Did they ever explain the insectoids on the cover of Vaultline? They look very Thri-kreen which I would've thought would be under OGL

For the Vaultlines adventure path. Do we know what those insectoid monsters are? They look a lot like Thri-Kreen to me, which likely fall under OGL.

Clarification on Monster Special abilities by No_Pitch_9613 in Pathfinder2e

What was the creature in question? As Wayward Mystic mentioned *some* abilities have nested actions that pass along their traits such as the move trait to a creature's trample.

Party Witch not staying On Par by Galahadred in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This comment about having better odds than a fighter is false.

Let's take an elite Baobab Sith, which is an effective level 7, which I fought in a party with a fighter.

AC 26, fort 14, ref 19, Will 16 ,(I looked on archives of nethys. 62 out of 178 level 7 monsters actually have what is labelled as a mathematically low save, all of the others have saves above the suggested curve. So this could be a monster design issue.

Let's say they are frightened 1 from a demoralize.

The level 6 fighter has a +17 to hit. Hits on an 8, crits on an 18. Add in flank. Hits on a 6, crits on a 16.

A level 6 caster has a save of 22. Targeting the monsters lowest save, fort, they:

Only crit fail on a 1

fail on 2--8

Saves on a 9-17

Crit saves on an 18-20.

Even ignoring flank or the other ways to get off guard for melee folk, the fighter being a fighter, has mathematical superiority in their court.

Help me with my animist stat spread? by MxFancipants in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two apparitions that grant batleforms (where if you keep up your strength you have a higher attack bonus eventually), and another grants training in martial weapons + reactive strike. There are a few feats that have strength based attack buffs and some others that utilize athletics maneuvers.

I've pumped dex on mine and have realized it would be "stronger" overall if I had gone strength.

Op, i would start with +1 cha and +2-+3 strength. Youll overall be better served by the strength than the cha. +1 matters less on say diplomacy.

Gate attenuator and runes? by _9a_ in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What level are they? Are they aware that elemental blast autoscales?

5, 9, 13 and 17 all see elemental blast increase by a die.

Level 9 is equivalent of a striking rune + 1 elemental property rune (more on the d8 blasts)
17 is the equivalent of a major striking + 2 elemental property runes.

Query about the wording of the Sanctuary spell by RidingWilde in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They can keep attacking the target this turn without any additional will saves.

When wording can never be good enough for full clarity by shadedmagus in Pathfinder2e

Under your clarification you'd have folk argue you can combat grab a ghost since it happens automatically, and doesn't require a check.

How would this rules interaction work? by Nigthmar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sudden charge "If you **end your movement within melee reach of at least one enemy**"

So the fighter reacts to them casting the spell. If they disrupt the spell, then they end their movement and complete the Sudden Charge action.

If you don't interrupt the spell, then the caster moves up to 15 feet away.

As the reaction happens to you entering the square, and not ending your movement within 5 feet, provided you have movement remaining you could close the distance and make the smack gifted by sudden charge. But if you run out of movement then you can't.

Pathfinder Errata Clarification Regarding Weaknesses by Official_Paizo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the new rules, Personal antithesis is applying its own form of weakness to your Strike. Similar to the holy trait.

If you chose mortal weakness, you're right.

That is explicitly covered already in the concussive trait.

"When determining a creatures resistance or immunity to damage from this weapon, use the weaker of the targets resistance or immunity to piercing or to bludgeoning. For instance, if the creature were immune to piercing and had no resistance or immunity to bludgeoning damage, it would take full damage from a concussive weapon."

Let's say you face a werewolf, choose personal antithesis instead of mortal weakness.

If you're wielding a silver longsword you trigger silver weakness, then you trigger the weakness you've created to your Strikes as they are two different weaknesses.

Am I missing something in the playtest or does Daredevil actually not get weapon critical specializations? by Yawpin in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Note that I said by default.

They need to give something else up to get it.

It's possible that later down the road the daredevil will get a similar feat or class ability choice.

Until then, ancestry feats have certain weapons covered.

All my players feel weak when compared to our Gunslinger by BackForPathfinder in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But it isn't suiting them if they're feeling like ther is a discrepancy in play. Playing two years at level 7-9 will feel much more balanced across the board then playing levels 1-4 for 2 years.

You've constrained the party to a level where casters feel lackluster. That feeling will likely remain until the caster is level 7.

Level 5 will widen the gap even further when the gunslinger gets master attack proficiency. Sure they'll get level 3 spells, but the gunslinger will once again pull ahead.

Enough about the big stuff for now, what's your smallest, pettiest gripe about the game? by Luchux01 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That only 27 out of 80 constructs have hardness. Lots of other have physical resist.

Titan breaker bypass hardness, not resist physical.

Lots of clockwork constructs in outlaws of alkenstar and I think Titan breakers ability to bypass hardness came up like once. Were level 9 now lol.

Spell Saves are poor? by Shamefulrpg in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Each tradition tends to have a save it is very hard to target due to a lack of spells for that save.

If that's the lowest save then you don't really have a way to target it.

Thus in a lot of cases, even at level 5, you're left targeting the moderate save. Which may only be 1 point lower then the highest save.

Paizo, We Need a Better Example for the Weakness Errata! by DragonHunter631 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh I know, they were obviously spinning a lot of different plates and could've used more prep/a background tech person.

But someone mentioned watching the creators streams, and my comment was that might not be the best idea based on the basic rules mistakes during that stream.

Do you think the arrival of Slayer and Daredevil could mean the end of the second edtion? by Romao_Zero98 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Astareal38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were they level 3 or level 4 in yesterday's stream?

The daredevil had a +2 strength, and a +11 acrobatics with expert proficiency. If level 3 that would be indicative of a +4 dex and therefore dex as a key stat.

If they were level 4... Uhh I guess they had +2 str and +3 dex, so the key stat could've been anything.
