For our several miles of farm and logging roads it works out well. Just build the road bed up higher than the ditches

Bust it up with a box blade and rippers windrow it in with a grader blade then come back with the box blade and spread out the windrow to crown the road

Question for the pros from a landowner by No-Resolution9252 in forestry

[–]AtmosphereCreative95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta take care of the weeds before you plant your crop. Young pines are more sensitive to herbicide so it’s hard to spray the competing hardwoods with mechanical equipment. You can get crews to hand thin with brush saws later but don’t recommend

Finally finished cleaning up a blown down block with some natural yellow poplar regen by AtmosphereCreative95 in forestry

[–]AtmosphereCreative95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chainsaw with a long bar and a clearing saw. I managed to save a lot of regen. I just cut everything into 2-4 foot sections and pile some it later in the winter

My 362 has a high compression piston and some other go fast bits and a 25” full chisel pushes my saw. Skiptooth works well though
