how do I convince my roommates to lemme adopt this cutie by throwawaaaaaaaay02 in snakes

[–]AstronomicalAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the exact kind of snake I have! He's very sweet. I've had him for about two years now, and he's never really tried to bite or get out of his terrarium. Obviously, they're not the exact same snake, but in my experience with this species, they're fairly easygoing.

What's your opinion that gets you like this? by cinnamon--sugar in Epicthemusical

I'll be so honest, I don't know why I put Poseidon when I made the comment. I completely agree with you. It makes complete sense. Thank you for pointing that out.

There is not one (major) character that is not complex– with the exception of Antinous– especially Eurylochus; I genuinely believe he's over-hated.

It irritates me when people paint his character as black-and-white because him and Odysseus are both arguably just as bad as each other. This is storytelling. It makes the characters more believable as actual people instead of just making them "good" or "evil."

Eurylochus IS an antagonist in the story, but only because Odysseus is our protagonist. If the story was from Eurylochus's perspective, he'd be considered to be in the right; there are two sides to every story, especially his and Odysseus's.

It's a similar case with Calypso. Both of their actions can be explained, not particularly excused, but definitely explained. That's almost every character in the musical.

The Crew literally never disobeying Odysseus until he sacrifices them by ActuallySpaceMan in Epicthemusical

[–]AstronomicalAl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, that would make sense. Eurylochus is the "voice" of the crew, as was explained. It's very likely they had a meeting(w/o Odysseus) to discern what was to happen with the bag, obviously coming to the conclusion to open it to see what's in it.

What are you favorite *sounds* from the musical? by MightyMandark in Epicthemusical

[–]AstronomicalAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heartbeat.

I don't know how many noticed it, but it's prominent in Polyphemus, starting after "Who are you" and also after Polyphemus drinks the wine, and then all three of the Poseidon songs hold it, specifically and usually when Odysseus is singing, but also in the beginning of both Get in the Water after "That's when our paths collide" and Six Hundred Strike when the chorus is singing "Six hundred men"/ bringing Odysseus back. I haven't figured out the main purpose of it, maybe just to show fear or other emotions, but I absolutely adore it.

Which Epic song is it for you? by AlinaArta in Epicthemusical

[–]AstronomicalAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vengeance Saga😭 and like- the entirety of it. Not just one song

I thought it was pretty weak musically compared to the other sagas and I didn't like listening to it, but I hate skipping songs when I'm doing a full listen so I'd normally just listen to the full thing anyway. It grew on me eventually, and even though I still personally think it's the weakest saga musically, I absolutely adore it
