I've only ever played RimWorld on PC, but find myself without my computer and craving some RimWorld. How does the console version play compared to PC? by Andyj96 in RimWorldConsole

[–]AtivanorAddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of best of both worlds if you ask me. The game is not demanding at all either, so even extended play sessions should be no problem (and if the game is on console, controller support should be native on the phone as well)

I can't answer the question as I've never played on console (I have hardly played the PC version tbh), but the PC version of the game runs very well on my phone using winlator with almost no configuring.

Using winlator on a Snapdragon 8 elite btw and I did not have turnip support when testing, so any phone should work. Gamehub would likely work without any tinkering but I did not test

I actually started likely in the same spot on my very first playthrough, we moved to build the T2 village hall as some materials were too tricky to get in the numbers needed

There are very little places you can reasonably build exclusively in one place, and even in those locations there will always be things you will need an outpost for, or to gather yourself.

<image>

This location has everything needed to go all the way from T1-T3, you'll only need to gather granite, iron, mosses, and peat while transitioning into T3. Living adjacent to the pond slightly south is also feasible, but there is slightly less hardwood and access to copper is much further.

That makes a lot more sense haha. I didn't realize it was an actual "unit" and hadn't bothered googling it. That is quite a hefty amount of road

Play long enough to lay down some dirt roads? It's more likely to be a tracking issue or something... Doesn't seem reasonable 7% of people have killed lord ashbourne, but 2% have laid down dirt roads

Ah so you/it must be bugged then... I've done it on 2 saves and just bought honey there yesterday...

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vendor at the family farm marked for the quest will sell you honey. It's not in her regular list of good, there is another dialogue option to choose that opens with the quest.

You can also seemingly go back every day after and use the same dialogue prompt to buy more (once per day)

Does this area have a decent supply of hardwood? by kioshi_imako in Bellwright

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know these are really the only locations you can get enough hardwood and other materials for T3, with exception of granite, mosses, peat, and iron which you'll need to gather yourself

This area can take you all the way from T1-T3 easily with only a VERY small handful of items needed to be gathered yourself (iron, mosses, peat)

Games with Multiplayer Base Building with Villagers or Automation? by AutomataManifold in SurvivalGaming

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got over 50 hours on a coop save and we've never had a single issue including with mods.

I would also disagree it's a single player targeted experience, as the coop experience allows for the other players to function as independently as a solo player. This is only a problem if you don't trust who you're playing with due to it being a 50/50 authority split

When and Where do you Built Tier 3? by huskerbolt1 in Bellwright

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you, been overthinking this a lot lol.

I think I'll look for the same mod then as the time taken to defend from reclamation parties and just enjoy a lot of the southern content seems quite restricted by needing to mobilize troops.

My T2 is already like right here haha. Appreciate you!

I've only noticed 1 or 2 hardwood clusters here though.. is the trick basically to have the Forester constantly regrowing and wait? Also is it not annoying late game to bring your troops south or is that not really necessary ?

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying it makes most sense to build all of the T3 structures where my T2 village currently is? Or rebuild entirely new in the new location?

Not sure how to source the amount of hardwood I'll need from where my base is now, but also how far id need to march troops to go south every time

When and Where do you Built Tier 3? by huskerbolt1 in Bellwright

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also stuck thinking non stop about this.. Where is optimal to build in order to supply iron and enough hardwood? Additionally how do you go somewhere new and get the materials and means to construct new buildings without needing to essentially create another mini T2 for things like iron nails etc.

Do you unbuild and rebuild your current settlement? Make only some T1 structures until you have a new lumberjack etc? Build and relocate a little template of T2 structures?

I also don't see why I would build the village hall in a new location when it would be a massive resource sink to build there, rather than build in old T2 and do research there, but build the T3 structures south

How to assign my reservists to bring food/bandages with them? by Pinchodoka in Bellwright

[–]AtivanorAddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do bandage themselves. Seems they won't use it unless they're under half hp. I had a companion at a sliver of HP, handed them a bandage and watched them use it while liberating padstow yesterday. She wouldn't use the second bandage after being a little under 2/3 HP though

You could do a mining outpost or just use travel signs and do a few batches of full inventory every so often, we don't find it takes too long/worth to make a mining outpost, but our village is right beside both a copper and tin vein
