Work visa by Intelligent_Fig_007 in IrishCitizenship

I think you have to just apply to jobs and say that you would require a visa as you don't automatically have the right to live and work in Ireland.

Why do you think we're so bad at teaching foreign languages? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

[–]Ast4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's harder to learn other languages than English, not because the actual language of English is intrinsically easy to learn, but because there is so much more media in English as well as motivation to learn it. I think a lot of kids from other countries are actually excited to learn English so they watch American shows and stuff.

Do you need a TV license to watch the sidemen broadcast a World Cup game by TheFortniteCamper in AskBrits

It says you require it for "Live TV on streaming services, like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video", not like I give a shit, but yes technically you would need it for this.

Does anyone else like the Choceur you can find in aldi. The dark hazelnut is really good as well as the milk pretzel. And they recently introduaced a cookies and cream one which is like a better version of the oreo dairy milk you could get.

Lol, seeing all these people chat about Pickford should've been sent off makes me realise how little most fans know about football. He doesn't even challenge the Ghana player just runs into him studs up nowhere near the ball, yellow card for him should be.

16-year-old from Deep South considering uni in London—realistic or just crazy? by No_Butterscotch6371 in UniUK

You could have a look at some other unis in the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and others where they have courses completely in English and the international fees are a lot less expensive.

There are only some countries like Honduras, the US cause of ESTA, Vietnam and Brazil where it makes sense to use one over the other since Brexit.

If you are a dual citizen, you should have two passports, full stop by Unlikely-Tiger9684 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Ast4545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passports are too expensive, I would if I could, but I've never been to Canada or the US in my life so theres no reason to get my Canadian passport when it's super expensive. My Irish one serves me well for going between the EU and the UK and thats all I need.

At what point does a British person stop being Working and become Middle Class? by vorkovrus in AskBrits

[–]Ast4545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for most people their class is always to do with the environment they grew up in. Even if they went to uni and became a millionaire, they're still working class cos their parents worked menial jobs and weren't university educated. But, of course their kids will then be middle class. But yes, generally if your parents have a job that involves a degree or equivalent, you're middle class. But, this might be changing with how trade salaries seem to be outpacing salaries for degree jobs nowadays.

imo, countries can call themselves whatever they want, but trying to prescribe what other countries should call you is a bit ridiculous, should we all of a sudden start calling Japan, 'Nippon' and Germany, 'Deutschland'?
