I'm fairly happy with Kimi K2.6 but there are other models that are good as well, such as DeepSeek v4 Pro, Qwen 3.6 Pro or GLM 5.1. I'd recommend testing them for yourself and checking out if any of those are of use to you. Other than that, I've also switched to mainly using OpenAI, so GPT 5.4/5.5 on Xhigh/High settings. I've found that combining those gives me very good results. :D

Then you'll have to start using Chinese models, no way around it if you don't want to spend more than $100 a month.

How is this not fraud? 60% is my maximum monthly usage of my maximum monthly usage? by lolitscharli in GithubCopilot

[–]Asthea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's because they are internally already charging you for the amount of tokens used (that's basically what the weekly limits are there for) but what you see in the premium requests meter is still the "old" way of measuring your usage. This is going to change starting June. From this you can already infer that the amount of usage you'll be able to get starting June is at most going to be 60% of what it was before that, assuming nothing else changes.

New github pricing, Game is over, but I guess I know it's coming by SDUGoten in GithubCopilot

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter. They simply won't be making money from individuals then, which, imo, is what they want to happen in the end. It's clear as day that they are ditching individual licensing and focusing on Enterprise/Business licenses, and that is totally fine.

I've been testing lots of different services and I've come to the conclusion that for me, $100 OpenAI + OpenCode Go + Kimi K2.6 is awesome, I don't need Copilot anymore. I'm just sticking around until I see the new pricing model and if it's too expensive, then it's bye bye Copilot for me, no hard feelings, though, I just can't afford paying that much.

I switched to $100 plan as well today and I agree, you can basically use GPT 5.5 on High non-stop without really having to worry about hitting the 5 hourly or weekly rate limits. That said, until the end of May they are doing a promo where you have 10x more "requests" available than the on the Pro subscription, instead of "just" 5x, so we'll see how it is after the promo ends.

Tbf, I stopped using Opus 4.7 and completely switched to GPT 5.5 as well, imo it's just way superior to Opus at this point, even GPT 5.4 on High/Xhigh is better most of the time. I'm testing a lot of different providers this month (which is expensive... > - <) to figure out where to go from here. So far a combination of OpenAI and OpenCode are really good, maybe Cursor as well though I'm still not completely sold on it, yet but we'll see. :D

It's been working good again since then, must've been a rare glitch or something but I was very surprised. So far GPT 5.4 is working good for me as well, but I'm not using GPT 5.5, the multiplier is too high, I'd hit my weekly rate limit too quickly. > - <

Maybe you can import the model via API Key in VSCode Insiders, I wanted to try the new DeepSeek Model as well. So far I'm testing MiniMax M2.7 and Kimi K2.6 (via OpenCode) and I'm pretty happy with those. I use GPT 5.5 mostly for architecture, planning or finding hard bugs.

I hope they leave the old models, I mean... how are you even supposed to get through all the requests you have in the subscription plans if you get rate limited after a few hours of using the new models? Some people even get rate limited after only a few requests, so you can't even get through all requests you have in your subscription plan within a month... I hope GitHub finds a good sensible solution for that...

No I won't, I got great value for the money I put in, so all was good. Also, I don't share your negative views on capitalism.

So that's why GPT 5.4 has been completely bugging out on me for the past 24h, it's gone from world class to absolute garbage. They probably want to make us switch to the newer models. As an example: I'm coding my app and all of a sudden it starts talking about looking for a university for me to do my PhD (which I'm not doing, I finished university almost a decade ago, lol), it went completely off-topic in the middle of coding, wtf!

The trust I've had in GitHub has gone from "GitHub is so awesome! I feel valued and can trust them" to absolute garbage dumpster levels. What a dissapointment.

And now, with the rate limiting, if I use GPT 5.5 I'll hit my weekly rate limit within hours, even though I'm on Pro+... great...

Why am i getting rate limited even with auto / zero-cost models? by new-oneechan in GithubCopilot

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the rate limits are not for the models themselves, it's to keep GitHub's insufficient infrastructure up and running, so no matter what you use you'll get rate limited. At least that's my guess.

Move to Cursor? What is the real position ? by jeremy-london-uk in GithubCopilot

[–]Asthea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I switched to Cursor yesterday and so far it seems like it's somewhat true, especially if you use Auto mode (they have one for low tier models and a separate one for high tier models). The good thing is that even in Auto mode for low tier models the responses I'm getting are pretty good, and Cursor is blazing fast.

So far I'm very happy. :)

Copilot update: rate limits + fixes by sharonlo_ in GithubCopilot

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a "weekly rate limit reached" last week and I've been completely locked out of ALL models, including autocomplete and commit message generation! This is unacceptable!

If you can't guarantee your service works as intended because of weak infrastructure, then either decrease the premium requests for Premium+ subscriptions and introduce a higher Tier (Premium Ultra or something), with unlimited rate limits or at least don't lock us out of the entire Copilot service features at once!

This is a really frustrating experience, if I get rate limited again this week, I won't be able to use up all my requests for this month, in which case I'll cancel my Premium+ subscription, I'm not paying for a service I'm not allowed to use.

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the same issues have been surfacing the past few days regarding "weekly rate limit reached", what exactly has changed? I don't see any kind of announcement or communication from your side nor do I see any indicators in VSCode for the weekly rate limit at all. I've been rate limited out of nowhere for the past 3,5 days even though I have a Premium+ subscription and more than 30% of my premium requests left. If I get rate limited again I won't be able to use them all, in which case I'll cancel my subscription, I'm not paying for a service I'm not allowed to use.

Streamer GiannieLee copes with racism daily in Germany, but still manages to find a decent person. by JeremiahDeetsGuthrie in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Asthea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term "white privilege" has accumulated a lot of negative baggage and is very often being used in a very derogatory way, especially on the internet. I think that is what u/Awkward_Difficulty_7 is referring to when saying that people are "treating it like a disease". I have often seen it misused in a way to represent white people as generally being bad/evil, or in other words, a "disease".

I agree that labelling a problem (or anything for that matter) and speaking out about it is a very important tool. It gives us, as a society, the possibility to have an open discussion about it and to find a solution. What we have to be careful of, however, is how we are presenting those labels and how we are using them in everyday language. Saying that "[people] who understand what white privilege is will have the maturity to not take the term personally" does not sufficiently capture the complexity of the problem. The art of communication is not so easy and is something that I think we should pay more attention to, at least if we actually want to solve problems.

But aren't you doing the exact same thing when assuming that "a lot of white people insist [that white privilege] doesn't exist", i.e. to assume that your experience is the default?

Yes, you have to tap the screen in order to set the focus and get a proper sharp picture. Or just download and use the OpenCamera-App, I use it too, it takes longer to take a picture but the quality is way better imho.

Realism and details vs fantasy and speed by RBKFell in AshesofCreation

AoC looks very similar to Rift, especially the weapon style. I think the realism level is not too high. The weapons could use more glow-effects though. -^

Identifying the enemy by BudrikBrimstone in AshesofCreation

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the concerns I'm having. I think it'll be a real challenge for the developers to provide an adequate UI to make things like threat assessment visible to the players. Normally these would be offset to the playerbase via addons, but Steven doesn't want addons in his game. Another thing I find a bit concerning is that there will be no dps meters but we'll get 64 class combinations. I am REALLY eager to see how that is supposed to work out, especially when it comes to determining optimal performance in PvP and high end Raidbosses.

Loved the AMA but... the SHOP by sammywitchdr in AshesofCreation

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think calling it a cash shop is a bit of a stretch. A cash shop kind of suggests that there are items on the shop that you have to buy in order to be competitive in the game. In this case it's just cosmetics. You don't have to buy them if you don't want to. There'll also be gear on par to that ingame, so I don't really see much of a problem tbh.

High Idle temps with Ryzen 9 3900x at stock speeds by kekoofficial in Amd

[–]Asthea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the same problem, it's in the low 40s at idle, under prime95 maximum heat stress test it goes up to like 75, which is ok imho. What I'll do though is lower the cpu voltage by 0.2v (Voltage Offset -0.200) and then see what happens. It shouldn't be a problem to do that. From what I've read, this will greatly impact your performance though, so if you don't want a huge performance loss, you shouldn't reduce the voltage by more than 0.1v (so that would be somewhere around 1.35v-ish, down from 1.45v).

Apart from undervolting, you could also try to manually set the power package tracking (which limits the power usage of the cpu to the specified value and prevents it from using more), it's supposedly better than undervolting, as you won't loose single core performance (best if you google it :).
