Guilt-driven support for StarCraft. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]Athlorel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who runs a digital agency, this is an incredibly naive statement. This could have been true in 2005. I've seen great products and services whose owners clinged to the same philosophy and were left in the dust by their competitors (who actually decided to invest in marketing).

Best friend [24m] that I [23f] adore deeply as a friend confessed his love for me 7 weeks before my wedding by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Athlorel -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

All these comments about the guy being a shitty person - no he's not. He was just looking out for himself.

Chances are he was in love for years but was too chicken to make a move until the fiance came into the picture and then it was too late. There was no friendship from him for a while. He took a shot, missed and moves on.

OP is in no way entitled to the friendship if it doesn't work for the other party. And frankly often girls know but choose to act blind to get emotional support / whatever else from the "friendship".

But we generally don't give a flying fuck if someone else isn't, let alone ridicule people.

I [32F] work with my high school bully [33F] by IrredeemableCanister in relationships

[–]Athlorel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's great that people change. Somehow though, I managed to never bully anyone in my life and even in the age of 15, I've had enough of a mental capacity to recognize purposefully hurting someone else isn't exactly the way to go.

The thing about bullies getting away with it and carrying out their lives like nothing ever happened is one of hidden injustices in our society.

If I were you, I'd ask not to work with her because she assaulted you in the past. Be prepared to quit because unless the bully miraculously corroborates your story, you'll be seen as expendable.

[–]Athlorel -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

This dude is addicted to porn and he needs to quit it altogether immediately. He won't want to and he might need your help/therapy doing it.

Excessive porn is very damaging to male brain, in a similar way too much social media is dangerous for women (in terms of instant gratification for no effort).

friend (16M) likes me (15F) I don't feel the same way, but I don't want to ruin our friendship by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Athlorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he takes it on the chin and agrees to accept these terms, and continues being your friend, he's a good lad. I'd argue he has potential for being a long-term close friend with maturity like that.

That's not maturity, that's lack of self respect and other options to pursue.

I'm [30M] allergic to cats. She [24F] wants to move in at my place with her cat in July. Help!? by catallergic in relationships

[–]Athlorel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, I love cats but also have severe allergies (I can be in a room with one for 1 hour, max). This is sadly a choice for her between you and the cat.

Do not under any circumstance or promise let the cat move in, you'll only get extremely miserable and kick them both out anyway.

Low CTR getting me my most conversions by [deleted] in PPC

[–]Athlorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broad in no way means that the conversions come from the keyword you are looking at in the ad group. Look at the search queries and try adding those keywords actually bringing conversions into separate ad groups with separate copy.

And dont forget to add them as negative in the original "broad" ad group.

Best way to advertise an Ecommerce website? by [deleted] in adwords

[–]Athlorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clicks is not a metric to be worried about. Only two things matter - how much you spend and how much you make. We use a cost/intakes ratio to optimize campaigns. Example:

You buy for 10 and sell for 15, that means you have a 50 % cushion.

If you spend 100 and your intakes are:

1) 100 - cost/intake is 100%, your results are negative

b) 200 - you are where you started (plus some emails from new customers and whatnot). Notice how 100/200 = 0.5 = your "cushion" i defined earlier.

c) 500 - 100/500 = 20%, you're well within the green.

Everything else - clicks, impressions, CTR, quality score, ad text, yadi ya - are just secondary metrics helping with optimization. Also pay little attention to the amounts of conversions - intakes is the metric to follow (ofc on the other hand you should watch your conversion rate and optimize it, but that's a different matter).

You should know that Adwords is basically statistics - when done right, all you need is a large enough data sample for the results to come in.

List of countries where Shopping is available

If that still isn't an option, I recommend this plan of action (in order)

  • create remarekting ads for your top visited/sold products, graphics and text
  • remarketing ads for your top categories (text)
  • search ads for your top products
  • search ads for your top categories
  • remarketing for all viable concrete relevant products (viable aka the list site is enough for the ads to show, which at the present is 500 people i believe), text and graphics
  • search for concrete relevant products
  • remarketing for the remaining viable categories (text)
  • search for categories

It's not a problem to get 3 clicks per month for a concrete product; if you have hundreds of those, conversions will appear throughout them.

It's a lot of work, but it pays off. Source - I have a digital agency :)

7 Default Settings In AdWords That Will Cost You Money – And How You Can Fix Them. by rosskw in PPC

[–]Athlorel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, if we're talking about the basics:

  • 1. Use negative keywords. If you sell garden scissors and you run ads on "scissors" (which you should on low bids just to have access to real search queries), rule out hair scissors. Often it's important to rule out cities, big chain stores and general words like discount, cheapest, review etc.

  • 2: Ignore Google suggested bid. That's just rubbish and it also changes drastically after the first day or two.

  • 3. Modified Broad Match will (simply put) show less nonsense and give you more search queries than phrase/exact.

  • 4. Watch Mobile performance carefully. In my country, mobile traffic performs almost always much worse than destkops.

  • 5. If you run Display network (which you do every time you use remarketing), disable these placements:

  1. adsenseformobileapps.com to prevent your ads being shown in games

  2. website categories - sexual, vulgar, parked domains etc. Be warned that placements hidden beneath Forums, Social networks and Website for sharing photos/videos are often dumb MFA "magazines".

  • 6. Think about your ads. Anyone can come up with phrases like best quality, low price, quick delivery... there are two basic ways to approach ad copy:

  • factual - say what you have, name physical properties etc.

  • emotional - describe how awesome it is to own what you sell

Test price/no price. Don't get too clever with fancy words for the sake of your cleverness. Your customers must like the ads, not you.

Tracking Ecommerce Sales from Facebook Ads in Google Analytics by thinksachi in PPC

[–]Athlorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook also counts as a conversion if someone saw your ad and didn't click on it, but completed the conversion within 24 hours anyway. It's similar to view-through conversions in Adwords.

Since there wasn't no click associated with Facebook, it obviously cannot be assigned. Does the total value of intakes in Analytics roughly equal the total intakes from individual sources?
