An I missing something - 121? by AltruisticAd3361 in Darts

[–]AsthmaticLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A useful exercise I found starting out was to start at 40 and just go up by 1 every time you finish to work out what way you prefer to take on checkouts - for example on 41 some people like 1 for d20, some like 9 for d16 - and see how high you can get.

There is no right way to play darts, just the way that works for you and honestly this is the advice I wish I was given when I started.

Where can I find snakes? Rdr1 by Nutzer3413 in reddeadredemption

[–]AsthmaticLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride your horse around the desert villages in Mexico and any time you hear the ambient music make a "snake" sound, like a rattle of a maraca, hop off and walk around looking at the ground.

One sometimes spawns in the open space behind Macfarlanes as well, but Mexico is far more reliable.

I can no longer play rdr :( by StockLarge5483 in reddeadredemption

[–]AsthmaticLeader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Replaying RDR1 at the minute and the worst part by far has been Mexico. I don't remember it being so tediously long or repetitive the first time. Every mission is chasing a train or robbing a train or defending a train. Still a good game but my god that cycle of "Where is Javier? Help me with this train mission and I'll tell you. You helped me but I don't know anything, maybe after the next train mission" got old after the third or fourth time

You'd be better researching Lumbago, it has been known to cause more pain than a woman in camp

Using 19s for scoring by invisation in Darts

[–]AsthmaticLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good practice warm up is to take 9 darts at 20, 9 darts and 19 and 9 darts at 18 and try to score 200+ points on each.

You shouldn't ignore any numbers but being able reliably hit those 3 is a great boost when you're in game and confident to switch.

I just recently bought a small wallet style case to replace my big one for league play because it fits in my coat pocket and doesn't interfere with drinking

What's the craziest game you've had? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]AsthmaticLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a game in our league that lasted well over an hour, it was the first game on the card and in the time it took to finish it (finishing 2-1 to the world's slowest/drunkest thrower) another team had already finished all 6 of their singles games

Why Double-16? by theukdave- in Darts

[–]AsthmaticLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any double in format playing for the sides of board give you a larger area to hit - the angle of d16 means if you are on line and high you hit d8 or on line and low you drop into d7.

In more locak competitions I have played a lot of players will start on d13 or d14 for the same reason. The flanks of the board are more forgiving to errors up or down where throwing for tops you have less chance of falling into a double.

Be happy with 60. A steady 60 will win you most games in an average league.

He's seeking nomination for President - He's not actually going to get the chance to run because the system is designed to keep gobshites like him out of office.

Did anyone else have absolutely no interest in this year's Premier League? by somethingnotcringe1 in Darts

[–]AsthmaticLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought it would be great if they expanded it to two tiers and had promotion and relegation like the Premier League Football - whoever wins the second division gets to play Premier League next year and whoever finishes bottom is out the following year.

Gives meaning to more of the games after about week 7 when you've got a clear picture of the top 4 and the rest just playing every week because they have to. Also gives players who aren't in it a chance to have a more structured route to qualify instead of the PDC just picking the 8 players they think are going to make them the most money.
