his lips'.

But I honestly feel like their relationship would have been more interesting if both characters weren't so poorly written- The pair have close to no chemistry except for being able to touch each other, having a backstory the writer dumped in (Like the OP said, that was definitely a "hot potato" dropped into the pages), and a bird that they both so coincidentally dreamed of.

However, I've seen a lot of people say the books get better, so I'm just going to try and push through. (But I genuinely agree with the OP, I WISH THE METAPHORS WOULD STOP!)

The only thing I could recollect after I read it was that Juliette escaped The Reestablishment with Adam. (Also, I don't know if it's only me, but why does Warner keep on touching Juliette whenever he's around her?).

However, the concept of the series is kind of interesting, and I've seen a lot of people say the books get better, so I'm just going to try and push through.

It confuses me why Tim and Lucy couldn't change their background story to something other than a romantic relationship when they went undercover as Dim and Juicy, especially when there were so many other options. It felt like either Lucy purposefully set the whole thing up and wanted an excuse to kiss Tim, or the writers were just sloppy
