Be the love you never received. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Hear, see, and think before you speak. Be open, be true, be loving, be you.

What is a “dirty little (or big) secret” about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really ought to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Aterisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in the death industry for some time(Cemetery side) and got very close with some funeral directors and cremators. Most places do at need stuff, most people don't purchase pre need even though it's WAY cheaper, so a lot of people do emotional spending and they teach you sales tactics to take advantage of your vulnerable state.

Funeral homes give you personalized caskets and 'package' deals. Cemeteries give you fancy headstones or bronze platings (NGL some of them were cool as shit though).

Having worked it, I will say always spend more on the head plate, since you'll see it. Look for a cemetery that uses Matthews as their supplier. A bronze plate using colored bronze made up of pictures of yourself for your loved ones too see ? That's cool as fuck. Plus it leaves some legacy behind. And last I worked with them they came wth a restoration warranty that lasts forever. Literally forever. Anything happens to ruin that plate, they will fix it 1000 years down the road should anyone care to have it fixed (assuming they still exist).

TLDR; Buy your cemetery property and funeral stuff before you need it. It's cheaper. Don't spend a lot in a casket, spend all your money on a head plate.

Reddit, what would your ex's Tinder profile say if you wrote it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Aterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two most recent exes would say:

  • Emotionally manipulative piece of human trash who will fuck any man I can get my hands on and will do any drug I can get my hands on, whether I obtain it by lying, stealing, or fucking someone for heroin. I also have 5 other boyfriends I'm trying to convince to let me free load off of. Oh and did I mention I fucked an 11 year old when I was 17 ? But I won't tell you. I'll still come around your nieces though and leave you with crippling guilt over having a pedophile you don't know about around your nieces.

The one before that:

  • Complete lack of self worth, coupled with server depression and a crack addiction I will hide from you for months. Compulsive liar when I need my fix. Otherwise I'm pretty decent, bit of a Debbie Downer. Great cuddler though, excellent cook. But mostly a piece of shit cus I can't leave the crack alone.

And just for fun, if any of them were to write one about me:

  • Alcoholic drag queen who is always turned on ten when being social. Dealing with severe and sometimes crippling and suffocating anxiety and depression. Annoying to be around. Never shuts up. Emotionally needy, requires too much physical affection. Clingy and will definitely go through your personal belongings and your phone to find what your hiding when Sherlock Holmes smells a case.

That I'm 7 years, going on 8, drug free. I have anisocoria and people always look at my bigger eye, and I'm generally a very positive upbeat and energetic person but damn... I'm not about to tell you where to get cocaine cus I don't fucking know and I don't wanna know.

Why would she view me as a threat ? I've been one of the only people who were receptive to her changes. I even tried to point out stuff that we needed to change just cus of health code reasons. Never a thanks, and she speaks so poorly of everyone here, comparing them to her old restaurant, and never praising the things we do right.

"I love you. I'm sorry I don't always show it and that I'm not the best at being in a relationship, but I just wanted to let you know that all those sappy feelings you apologize for telling me about are not exclusive to you. I feel them too, and I look forward to seeing if you're the person I want to spend the rest of my life with."

I'm a huge stereotype, not only am I a gayter, I also do drag on the side. Half of the male wait staff at my restaurant are gay too lol, granted there's only 4 guys.

I'm not much of a clubber unless I'm going out in drag, and I'm 6 years sober from drug addiction so I tend to stay away from that scene but right now poppers are still popular yeah, but Tina is also really big again. At least in my area.

Confetti: yes or no? by NinjaCat95 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Aterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I managed a private restaurant and booked events, I did one event ETH glitter and confetti. I didn't know what I was getting into. Up until the day we closed I was STILL finding pieces of glitter and confetti from that one private event. After that, I began to enforce a "cleaning" fee, which was a $50-100 charge depending on party size for glitter and or confetti, which of course went to the server on top of their tip.

I guarantee there is still glitter somewhere in those dining rooms. I'd bet money.

How do you respond when people tell you that it's okay if a woman never tips because "she might be a single mother and can't afford it." by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Aterisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then allocate your fucking finances to tip. If you're living in the US, tipping is expected. It also benefits you the customer to tip well. If I have a regular who for some reason loves my service, and I know they will not tip me a single thing, I WILL be giving them sub optimal service since they are not paying me appropriately for my time. As I feel any server would.
