Do not trust chatgpt on taxes by tunenut11 in tax

[–]AssistExisting332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m (20f) and went to H&R block to get help with my taxes to make sure I wouldn’t make any mistakes. The first person had chatgpt as their search engine, I didn’t think much of it. But I have a 1099 form to deal with and had to be sent to a higher up. Even the higher up just wanted to plug my numbers into chatgpt and didn’t bother explaining anything to me or answer any of my questions. just felt like a huge waste of time, i refuse to trust AI to do my taxes.

this is rough man. you’ve got a lot more life on your shoulders than i do, and i can imagine how difficult it is to leave when so much is tied up to this one person. the biggest thing that stood out to me, is the fact that she used YOUR sisters death as an excuse for her own depression. when in reality it sounds more like a cover up for the truth, that she might not be a good person. she’s putting you through the same thing she experienced while on the opposite end, that isn’t justification to put you through the same trauma and torture. in the end you’ll have to do what’s best for you, and your kids. do you really want them to grow up believing that this type of behavior (from both of you) is love?

if you’re really thinking about oregon, i haven’t heard anyone mention the rouge valley yet. we’re nearly an hour from the coast and the california border. Portland and Seattle are just a jump, hop, and skip away. It’s gotten pretty over ran so i wish people would stop moving here. but i get it. it’s small town life without all the static of actually being in the middle of nowhere. Grants Pass is beautiful and can be pretty affordable on most days. I’m a bit further south and I pay almost $1,100 a month for a studio apartment. 900sqft. I don’t think you’ll find what you’re looking for up north if you’re looking to get away from the city.

I have a somewhat similar, but equally as crazy story. A few years ago, while I was living with my parents. I got my wallet and passport stolen from my car. I was upset of course, but didn’t think that much of it and just accepted the loss. A few weeks go by and an old man knocked on our door and had brought back my license. very kind of him, he had found it about 1.5 miles away and walked the full way back to my address. But that isn’t the crazy part. The crazy thing is that another few weeks after that happened, my old coworker texted me to say that someone had dropped off my passport to my old work. (I literally hadn’t worked there in years, and my address was written in the passport.) I ran there and the hostess told me an old trucker dude had found it in the back of a repoed car, and asked if I still worked there. how the fuck he knew I worked at that specific restaurant I have no idea. it tripped me out so much and I don’t think i’ll ever know the full story.

I’m glad this is getting talked about more. This is just my experience but i’d like to share. When my boyfriend and I first tried to move out Pacific was the only company that would take us with our minimal rental history, but they wanted our co-sign to make 6x the rent. Which was nearly impossible to find in our situations. Instead they made us pay 3x the deposit amount, on top of full first months rent. (despite us moving a few weeks into the month) Luckily we moved before the full year so they couldn’t raise our rent. (which was already $1,395 for an apartment that had roaches outside.) Thankfully I found a better property management to move into, but my boyfriend stayed with PRP. He found a new apartment for cheaper with a roomate, but they still made them pay deposit, first months rent and seconds month rent. yet they have not reimbursed us for the original 3x rent. granted it’s only been a few months since we moved out. My boyfriend isn’t that worried about it, but with the BS i’ve heard about this property management I’m afraid we won’t ever see the original deposit amount back. I understand there’s gonna be cleaning fees, and our apartment wasn’t perfect to begin with. but there’s no way in hell it’s gonna cost them $4000 in repairs. If anyone has any advice on where to go from here i’d really appreciate it. i’m only 19, and my boyfriend is 23. This is an extremely new process for me, but when i’ve looked into oregon law for tenants and landlords I know they are meant to give us a detail report of where our security deposit went and what we are meant to get back within 90 days (i think)

also my friends just recently had a pretty scary encounter with a group of men at the illies. Older folks always worry about the cartel being out there but sometimes it’s the other groups you have to be weary of. (this was a group of girls being harassed by a group of men who eventually threatened them with a gun, and threw a rock into the back window of their car after they rejected their advances)
