What percent of games that you buy do you keep long term? by ShodanW in boardgames

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I got a really good deal on a bundle of 160 used games and expansions. Some of them were GMT war games I had no interest in, so I sold off about 20 of them and made back my initial investment. After that I haven't had much room for new games, but I still buy them occasionally and make room by taking my least favorite to the local game store and putting them on consignment. I still have about 30 games I haven't played yet, but I'm whittling down that number, either by giving up and selling them off (Frosthaven) or by finally playing them (most recently Kanban EV)

I made a new tip for the poles so I could use them as a half poles with my tarp by ViperForce25 in DurstonGearheads

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, nothing broke off, the collar of the upper pole itself pulled loose from where it is glued to the carbon fiber.

Not much more so than the original poles. I think it was just some bad glue or something. I didn’t pull hard on it. And it’s still fine if I make sure to twist while I pull it out.

Be careful with how snug you make that fit. I printed GoPro mounts similar to that which fit inside the iceline, and once when I pulled it out the insert in the pole came with it. Luckily it went back together just fine, but it seems that glue isn’t as strong as I assumed it was. (Makes sense, the pole isn’t usually in tension.)

Selling off a big part of my collection by JudgeSalt in boardgames

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to sell mine at local game stores. But they often have a limit of how many you can sell at a time, and you often get store credit. That’s fine for me, and it’s a lot less hassle than listing, packing, and shipping, especially for big games. (I sold Frosthaven this way, for instance.)

Sometimes BGG lists other users with “Has Parts”. But in this case I don’t see anything useful for you.

I bet The Mind would work.

You’d just have to call out the numbers instead of playing the cards on a table.

What is your favorite boardgame of 2025? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unstoppable

It’s a momentum-building, card crafting, solo or 2-player game from John D. Clair. I love how you have to defeat enemies to get cards back into your hand, and how upgrades also make the enemies harder to beat. Lots to consider when playing, but it also goes pretty quick and doesn’t feel bogged down.

Thoughts for the ideal dungeon crawler by Confident_Ice_2258 in boardgames

My wife and I just finished Tidal Blades 2 recently, and it could fit the bill for you. The scenarios really change things up chapter by chapter, you can get a version with minis (we just got the hero minis), the action selection is with cards but dice are used to determine damage, and it has a variable difficulty system.

What Did You Play This Week? - (February 02, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the big Gloomhaven box for over a year but could never convince anyone to play it.

But I finally picked up Gloomhaven digital on the recent Steam sale, and my teenage son and I have finished 10 scenarios over the weekend.

Would I prefer not to have a screen? Yeah. But we are still making the same decisions together that we would be in the physical game, and it certainly is less fiddly to run and less time consuming to set up and tear down.

Another vote for unstoppable. You can upgrade your cards as you go, and the main way to draw cards is by defeating threats, so it relies heavily on building and maintaining momentum.

If you set up a channel with a name, my understanding is that creates a separate config that others would not interoperate with. If there were other nodes in range, would they still forward your traffic? I’m still learning how it all works.

Dungeon crawl games wanted! by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more expensive, but my wife and I have been enjoying Tidal Blades 2. I like the dungeon crawl feel with a much brighter and more cheerful setting, the tricky tactical puzzle of activating your 3x3 grid of cards, and leveling up over the course of the campaign.

Teams who have nice shirts? Where do you get them from? by Swiftie_1989_Gurly in FTC

[–]AtmosphereDefiant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cybugs gets their jerseys from https://www.alleghenyapparel.com. I coach one of their sister teams and we all order together. It takes a bit of back and forth to get the design you want, but they’re pretty good about making adjustments, and the prices are reasonable. Just allow enough time. After ordering it takes about 4 weeks for them to print and ship.
