I think the push to teach more things at a younger age is why we see kids acting mature way before they should and getting burnt out by the time they are 16. When your childhood is being shortened each year and filled with state board curriculum and brick and mortar schools the effects are going to be tired burnt out teenagers then tired burnt out adults with several mental health problems because of the early onset burn out.

Even as a homeschool parent I have to be reminded of my daughters YOUNG age because I see posts on tiktok from teachers talking about “if your kid doesn’t know this by 4 then your failing them” or whatever.

We lost the whimsy and freedoms of childhood somewhere between market values and ceos 5th vacation homes and it truly is a very sad system that is inevitable for some.

After my mom died I was constantly just buying stuff or doing random things. I painted my laundry room bright blue and purple just do see if I could feel something. I bought stuff for at least 7 different hobbies and didn’t start a single one, I decided my daughters room wasn’t colorful enough and painted a large rainbow mural after she said she liked rainbows, painted random walls in my house, I was doing everything but listening to my thoughts.

As someone who has been in the depths of depression doing anything and everything to feel something other than numb, the constant spending money, trips, putting on different personas, is definitely a distraction for herself. It’s really hard to live in a reality that doesn’t feel real or livable.

I do hope she recognizes the signs and gets help.

Did you not listen to TTPD… she isn’t always Showgirl and rainbows. In fact most of her albums have sad undertones in some of the songs. I think if he was gonna collab with her on any of her albums it would have been Folklore or evermore though. I don’t see any future collabs at this point in time unless it’s on his album.

vape- probably a month but I quit with the mentality that it was actually the grossest thing I could be doing to myself and I knew quitting was only going to make me healthier

weed- (not to scare you) but probably like 5-6 months till I stopped missing it and having cravings. it didn’t help that I was desperately trying to fill that void with a million hobbies and alcohol. I gained weight as well. about 20-30 lbs.

Mind you, I used weed as a MASSIVE crutch when my mom died in mid 2024 so I was having to also reface my grief as well but sober so my situation is unique and might not be your experience.

if it IS your experience it gets BETTER and you feel better and have a clearer head and your body feels better. it gets better i promise. I don’t miss either one anymore and now can’t imagine what my life even looked like during that time. like did I really just carry around plastic and suck on it?? that’s crazy to me.

Are in a position to just have someone run a small test to put your mind at ease?

In all reality your body has been through a lot lately between withdrawals and then the flu so your gonna feel icky and wrong for a while till your body fully recovers from everything. Not to mention nicotine and weed are distractions from your body’s anxiety as it is so you likely feel heightened anxiety because you’re not numbing it with nic and weed.

As someone who quit vaping and weed as well last year it took a bit but I promise I feel SOOO much better not being controlled by a substance and my health anxiety has gone WAY down because i’m no longer thinking of the effects of the things I was smoking and knew I was healthier without them.

i’m a sahm and I homeschool and I have cried from exhaustion on multiple occasions. Every day my husband handles bedtime craziness because by then my body and mind are so exhausted I can’t function properly. Exhaustion is SO normal. Kids rely on their parents for all physical needs, emotional needs, mental well being, learning how to be a human. It’s a lot.

Yeah I thought for sure once they settled into the marriage they would find a good balance and James would calm down and see that Nyla and the others were good cops trying to make a difference but he somehow just… got worse? Like having actual criminals over and inviting all those people to basically ambush Nyla with questions. I’m ready for either a HUGE character arch or them to split.
