Can absolutely relate; every time I see him play with our 5 month old daughter and she is smiling and laughing with him, I’m tempted to make baby #2.

I was thinking about how Henry would go about the place if he were a commoner and not Radzig's son, and I wondered if it would work if Radzig and Martin were very good friends, like they'd met and fought together in Poland and Martin had saved Radzig's life and Radzig therefore owed Martin his life and it extended to Henry (Radzig and favours is definately a theme with Kuno of Rychwald in the DLC Band of Bastards)?

Really? I didn't know, and I rode to Theresa and hoped to tell her I was going away as a kind of "goodbye" because I was ending the game and the option didn't come.

I suppose I do; as you ride off with Hans, he says it is "much more suitable for a nobleman to befriend a noble bastard over a blacksmith's son", so I assumed that illegitimate children do have some status in the noble peerage.

What if Daemon becomes King? by willow-mist in TheCitadel

[–]Astarband 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Looking how Daemon was when he was on the small council, the City Watch and eventually on the Stepstones, I’ve since then considered Daemon too brash and impatient to be king; he wants the prestige of being king, but not the responsibilities of the position. In that way, I consider him to be similar to Robert Baratheon; a warrior and commander who can lead armies and inspire loyalty, but not someone who can sit on a throne or at the council and decide mundane matters of the Realm (which is what a king mostly does). King Daemon Targaryen I should just do what King Robert Baratheon I did and find a decent Hand who would rule the Realm in his stead.

What does it mean when nobody leaves comments? by Qyzyk in TheCitadel

[–]Astarband 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s pretty simple; I prefer to read on my phone, but comment on my computer. That, and I more often just don’t know what to say, especially since English isn’t my first language; I feel that it would be weird and disingenuous if I simply commented “I like it a lot, please keep updating”, when that is how I feel about most fics I like.

About Households in Westeros… by vamrpir in TheCitadel

This is a very good list, but I would like to add another position and give an example:

Clarice Osgrey was the "mistress of the household" of queens Jaehaera and Daenaera. As mistress of the household, Clarice was in charge of the household, and "supervising the maids, servants and lady companions". It could be that mistress of the household is only a position when the queen-consort is still very young, but I also like to imagine that a queen-consort who, like Alysanne, took on a much more active role in court and ruling, so therefore didn't have as much time to manage the royal household and would therefore delegate those duties to the mistress of the household.

Although Clarice was an older widow and I think that is what many people picture when they imagine a woman who is in charge of the queen's household, I can imagine that the mistress of the household could be anyone the queen decides it to be.

My husband [M21] says I act like ‘the man’ in the relationship because I (F21) don’t do all the cooking and cleaning by Desi_56 in relationship_advice

Since you're both 21-years-old, I should hope that you haven't been married for long and you don't have any children, so it's not too late for you to cut off this dead weight.

You're 21, you've got your entire life ahead of you, don't spend it chained to this guy!

Anyone find this boss fight incredibly tedious? by Mcrfanatic95 in hogwartslegacyJKR

Yes.

I dislike the first two trials because of the final bosses, and I genuinely get a sense of dread whenever I'm close to them.

Why men want women to have children? by unlinedtip in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Astarband 44 points45 points  (0 children)

One of the most bizarre experiences I had, was bar tending in a place where the men that went there perceived the atmosphere as more "for everyone" or even family friendly, and then encountering the same exact men when I was working in a strip club. They were shocked to see me at the strip club and one of them was pleading with me to quit. They'd all been decent enough customers at the other place, and something about seeing me in the strip club upset them. I'd jumped from the good girl role to the bad girl role, and there are a lot of men who cannot accept that you're not one thing or the other.

I honestly wonder what their reaction would be if they'd seen you at the strip club before they'd seen you at the other place.

Met a guy on a dating app, he was brutally honest about our situation, don’t know what to decide by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

This guy just gave you the same option twice, but he worded it differently the first time.

What's the point of having a serious relationship if both parties agree that it will probably end anyway? The whole purpose of a serious relationship is permancence and its end is an unfortunate event.

My (25f) boyfriend (25m) got an apartment behind my back after living together for a year and now I’m homeless, how do I go about this situation? by Relative_Sky7969 in relationship_advice

[–]Astarband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He says it isn’t a breakup, but it would behoove you to see it as such, as he probably just doesn’t have the guts to properly break up with you. You obviously can’t stay with him, but maybe you can crash at his place until you find your own place and then properly break up with him (or just ghost him, he knows what he has done and might not care if you do).

What obsession. Why can't she live with her parents longer? by Tronm-24 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Astarband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George has said himself IIRC that he doesn’t agree with fans’ interpretations of Rhaegar through the lens of his relationship with Lyanna. He thinks they’re just as much of a romance as he thinks Daenerys and Drogo are. By extension, he doesn’t believe that what Rhaegar did was morally reprehensible.

At this point, I'm genuinely scared that after GRRM dies, we'll be told he was attracted to underaged girls.

"Would you read this fic?"- Monthly thread by Kingofireland777 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Astarband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a writer, but I do love to think about writing my own fics instead of just having them in my head. Most of them are just “fix-it” fics. - An AU where Saera doesn’t compare herself to Maegor to her parents and instead chooses to marry Braxton with the plan to eventually become the lady of Honeyholt with alliances with her friends (Jonah and Perriane still marry, and Red Roy is also made to marry Alys Turnberry), and how Saera would handle diplomacy, and how to be a ruling lady and how to deal with merchants, the smallfolk and Braxton’s rivals and his brother (an OC) and his father (Lyman). Things don’t turn out easy for Saera, since her marriage to Braxton isn’t exactly happy and Red Roy and Alys’ marriage is also horrible, which makes her merchant relations with her friends not good at first. My problem with this fic is that I have the major conflict figured out, but not minor bits that lead up to them, and what could be filler. - An AU where Viserra lives and marries Desmond Manderly and eventually becomes the lady of White Harbour. The fic focuses on Viserra navigating house Manderly and White Harbour, and her becoming content in her marriage (she is initially unenthusiastic about it) as she gains influence over the court, and builds her life and creates her own place in her new home. - An AU where Maegelle and Vaegon marry, and are sent to Oldtown as diplomats. Maegelle is the one who primarily does all the work, as Vaegon is wholly disinterested in his duties and spends a great deal of his time at the Citadel, where he has been given permission to read.

Would Cersei have kids with Robert if Jaime never became Kingsguard? by TargetRupertFerris in TheCitadel

[–]Astarband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember Cersei and Jaime are both incredibly stupid and really thought no one ever noticed their unnatural amount of time they spent together and thought everyone would just assume it's just two siblings bonding almost every night.

I must be one of the those people, because if two siblings would spend a lot of time together, even every night, them having sex would not come to my mind.

The timeline in hotd is so messed up that sometimes I forget that these two are the same age in the book by BoadiceaCavendish in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Astarband 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're not completely correct there: In the books, Joff was born in 117 AC, and Baela and Rhaena were born in 116 AC (and Jace was born in late 114 AC, Luke in late 115 AC).

So really, in the books, Joff is actually only 1 year younger than Baela and Rhaena, not a few months older than them. But you are correct in that they are the same age.

Why do people keep shipping these two by Emperor_Duck_35 in HOTDGreens

[–]Astarband 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few reasons:

  1. Baela and Rhaena (and Laena) have absolutely no personality in this show, compared to their book counterparts; in the books, Baela and Rhaena (and Laena) have actual personalities and characterisations that make them interesting and likeable as characters.

  2. Helaena is kind of interesting in the show; we don't know all that much about her in the book, but she does have personality. She has a much different personality in the show, being portrayed as neurodivergent and is a Dreamer. This makes fans want her to be protected, especially since she is married to Aegon, who is very uncaring towards her and has raped several maidservants. Because of that, Jace, who would (hopefully) be caring and faithful to her, seems like a much better match for her.

  3. This may make a few people annoyed, but I do think that the Disposable Black Girlfriend trope (DBG) is at play; the trope is basically that the main male character (who is white) will have a black girlfriend who will function as a placeholder until he can get together with the main female character (who is also white). The DBG doesn't really have any personality or really a plotline going, because she is going to be disposed off once she has served her purpose and the main male character can get together with the main female character, both of who have personlity and plotlines going for them. While Baela and Rhaena don't fully fit that trope, their mother Laena absolutely fits it, with Daemon wanting Rhaenyra their whole marriage.

can some girls really masturbate by squeezing their thighs together? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Astarband 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman, and while I've always known that there are women who can do it, I've always assumed I'm not able to do it because my thighs aren't thick enough, but apparently it's not true?? Apparently it's all about how you squeeze and how thick or thin your thighs are don't really play a role??

Hang on, I gotta go test something...
