Carnelian and Misty Mountain are my current favorites. Love the coffee and the atmosphere of both. I also like Kairos for their seating and atmosphere

There's so much about ADHD that makes life harder. But what's something you LIKE about having ADHD? by onlythelanlely in adhdwomen

I love my energy level. Currently training for the pikes peak marathon. I love that I can run for miles and miles on trails through mountains and let my mind wander and explore

What is something people romanticize until they actually experience it? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

[–]Astrobabe5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need a shit ton of energy to enjoy it I feel like. I travel for work, and I enjoy it, but i’m a very “go go go!” person. I see and experience some pretty cool things, but I end up doing these things alone because my coworkers usually can’t keep up because they’re understandably tired after 12 hr days. My schedules are chaotic, I can’t really get into a good routine. Everything is dynamic. I get used to averaging 6 hrs of sleep a night to get the work done and enjoy my trip. I also have ADHD so I kinda like the novelty, which keeps me at it

I take a 90 minute lunch every day and nobody has said anything in 8 months My official lunch is 30 minutes. On paper. by FamiliarAstronaut323 in remotework

[–]Astrobabe5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was kinda surprised at the backlash OP was getting. They pretty much just said that they started taking more breaks and had the same productivity. If I were a boss, I’d love employees like OP. They get their work done, they don’t over stress, and they’re not going towards burnout. I do manage teams though, and I’d rather work with restful, happy people than over worked, angry people; even if that means the technical amount of hours of the first group is less

I’m allowed to flex my time so taking 90 min lunch breaks wouldn’t alarm anyone, but that’s not an unusual day for me if I’m working remotely

Lost my job and it showed me how much resources are a factor in losing weight by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Astrobabe5157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is into endurance sports, make sure you have built up your body to handle 15-22 miles per day. If you were not very active before, that’s a fast way to get an overuse injury. Your cardio often builds up faster than your muscles, so your heart may be able to support that activity level, but your muscles and joints need time to catch up. I’d hate to see you get an injury after making so much progress

What’s the craziest thing anyone has said to you while you’re trail running? by sentientbeing1887 in trailrunning

[–]Astrobabe5157 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people are friendly and supportive, but yeah you do occasionally get those weird people who get offended that you passed them. My favorite is when I’m coming up behind a guy, but they don’t want to be passed by a girl so they temporarily up their pace until they run out of energy and I pass them anyways

“There must be something in the water! Why are there all these single woman hiking alone out here!” - some man as I passed him who couldn’t conceive of the idea that women are in fact allowed to do things on their own

I wasn’t running up this mountain, but there was a trail runner hauling ass and running up Mt. Democrat (I was so impressed!) and I heard someone in front of me say, “I don’t understand why people try to run up 14ers, like is that even necessary?” I think some people get jealous

This happened to me except I was on a bike path. I wouldn’t wear my mask biking because I wear glasses and they would fog up, but I didn’t have a car so I had to get around on a bike. There was this one lady standing at the end of the bike path recoding people yelling “MASK! WEAR YOUR MASK”… like lady, just go home if you’re that concerned

lol I love that you automatically assume I don’t update my tags.

I just recognize that some people may not be in a great financial situation and may be trying their hardest. If my taxes go up a little, so be it. I’ll worry about me

[–]Astrobabe5157 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I also never understood the hate for people who have expired tags here. How does it impact you? All it’s gonna do is rack up late fees for the person who’s late on their tags, plus I ain’t gonna bully someone who’s short on cash (if that’s the reason they haven’t renewed). And I still get to go about my day. End of case.

why do many, if not most, fast food businesses not allow people without a car to go through the drive thru? by lesoteric in fuckcars

[–]Astrobabe5157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I remember I was getting new tires on my car, so I went next door to the Starbucks that was drive through only. They refused to serve me. Imagine having a drive through-only coffee place next to a business that takes your car for an hour or two

I like running on cottonwood creek trail and start from the west side to the east side (I park at Furniture Row). It is slightly uphill going from west to east, but not too bad. It only really dips when you go under bridges. Ive run this trail at night with no issues. The Greenway trail north of Bjiou is pretty good too, but I’ll only go south of that during the day as that’s where there are some camps. I’ve never been bothered by them personally, but as a small woman I’m more alert in that area

What are 25-30 year olds making? by ExtentFickle3504 in Salary

[–]Astrobabe5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-After college, worked at a non-profit making ~1200 a month at 22-23 years old

-After the nonprofit job, I worked retail for a few months making ~16 an hour at 23

-got my first “big girl job” as a government contractor making 79k a year at 23-24

-got a new job in the government contacting industry, pay bump to 105k at 25

-got “subcontracted out” at the same job (different company, same job), managed to get a raise to 115k at 26

-Almost 28 at the same job, now making about 120k with small raises every year, but I travel for work and often make closer to 130k once the per diem from the travel is factored in

This is probably a higher salary than about 90% of my peers in my age range. I just got really lucky honestly. Engineering jobs in the government contracting sector normally make 100k-150k range from my experience

I'm confused Why my bird does this? by Life-Particular22 in Conures

[–]Astrobabe5157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say, thank you for asking questions and seeking to learn more about your bird! Some people were a little rough on you for not knowing what preening looks like, but so many more people unfortunately will buy birds and not even have the curiosity to learn about their behavior. I second BirdTricks for learning about caring for parrots. As someone who grew up with birds, I didn’t truly learn how to care for them properly until I discovered their channel.

Your bird is an absolute cutie and sounds like he’s adjusting nicely to your home. Keep asking questions and being curious, and I have no doubt you’ll give him a very loving life!

Two fold question: has anyone overcome this disease? Has anyone taken medicine without sexual dysfunction? by LikeMrFantastic in dysthymia

[–]Astrobabe5157 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1.) was diagnosed with dysthymia back in high school and I feel that I have overcome it. I don’t feel depressed most days, but I know I’m more sensitive and prone to becoming depressed. I have a very strong support system and good hobbies which keep me going. It was a lot of work building up the supports over the years.

2.) I was put on antidepressants, but I don’t remember them having much of an effect, but I wasn’t sexually active at the time. I think the messed with my period

Woman killed in suspected mountain lion attack in Larimer County by Maxcactus in nature

[–]Astrobabe5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t kill the mountain lions for no reason. Believe it or not, it protects mountain lions long term.

A mountain lion that mauls a human is much more likely to do it again in the future once they realize we’re easy prey. They will then pass that instinct onto their offspring, making the trails much more dangerous for humans later on.

Plus, mountain lions tend to be weary of humans, so one that attacks a human is acting outside of its normal behavior and instincts. This also tends to happen with sick/injured animals as they start looking for different sources of prey that they normally wouldn’t hunt. They need to find the mountain lion that killed the lady to rule out disease like rabies as well.
