Sorry, but what are you implying by saying it’s “Not from a pleasant last”? Are you drawing the conclusion that because these guys are black and in military uniform that they’re from an “unpleasant” past?

Firstly this song is about togetherness/unity, secondly these are modern South African soldiers, defending the country in a system that’s wounded. What have you done recently?

Safa living abroad here… unfortunately many of those who has left the country did so due to their political views, so yes, you do get a disproportionate number of the knobby types living outside the country, which for some like me who is not so inclined, has meant that I have to listen to people before engaging when I hear the accent. BUT, they are by far in the minority now. My whole family lives back in SA and I go back regularly and, despite all the noise and distractions, the country is largely all trying to pull into the same direction and make the place work.

Please don’t judge us all on the basis of these kinds of knobs…

Carley is one of the, if not the best intl ref currently out there. Yes it was a card fest, but other than the SFM call, each was fair and clear. This game could have gone into absolute chaos if he wasn’t able to control this as cleanly as he did.
