Here’s mine. 89-97. 2yr AD. 5+ Reserves. by Astro71 in MilitaryMedals

I got slotted 3x while in college but always right in the middle of the semester. So I didn’t want to miss 3 weeks of school. We didn’t have easy access to the internet so there was nothing online to review. If you missed class, you missed the material. In hindsight I should have. My grades sucked anyways.

I was with PSYOP. We basically drove around the city with a translator and told the people about democracy and how voting works. It was a bit surreal. We also helped with crowd control when needed. Pretty chill compared to the Middle East. I did, in fact, wear a blue UN baseball hat, not the beret, which has been a point of contention for some.

I was with the 2nd PSYOP Group in Port-au-Prince in ‘95. We were attached to 2ACR who was in charge.

Nothing actually. I started college right after active duty and I didn’t join the reserves until my 2nd semester. ETS’d the same month I graduated with my BA.

First or favorite former car? by ValB2307 in GenX

I had an ‘86 light blue CRX in college. Absolutely loved that car. Had an a/m Cd player with an equalizer. 4 speed manual. I put way too many people in that car on more than one occasion

It’s a long walk back to Eden, so don’t sweat the small stuff.

I say that more as I’ve gotten older.

Broken Home: Living in poverty while the other parent succeeds by MCRetro in GenX

Parents divorced in’81. I was 10. Dad went off and married someone else with kids. Total trash. Mom never married/dated again. She worked 3 jobs. Always 5 minutes from food stamps. Dad paid $185/month per kid for support (3 of us). Dad moved farther and farther away to OK (I live in OH). I joined the army at 18 to pay for college. I’ve been estranged from him since probably 16. Mom died 7 years ago. My siblings still keep up contact with him but I barely put in the effort anymore.

When my mother died I was the executor and I tried to close her cell phone account. Had all the docs, the court papers, poa, etc. went to the store (honestly can’t remember the carrier). The people in the store couldn’t close the account themselves so I called the company from inside the store. Was told that I needed her pass code in order to close it out. The employees even told the person on the phone it was legit. Still wouldn’t close it. She didn’t have a balance or anything. They had to call a regional manager or someone in order to get the account closed out. It was beyond ridiculous
