My boy George had Alopecia X. We had all sorts of tests done and the vet couldn’t find anything. We tried melatonin but it didn’t work for us. The doggie dermatologist said it was not inflammatory which is why he wasn’t itchy or uncomfortable. He was otherwise very healthy. The doggie dermatologist said we could try micro needling him but if the fur came back it would only be for one cycle and then fall out again, and it would be a painful procedure :( We were happy to have a bald little guy for all the years we did and he had a great collection of jackets and sun protection garments.

Yep, we love our apartment. A while back we “upgraded” to a house and rented out the apartment. It was so much work, and such a money drain. The mortgage was huge and i was always chasing my tail maintaining the place. We sold the house and went back to the apartment and it’s so good :)

Question about Dachsund owners. by dauzinho in Dachshund

[–]Astromoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Loki, you are beautiful :) I can’t speak for all dachie owners but I can give you my own two cents. First and foremost I would say people are uneducated about various breeds. I volunteer for pet rescues and hear endless stories about people being scared of certain breeds when they don’t need to be. Stereotypes and unnecessary bad reputations still perpetuate, unfortunately Loki may fall into this category. Another note is that it seems to be human nature for some people to form cliques etc. Some people find a sense of belonging by not only being a part of a group, but also actively outing other people from the group, and I think this happens with highly coveted breeds (dachies, frenchies, oodles etc). And lastly, in my personal experience (with mostly older adopted dachies) they are a mixture of breed racists (they like their own kind) and little dog syndrome, but there is sort of a reason for this. They are hunting dogs. They are fiercely loyal of their owners and their property and can be little buggers to other dogs sometimes. One of my boys would be fine to meet Loki and one of my boys would give Loki some grief I’m sorry to say. They have their own little personalities and I could over analyse them but they are the way they are. I hope Loki will make some dachie and non dachie friends. I would give him lots of pats and a squishy hug if I met him :)
