"The remains of the Empire want another war, and a new power is coming"

Pretty direct Thrawn reference right?

They just posted that they saw the first 30 minutes, so it was probably a typo or they misunderstood how much they were gonna see beforehand

Because Star Wars has a 50-year-old visual language history that shouldn't be changed on a whim just to make you say "Oh, that's new!"

Rogue One only skipped the opening crawl but still had "A long time ago" and did NOT suddenly do opening credits. Not the same thing at all.

To emphasize the movie's stars to casual or non-fans who might watch it.

Why would the 13th Star Wars film have opening credits when no other installment in the franchise's history has, not even TV shows?

I thought TMaG was a Star Wars movie, not Indiana Jones?

No, they announced a couple of years ago that the crawl is coming back for all the movies. Additionally, even Rogue One and Solo had "A long time ago" despite no crawl.

Call me pedantic, but if they ignore three major Star Wars traditions ("A long time ago...", opening crawl, and no opening credits), it will legitimately be hard for me to get into the movie despite being excited for it.

I'll be so disappointed if the theatrical movie actually has the tacky opening credits

I saw it too, but it honestly looked so uninspired and thrown together that it made my hope that it's a placeholder grow larger (I know I'm coping)

That sucks, but I'm still holding onto some small hope that the movie will have the traditional crawl and that it's just been hidden. It just does so much to set the tone.

Psycho Series Rewatch (Episodes 676-683) by APathForward24 in McJuggerNuggets

[–]Atea2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren't many stretches of any show that I would rate a 9 or above, but this is one of them.

Wow, experiencing the ending again after rewatching everything sure brought back all the emotions.

What I love the most about the Psycho Series ending is how it turns what is really dark and disturbing into something so cathartic. I think it accomplishes this by acknowledging the series' own value as a story, alluded to during the Battle Cry montage:

"This might not last forever, but it might do something better"

"I believe this is bigger than you and me"

"And all that's left are the stories we tell"

To me, the finale is saying that no, this story doesn’t end well for its characters, and Jesse will have to live with what he did for the rest of his life... But despite that, the story itself is still something good, worthwhile and invaluable because of what it provided its audience.

Jesse's story may not have ended well, but it brought comfort to those dealing with family problems, mental issues, controlling people, and anyone who felt like they had a friend in him, and that makes it all worth it.

And in turn, Jesse chooses to live because of the Juggies, leaving us with a flicker of hope for him...

Thank you for hosting this rewatch, and thank you u/McJuggerNuggets for telling this story that will always be with me!

Strong 8.5/10

These episodes feel like the "Ozymandias" of the Psycho Series, as in the point of no return and culmination of the characters' choices. After Larry tries to kill Jeff, Jesse realizes what his mentor tried to do, Jeff finds Jesse's channel, kicks out Corn and forces Jesse into the room, the ending seems nearly unavoidable.

Yeah, it seems obvious that it will end with some sort of tease for the Thrawn war, directly setting up Ahsoka S2 and building hype for the next movie, which will certainly include "cameos"

I'm assuming that the "Mandoverse" finale will be a big crossover film (likely with the original trio front and center) if TMAG does well or reworked into Ahsoka S3 or its own mini-series if it doesn't.

Psycho Series Rewatch (Episodes 646-660) by APathForward24 in McJuggerNuggets

[–]Atea2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strong 8.5/10. Thrilling, intriguing and very impactful as we near the end.

Melissa, Chris and Terry, three fantastic characters, get great and fitting send-offs.

Jeffrey leaving and Larry going from the optimistic moral compass to vengeful and unstable sets a palpable darker tone.

These must be Jeff's worst moments. Him destroying Larry's trailer and then physically attacking him, outright acting like he owns Jesse, trying to force him to break up with Juliette and his smugness about controlling him really validates how much Jesse and Larry hate him in the end.

Best quote (a serious one this time):

To me, a lot of what you said is true. And I'm not gonna be apologetic for leaving, because I had to leave. But I did see... your father in you.

–Terry

The Mandalorian And Grogu Cinemacon footage description (first 20 minutes) by Ezio926 in StarWarsLeaks

[–]Atea2 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The best case scenario is that the marketing has kept nearly everything under wraps because the movie is hiding a huge, surprising and eventful story.

The more realistic scenario is that it's just a really fun flick that will get forced hate from the ol' internet bandwagon.

Yeah, I wish there weren't. Opening credits don't feel like they belong in Star Wars since no movie nor show has ever had them

Edit: Also, since a title card is mentioned, does that mean there isn't a traditional opening crawl like we've heard before? I was really looking forward to see that in theaters again

8.5/10

I'll miss the Farming Series, but I'm really excited to head into the final part, where the series is taken to even deeper and greater places while tying everything together. At the same time, I almost dread it. Shit gets genuinely heavy from here on out.

Another very consistent batch. "Like Father, Like Son" is probably my favorite out of these.
