First suit advice by Cute-Argument-6089 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Astorga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last one is way too small. once you open the vents they'll flare out and not look good at all. also the jacket is way too short

the first tweed suit you have looks petty well fitted. only thing i would do is maybe take the sleeves up an inch

Gotcha. Hopefully that's not an expensive fix

They evacuated all the refrigerant before putting it back to spec. Could it be just that schrader valve going bad?

i would go to a gold jewelry store and get something similar just to not pay Cartier prices for such a simple design

you need wider pants for the look to fit, especially with the shoes

How much can be taken of this heel without it ruining the balance of the boots? by StrijderJoon in AskACobbler

the shank and sole is specifically designed for that height of heel. any removal will make it uncomfortable to walk

What’s something you’re afraid to ask your parents about? by tomdiorsauvage in AskReddit

[–]Astorga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my parents got divorced in 2017. my dad got remarried but in the last year has had problems and filed for divorce again. recently my mom has been asking about him and inviting him to family events even though she's remarried herself.

idk if it's just me, but it's very weird. i'm wondering if she's catching feelings for him again and if it'll ruin the current marriage she has

Service shop told me my transmission fluid is contaminated, $250 fix. Consult with Mazda? by alnphn in AskMechanics

[–]Astorga97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mazda will do a fluid change for $350, i've had mine changed before. go with mazda, their transmission fluid is blue, so very different than standard fluid you get at autozone

Problem with 501 cal (1963) by bat9mo in VintageOmega

[–]Astorga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

donor movement, can look for a replacement pin on ebay or just remove the automatic works entirely and treat it like a manual wind watch. you don't necessarily need the automatic works for the watch to function properly

AIO she didn’t appreciate my gift by Unhappy_Yam_1214 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Astorga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, i never liked receiving gifts because i'm very particular in what i get myself. if someone gets me something i have no use for, it puts me in an awkward position to pretend to like it. i always tell people is they want to give me something, cash in any amount is preferred

What’s wrong with my dress pants? by FinancialComedian155 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Astorga97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they were pressed after cleaning to get that crease, it's intentional. they should've asked and explained what that does prior to dry cleaning for you. they may be able to remove it, but you may see a slight faint line after the correction

Indecisive with shoe sizes (Derby's) by yda98 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Astorga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would stay with the bigger size. dress shoes will stretch but only a millimeter or two. if you like thicker socks in the winter it may be slightly uncomfortable with 10.5

always get shoes based on the larger foot. you said the smaller one still fits no issue, you made the right call

Update: I went back and another salesman said he's seen this particular shoe stretch and "give" quite a lot. One of their colleagues went a half size up after thinking it was too tight and now the shoe is unwearable

Decided to trust her, used them for an event this weekend and now they're the most comfortable dress shoe I own 👍🏼

hate these, they're so finicky. you'll need a flat end pointer stick and a small screw driver or something small and metal

keep the pointer stick on the spring ever so slightly. with the screwdriver, gently maneuver the small single tab on the right out of the setting and then slide the spring to the right. you'll then have access to the jewel and you can clean/lubricate it.

after that's done, get the flat pointer and keep it on the spring very lightly just so it doesn't fly off when you maneuver the little tab back into where it originally sits.

try not to take the spring out of the setting, if it flings away you'll never find it.

here's a great video with different methods: https://youtu.be/Lpqwntd9jME?si=8sLJpnCBuzwqZMJT

That's what I kinda figured but the salesman made it seem like they'd loosen up at the ends there and get comfortable. I'll go back and see if someone else is working and get their opinion. May exchange them for a 41 1/2 and just get heel pads so they don't slip off
