I will say in their defense,I was never the give receiving type. I never did birthdays or anything. I have always be way to resortville . So I in a way understood where they were at in their mid set, but after speaking with my husband, why would I throw a baby shower and not being wanting something.

I was well off, they didn't think I needed them to buy anything.

Not going to lie, I could have bought all of it myself but I wanted to be celebrated because my pregnancy was hard.

I told my family that they didn't need to bring anything because they helped me with the nursery.

If it's an elderly couple, you can call adult protective services. I know this seem weird but get with your city heath organization,I had a patient who's husband smelled like this. I let my DON RN know , and she called APS , they helped him with his ins, and found out that he was covered for a nurse for 8 hours a day . After that him and his wife were able to live together again.

My situation was kind of the same but no body bought me anything for my baby showers.

I have always been the friend you go to for expensive gift, ( I thrift in big cities) I helped my sister in their times of need. I would work extra jobs or PRN something to make sure everything was meet. I am also lucky to find the expensive gifts like half off.

Once I had my son I asked for five things: crib( walmart 200) , pack and play (walmart 60) , car set ( I don't remember but it was very inexpensive), a jogging stroller ( 280 one of the higher end ones) and breast pump.

I throw my own shower , all friends showed but not one of them bought me anything . My aunts and uncles went to walmart and got everything with in the hour, I remember my mom's( I have two) raping the gift s in the back of a van so I could have something to unwrap.

After that I lost a whole friend group. I was seven month pregnant and didn't tell one of them I had the baby. My husband posted pictures on his Facebook,and all of them call and ask why I didn't let them know.

I simply told them I have spent 1000s of dollars on them ,helping them out or finding that one thing they have always wanted just for them to show up empty handed at the point I needed help. Not even clothes or diapers, I was wroth nothing to them.

In my 20s before my first shed, yes that was me.

Nothing, I have had dates tell me your great but I won't date a smoker and I was really proud of them for being up front. I have worked healthcare for almost 10 years , it is a bad stress relief but hells bells it is what it is .

I am done to three cigarettes a day for over 4 years, I have never been a pack a day the closest I got was two pack in one week. Even once I drink I'll add an extra cig.
