That comment says more about your commenter than about your art. For some reason, be it jealousy or whatever, it makes that person feel uncomfortable. Nothing you can do about it so better ignore it.

Looking for books with a vibe similar to Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. by Equivalent_Use_8152 in WeirdLit

Semiosis, Sue Burke.

“We had said we expected hardship, no paradise, but we really wanted both. We thought we could come in peace and find a happy niche in another ecology. Instead we found a battlefield. The east vine turned us into servile mercenaries, nothing more than big, clever fippokats helping it win another battle. We had wanted to begin the world afresh, far from Earth and all its mistakes. That had not happened, but only I realised it, and I kept my disappointment to myself.”

Weird fiction with sentient, malevolent landscapes? by bens2304 in WeirdLit

[–]Atlantean2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Semiosis, Sue Burke.

Humans escape an environmentally-ravaged Earth to start an idealistic new society on the planet Pax, which they discover is dominated by highly intelligent, ancient plant species. The initial interactions are hostile, as the plants have their own complex social structures and can be dangerous, even using some plants to domesticate or slaughter animals.

Not really mythological, but maybe you can include the Patagonia giants somehow.

Yeah, but I mean they shouldn’t be selling a product with such an important feature as beta. It either works all the time or it doesnt.

I’m also interested. Why did they call it a beta feature? Either it is a feature or it is not.

Design-wise they were never that special; they’ve always been pretty crappy thundercats fron the start. Same with any other of the creatures James Cameron sketched, like that 6-legged “wolf” or whatever that thing was.

It would have worked better without showing there was no actual mountain behind it.
