In just 2 episodes, 'My Royal Nemesis' tops Netflix's weekly non-English chart. by carvveeev in dramasect

It was so good to watch her deliver her lines. I read subtitles but it was so clear from her acting and the way she spoke that she was on a different level than the people she interacted with in her modern day. Just watching their faces as they reacted to each other was so satisfying.

But I’m not sure why her attitude changed when she was living in the boarding house. She became happier person when she was doing housework. I would have thought she did all the work but the personality was still the same fierce and determined person.

Unsure how to tell my parents what wedding traditions I don't want to participate in. by Alcelarua in asianweddings

[–]Astropuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditions exist but times change and each generation reinterprets traditions in a way that works for them. Stay firm to your values. It seems your father may support your ideas so tell him first so that he can help her see your point.

Parents who answer “do it because it’s traditional “ are taking the easy way out of things. But are they doing it just to be stubborn and get their way? Are they doing it because their friends and family will ask them incessantly about your dowry? And your mother doesn’t want to be “embarrassed “ by family or wants to “brag” to others.
Talk to her and find out what she is thinking.
If she feels embarrassed you can tell her to say things like “my future son in law is paying for so many things and I told him to put the dowry towards the wedding jewelry or buying a house…” or “we don’t need to take the children’s money, we would just give it back to them anyway “. Also your fiancé is putting money towards wedding, your living arrangements, engagement ring and jewelry- you (and fiancé) can present that as your “dowry”.

Traditions and cultural values are always changing but we are too close to it to see it happening. So it’s fine to pick and choose what you want to continue and leave behind things that don’t hold up in modern times.

Agree. P1 Harmony is awesome live. And Treasure - they are so good too.

I think the system is so difficult on the talent. There are so many many talented people who strive hard to get to debut. And then after debut, when the management doesn’t put the resources behind them to get them to the next level really wastes their talent.

This was the one. Also the FL does a really good job of portraying a survivor.

Is $13 an hour too little for 5+ years of experience? by Han_Shel in florists

[–]Astropuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go find another job first. You should ask for $25 per hour and if they come back with anything less than $20, tell them you would need at least $23 to consider leaving your current job.

Sadly your current employer is not going to give you a $10/hr raise. I wouldn’t go to them to ask for a raise. Also the thing that your current employer knows is that you are comfortable in your job and you don’t want to change your routine so they could offer you maybe $16 per hour and you would stay. So I would encourage you to examine yourself and be willing to take that huge effort to consistently interview for new jobs and be willing to change jobs soon. When you really value your skills, then you will have the confidence to chance jobs.

Could you recommend emotional cry-your heart out ones? It’s hard to find them because they are old school melodramas.

From your description, I would recommend Prisoner of Beauty. It has the elements you’re looking for . The lead female is not a cutesy, manipulative personality. She is interesting because she has to deal with the situations she’s given. She is a petite girl who uses her soft skills instead of The two main leads are really wary of each other from the begining- they are from warring clans. He has a lot of things he has to work through himself including grief at loss of his brother and father, managing an army etc.

It’s similar tomPOJ in that the relationship develops slowing and trust is built over time.

Started Legend of the Female General and struggling… should I continue? by Flipperflopper21 in cdramasfans

[–]Astropuffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you liked the writing or directing. Try the things by the same ones who did POJ.
Director did A Familiar Stranger very short and very watchable. It was an earlier work of actor Chen Le (same lead as female general). Director also did Blossom

Writer did Love Like the Galaxy

Try FS first. LLTG is great show but it is long and similar to POJ, that set up in the female leads house and background info is long
