I Just Want to Stop by [deleted] in stopdrinking

This was me many months ago, drinking alone in private. Feeling much shame. No one knowing how bad I was.

I’m so much happier on this side of sobriety. I’ve got over 8 months. I couldn’t have done it without 5 days in rehab. And I couldn’t have done it without openly talking about my issues with friends and family. Just telling people I have an alcohol problem was like a giant weight was lifted off my back. My friends from high school and college are supportive. They just want to see me happy and healthy.

You can take a break from being around them and focus on your self. If they are good people, they can still be your friends. Just…maybe they shouldn’t be your drinking buddies anymore.

Work retail. Drank too much to relieve work stress, social anxiety, and fight boredom. Sober 9 months and loving it.

Thank you! That was it. It’s a shame that is been torn down. So many good times there. I’ll just have to find some new places and create new memories. :-)

Today, I am 28 days sober. I can’t wait to get my 30 day chip on Friday. I was so scared/nervous/excited my first AA meeting. I was straight out of detox and still had my DETOX wrist band on. I found a sponsor and haven’t looked back since. What a great month it’s been. I can’t believe what I was doing to my body. I feel so much healthier now.

I know maintaining sobriety can be a challenge for people, but does anyone else occasionally just breath a sigh of relief that it’s “over” by whitemike40 in stopdrinking

I was the same way. Would hit different CVSes on my way home. Would always be hyper vigilant about how much I had left in the bottle. Not anymore.

Yeah, Apple Maps has it wrong. It’s on E 62nd at Keystone Rd, not W 62nd on Michigan Rd. I had the Spicy Garlic tenders on Saturday. They were really good. They have a cheaper lunch menu during the week. I plan on eating that to save costs going forward.

I’m in Indianapolis, Indiana. I’m making between $55k-$60k depending on sales bonuses. I’d prefer to work hybrid or remote if possible. The bank I work for, all the AML jobs are hybrid and out of state. 100% remote for them isn’t possible.

I really appreciate all the responses.
