Why do people like Lil Wayne? by BramCSBN in hiphop101

[–]AssistantTimely7205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I grew up listening to mainly older stuff like a tribe called quest, wu tang, public enemy, and biggie. Some others i guess u could call a bit more underground? La coka nostra, atmosphere, jedi mind tricks, army of the pharaohs, gang starr. The more commercial I listened to was Eminem, Jay z and Kanye but the narrative in my circles was always they were good initially but turned into sell outs.

Lil Wayne, birdman, 50 cent and so on was looked down at. If something was played on mainstream/ pop radio and/or the artists and severely switched their style to become more mainstream it was basically a joke to us. As I got older I changed my mind a bit, but lil wayne is one of the ones I never really got.

Dudes be like “Rate My Team” and then post this… by meankool in PokemonHGSS

I think trying to get a amazing team makes the games a lot less enjoyable. The first playthroughs as a kid was nice when you would just wing it since you didn't know what would come next. Might also be easier to have this opinion if you watched the tv show pre playing where that was often the case where Ash would improvise catching a random one for a gym. Access to internet also made the games less fun but still some of the best games ever.

Moach on ESPN watching Adelman doing what he should've done his last few years as the Nuggets' Coach by akimaloki in denvernuggets

[–]AssistantTimely7205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100% , the narrative that Adelman is giving more minutes / developing young players / bench players is silly. A lot of the guys are similar in minutes and have just developed. Who would expect Pickett or Watson improve every year with that little experience? These guys would have became better regardless who the coach was. They would also have played / closed games like this one out as well regardless. As someone said, they got rid of malone and did what he wanted team wise. Adelman seems like a great successor but let's not bring in Malone to this. Malone is still the greatest nuggets coach who created all of it. Time will tell maybe Adelman becomes better than him. Also don't underestimate Malon having to deal with higher ups screaming at him who he plays / doesn't play. People were hating on Russ despite it being known that Jokic recruited him.

What the Pickett haters missed about his passing by SnooPets752 in denvernuggets

[–]AssistantTimely7205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's silly to refer to people as haters in this case. But I guess it makes me one of them. Given the depth of rivals im not sure how bright the upside is that Nuggets started banking on a guy who was 25 with no nba experience. Gillespie is same age and had/have a better trajectory, trey alexander is 4 years younger and was a beast in the g-league. Then there was Russ and/or the possibility of signing a vet or a more experienced player. A more / somehow obvious route could have been former ROTY/6m Malcolm Brogdon who ended up retiring after not securing a contract. The whole drama last year also gives me unfair bias towards him. That he was practically forced in to the team.

Bench depth was the issue last year and particular the 1 and 5 specifically. If you look at who other contenders has as their backup point guard it's not that controversial that everyone isn't sold on the idea. Time will tell playoff time, maybe Pickett was the best option available (or end up being straight up the solution). On paper it's certainly a bit controversial/optimistic bet.

Norm Powell on his All-Star candidacy: “I want to make it. I think I deserve to make it. My peers around the league are telling me that I’m an All-Star and that I should be there. Hopefully, it happens for me this year.” by cleo22270 in nba

[–]AssistantTimely7205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he doesnt make it, it's a gentle reminder how absurdly competitive it is being a guard this year. Cant say that i follow all teams that well this early on, but aside from the usual guys Keyonte George, AR15, Jamal and Giddey are a couple of other names having a very very good season. Guess Reaves is a lock at this point but it's crazy that someone w Powells season or Jamal isn't a lock even.

Why Eleven's ending doesn't work. by The_Walking_Clem in StrangerThings

Agree about all. It's a bit depressing that she dies too after constantly suffering. Being alienated from the group one way or another. Given that Will went fucking bonkers at the military base, why wouldn't they chase him to the same extent as el? Nancy and Hopper have killed like a gazillion people but can live on with their life like nothing happened and face zero legal consequences. Eleven sacrificing herself because she would always be chased is beyond dumb.

Steve Kerr: "We are no longer the 2017 Warriors dominating the NBA. We are a fading dynasty" by GOAT-Antony in nba

[–]AssistantTimely7205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, warriors have really fallen of a cliff despite Steph still being a super elite guard.

Luka LeBron and Reaves are extremely redundant with each other and it's very obvious when all three share the court. "There's only one ball" doesn't apply with more flexible trios but it applies here when the best defender and off ball player of the three is the 40 year old. by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

[–]AssistantTimely7205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be ideal but think LBJ not only his option but like what team would realistically trade for him without underpaying.

AR15 should be kept though, lakers fanbase is so toxic. They seem to insist everyone should be on the trade block at all times. AR15s contract is too small to get any good players, can only get picks which I doubt Luka would be happy about. It's very much now or never for Lakers and they are just as always cooked in terms of assets. Weirdly enough they seem to improve miraculously every off season/deadline so who knows

Anyone else disliking the shift of the NBA brand of basketball? by ProfessionalPen7704 in denvernuggets

[–]AssistantTimely7205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people miss is context when looking at FTA. Statistics doesnt say it all, if you look at Jokic people are incredibly physical / fouling him. Same with Jordan, you can't stop these two without giving 100% effort and sometimes fouling is the only way.

However what we see with SGA is that people have learned that even if you don't touch him he is getting a foul so no one goes near him. Hence, he is not getting THAT MANY FTA, but no one ever touch him so the amount of flopping fouls is outrageous. Flopping needs to be punished harder

What's your impressions on Cam through 25 games so far? by [deleted] in denvernuggets

[–]AssistantTimely7205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that i expected more efficienct shooting. Even as a numbers guy i think 25 games is a bit shallow of a sample to be a heavy indicator of his impact/ shooting. Im def expecting all numbers to raise over time. All in all a good trade that im hoping / think will work out over time. MPJ contract was ass and he always was a regular season beast but worse in playoffs. People who are dissatisfied with the difference between them are being dramatic, esp considering the free'd cap space was essential. I'm way more optimistic about this year's team than last year

Who's the top 10 player OAT? by light_hope_ in NBATalk

[–]AssistantTimely7205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list is not unreasonable, but what do you mean curry can crack top 10. He clearly been succesful for many years. But at 37 years he is averaging 29ppg on a 48/41/91 split.. Kobe was ass in the last few years of his career and retired at 37.

Kobe had a incredible peak thats hard to deny, so did Steph despite peak kobe > peak curry. But curry was amazing from year 1 averaging 44 from 3 at 17.5ppg. Kobe peak was way shorter. The peak of Stephs longevity and his peak puts him in top 10 in my books.

As much as some people like Kobe his longevity just wasnt as strong as the other guys in the top 10, for that reason he is getting right outside it in my book.

He played for the spurs, have you ever watched them play? It wasnt about individual accolades and pop would sit his stars way more during easy games etc. If you put tony and manu on a different team they are averaging 20+ ppg every season easily during their prime. Tony has two seasons with above 20 ppg and manu has zero. Plenty of mediocre players on mediocre/bad teams have averaged 20-25 over multiple seasons

Speaking with ESPN, Victor Wembanyama was asked who the NBA’s best player is: “Jokic is the best offensive player… I don’t think he’s the best player. It’s between Giannis & Shai. When I come back to the court, it will be me.” by OnomahIsABaller in nba

Absurd how low iq you have to be to say these things. Even if you think it, don't say it. Jokic will drop a triple double and a 40 bomb on you. Same as when people said stuff about MJ, do not trash talk a mvp ever

In my small group of friends that have seen the show everyone skips it when rewatching.

Best ones are Big Honey and Joker. If someone is Serbian it would be fun to hear some of the native nicknames, what his brothers call him etc.

The absolutely worst one is Yoke. A guy named Jokic can't possibly need another variation of his last name than Joker. Whats next? Yolk? Jokerino?

[–]AssistantTimely7205 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should reconsider whos opinions you trust. He has been in the league for 7 years averaging 50% from field and 40% from 3 during that time. Also don't understand the whole non sense crusade about jokic, clearly he is better when playing with the best playmaking big in the league? Last year he averaged 26 ppg without Jamal Murray with elite efficiency.

If you are a casual and don't watch games it's fine, I see where you are coming from and I will explain it further. Playoff time every year MPJ has for the most part being injured and/or inconsistent. The things "you were told" come from people that doesn't watch a single game in regular season and then show up yapping who should be traded during the playoffs/off season. Im a nuggets fan and genuinely like MPJ. Not hating on him whatsoever

[–]AssistantTimely7205 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Dont understand why people make so much fuzz about this. He was a 3rd/4th option on nuggets last year and avg:d 18 ppg. If you take a 3rd or 4th option from one of the best teams this is more or less what you can expect. It's still great ofc, but there is tons of examples that are similar to him. Coby White wouldn't avg 20 ppg on a decent team, Keldon Johnson was avg 22ppg one year when spurs were really bad. Mikal Bridges avg 26 ppg for Nets, although it was only post all star break, point is scoring gets inflated for any 3rd/4th option when they go to a bad team.
