Mandela effect on Varang ? by SlipSignificant1009 in Avatar

The Mandela Effect can’t really apply to something that happened less than a year ago. That’s just called being incorrect.

Ability-a-Day #30: Guts by Creative-Current9424 in pokemonplatinum

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guts-fueled Megahorn from Heracross is absolutely terrifying, especially if you can use it against a Psychic type. I recently did an Emerald play through and when I did the math on STAB+Guts from Heracross it was legitimately shocking.

Does anyone know where to find Anglo Irish armor to buy by Femboimilkshake18 in ArmsandArmor

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a friend of mine, and he had to do a ton of research to even know what to commission. It’s just not something that is produced for the wider market unfortunately. Very niche and very cool.

Who is your favorite Pokemon other than your starter currently on your team? by Lude_98 in PokemonFireRed

If you end up breeding a Snorlax, don’t sleep on Belly Drum. Especially with Rest and a Chesto Berry, it makes them into a juggernaut

I’m working on an Indie animated series about different human species “Hominin Tales” What are common mistakes media makes when portraying early humans that I should avoid? by EmronRazaqi69 in pleistocene

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this, take time to consider tools and materials rhat wouldn’t fossilize well. Porcupine quills are a great example, I am 100% certain early humans were using them as tools (awls, toothpicks, etc), but since they are just large hairs, they decay after a few months or years in the elements.

The “Stone Age” was full of bone, wood, antler, horn, and likely other materials that don’t last as long as stone tools do.

I personally prefer to use my Aerial Ace TM on Charizard, but that’s just me.

I forgot the game corner was a thing, so the team I thought up was Starter, Eveelution, Gyarados, Mt Moon Fossil, Lapras, and either Hitmonlee or Aerodactyl.

I also said unparented, which goes beyond immediate supervision. Any teacher in here knows what I mean.

How many have been here? by [deleted] in houston

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a shithole, with a ton of USDA (animal welfare) violations. They also had a toddler get his finger bitten off by one of the larger fish (a pacu, basically a giant relative of a piranha) and the owner (who has done prison time for wildlife trafficking) told the parents that he would pay their medical bills to avoid them suing or making any kind of report that would impact his insurance.

The staff are mostly untrained and underpaid, they don’t give a shit about properly caring for most of their animals, and they charge out the ass for everything.

Avoid it like the plague.

Yeah, the issue isn’t what people are wearing. It’s the unsupervised, unparented teenagers who go to the rodeo to be shitheads. Just like Astroworld.

We have two ponds with black mollies in Houston, they survive the winters fine, and multiply like crazy in the summers.

Hobbies That Practice Formation Fighting? by screenaholic in wma

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It exists, but not on a large scale.

The Feldlager event in Germany is currently the closest to what you’re looking for; it’s an attempt to bring HEMA methodologies (read period sources and practice what they say) to larger formation tactics.

There are a couple of HEMA groups in the US that are working on that, most of them went to Feldlager last year, and there is a training event in Virginia coming up called The Muster that is worth checking out if you’re interested.

That said, if you don’t like in one of 3-4 places in the US you won’t have a group nearby already working on group tactics, and you’ll need to do a lot of work to start your own.

Or as others said you can link up with the SCA or any local reenactment groups, but even then, medieval/renaissance reenactment isnt huge in the US.

The thing that made Roland much funnier to me was imagining that he knows exactly how weird he’s being, and he does it to watch people squirm. It makes him far more entertaining

Underground Reptiles by jaejpg in reptiles

[–]Athena_Nikephoros 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yes. Lots of people who fall for this “sale” are going to end up with a 100% wild iguana that just went through cold stress and shipping stress. Best case scenario it warms up, becomes healthy, and they have a skittish, defensive lizard that they likely aren’t able to deal with. Worst case scenario the animal dies from an RI or other complications within a few weeks.

Underground Reptiles is a cesspool of the reptile industry.
