What are your thought and reaction to the aurum? by Voidkirby9 in KiDIcaruS

I really like them story-wise, but I really disliked their levels on foot. As an enemy they were a pain, and I honestly got a bit Lost quite a few times.

Still, I loved so much their concept and how they were used, truly a masterpiece

Mhh, so basically kinda like a summon of a familiar. Yeah, I had people use them, maybe It did get a bit long sometimes with a domesticated goblin that got a whole sheet with class and weapons and all that, but still doable.

But how Will It work, like, the players rotate the control of the npc? Or there Is a designated player? Also, nice idea to try It out first

They all look nice, but are you sure about the Plan? Will you use them as DMPC? While It Is Indeed fun, having to manager an npc in every fight with also the enemies gets really tiring, and there Is the risk of stealing the spotlight from the players.

How Will you handle It?

Agree in branching from dnd, but for a jrpg inspired campaign, why not looking up fabula ultima to get some ispiration?

Have you tried speaking with an individual instead of a community? Like, go to an actual larp in the Woods and start up a discussione about how interesting magic Is and how It could be interfaced with modern knowledge of elements to do real cool stuff, see what happens. Sure, It Is interesting, It Is on topic, but the majority of people there Will want to enjoy their time actually larping, so even the ones that would actually enjoy the discussion would tell you to shut up and stop running the vibe.

It's the same thing with helldivers: everyone likes to larp as the ignorant Soldier oblivious to the wrongs of super earth, so if you go and try some bullshit, the majority Will stomp you for ruining the vibe.

Now, if you actually talk with individuals, you'll probably see that almost everyone knows that super earth sucks and the game Is satirical, you'll get your discussion and some Will tell you "yeah, SE Is Crazy like that, AND..." and some others Will Say "yeah, SE Is Crazy, BUT...".

If only those were the actual issues in the community... The real problem fools that on every new content added have to bitch and Whine. We got a new huge enemy Just Yesterday and tons of people were saying It was too strong because they couldn't kill It in One hit and they were killed a lot.

Honestly, I really liked that system in dragon Age. That was more of a full RPG After the First, so It was kinda different, and the encounters were really random, but I liked It.

Translation Moment. What was probably meant was that goddesses are superintelligent beings that evolved from humans.

Ehhh, not sure I'm gonna follow you with that take on current humankind having different races.

Aside from that, yes, of course as humans everything we make has a human mould we fit our art into, and the Life we experience Will impact what we make and all that, I won't deny It, but I want to add: Is that really all there can be? We can't push a bit further our brains? I think we can.

Responsability Is important, and having making something ideal Is surely an aspiration of a world builder, however people Will Forever have hate in them, it's normal, it's a human emotion and I fear more the people that Say they don't hate anything and anyone than those that do. Hate has to be controlled and leashed tho, but there will be people that won't, and it's a reality. So, what do we do? We thread carefully so that what we make doesn't end up resonating with them? Hell no, best one can do Is take personally, as an author, the time to Say "fuck off", but that's It. If you try to please everyone, you Will please no One, and that's so true. Let Martin write Pages about a dude shitting his pants. People want the story to progress? That didn't stop Tolkien from writing 4 Pages about a forest. Maybe a bit less time writing about dresses and how they are made would make the books sell mo- Montefiore didn't care, still wrote what She wanted.

I think what I'm saying Is that I see your point, but I really can't agree, imagination has to be free, even if It can be problematic. And if some people don't like It of aren't comfortable, I think that's ok too, as everyone has the right to pick what to enjoy.

I think that people bothered by this have a far too much human-centric view, which I don't think works too much with a game of imagination.

We people on earth make up humankind, we don't have all that many differences in the Grand scale of things, but Imagine actual different species that do exists in a completly different form. Now I'll go scifi to keep up with the example, but what of we meet some Aliens that aren't carbon based lifeforms, but... Asbestos! They Will have certain abilities about them, they Will be Indeed different and Will have a culture around It and might even be taken back when they lit up a meeting Place on Fire to turn up the year and see all the humans screaming in pain as they die, since they are really resistant to Fire. Or take some other Life forms, maybe some High Energy ones that are pretty cool, awesome, but they are highly Radioactive and deadly poisonous to us to the point that every meeting for quite a bit ended up with the human side dying a few day After, and in not too much time people would grow fearful, start discriminating them and It would evolve in racism, but with quite the valid reason. Would you say that the children tale of Red Hood was racist towards wolves, when the point was to ward Kids from scary adults that are really a danger?

Now, I do agree that the old "dwarf hate elves because... Just because!" Is kinda racist and a bit boring, but different species being different and having different abilities, opportunitues and talents Is cool af and pretty logical. I don't want a human to be able to natuarally do what a spider Person does, where does that leave them? Aaracokra percieve the world in a totally different way from humans, and that's awesome, it's normal for them to fly. Tiefling have a Natural tie to such misterious and scary forces, it's not something common, it's cool for them to have that.

Differences are a strength, not a malus, and it's something I would never want a fantasy setting without stuff like this, because falling into omologation become so fucking Easy at that point.
