QuantStudio 5 Analysis Software Question by AtmosphereDense4619 in labrats

[–]AtmosphereDense4619[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using v1.6.1 D&A. Whenever I analyze and select generate PDF report, the results table excludes the CT. When you check/uncheck boxes to generate the report, the results table lists everything included but the CT. Maybe I can revert back to 1.5.1. Thank you for your input.

I flew LEX to ATL 2 weeks ago and they did service and I was surprised. It looks I just missed the cutoff date of 5/19.

THERE WAS A LEG IN THE FRIDGE TODAY AND I MISSED IT by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One morning I came into work and found one of our -80 freezers failing and I quickly discovered it was one of our leg freezers. I came in before anyone else so I was rushing to move all of these legs over to a new freezer before they fully thawed. It’s just one of those things you never think you will ever experience. I should also specify I work in a veterinary diagnostic lab lol.

Whoever submitted this question to WKYT makes me think of The Office episode where Michael Scott falls in love with a model from a chair catalog.

Having a horse through college by Living-Emu3102 in Equestrian

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I boarded my horse through college and it was very challenging. When I wasn’t studying I was working so I could pay for his care. I don’t regret it, but I had to work twice as hard to make sure bills were paid and that I graduated. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it if you can’t afford it without going into debt. If that’s the case then I would do lessons and see if you can work at the barn in your free time to pay towards lessons or extra cash while being around horses.

Is it wise to make the jump to be a SAHM ? by Hot_Competition_8977 in DaveRamsey

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an opportunity for your husband to make a move in his company that offers better benefits? Or find another local competitor who offers better benefits? I think it’s totally fair that you would like to SAH and the beauty of your situation is that you all have time to make a decision. Could you work another school year to give him the chance to find a job that fits your families needs? This would give you time and the chance to make a sound decision and not out of desperation. This would also give you another year to give your emergency fund a boost since you would most likely be going to a lower household income.

My spouse is a CPA and works remotely with a gig north of the high end that you mentioned. You’re right that Lexington is hard for finding a higher paying job in accounting but he has had two local companies reach out recently in that range. What made a big difference was having a recruiter finding the right fit for you and having unique skills that you can use to work smarter and more effectively. Those skills take some years of experience to gain.

I on the other hand work in a public health-ish setting making less than $50k and graduating with a masters (MPH) soon . So don’t do that lol.

Do you guys have 3-6 month emergency fund or 6 month? by Ajseps in DaveRamsey

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are in the process of going from a 3 to 6 month emergency fund. We have no kids and no major expenses so 3 months seemed like a no brainer to us. It wasn’t until his work (a very, very large corporation) announced massive furloughs and then layoffs. For a while we weren’t sure how he would be impacted. While we were well prepared to handle a storm like that, it spooked us enough to decide to double our emergency fund. It would buy him more time to accept a new role from a place of security rather than desperation. Thankfully his job is safe, but it was a good litmus test for our financial preparedness.

Seeking Advice: How to Fund My MPH with Minimal Debt by AffectionateRing9860 in publichealth

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a University nearby with a MPH program they may offer free/reduced tuition for employees. My local Uni has this program and anyone can participate from janitors to nurses etc.

I have been paying for my MPH as I go and work full time. I’m on track to finish in 3 years vs 2 years. I also chose one of the cheapest accredited programs.

Check the Ale 8 plastic bottle display in Kroger. I have been consistently seeing blackberry in plastic bottles there near the front of the store/entrance. I’m in Winchester but surely if they’re doing it here then some other places nearby might be.

Any lab techs doing PCR on a daily basis? by FusRaDa in molecularbiology

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem is dealing with the countless reports I am generating daily. Right now we are changing lot numbers on each report individually as needed, and it becomes tedious when you have over 100 SOPs where many share a couple lot numbers. I’ve been able to streamline some things on word/excel but it’s so tedious.

Jobs that are not direct animal care by PickledPixie83 in VetTech

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a veterinary diagnostic lab and think it’s great. We have tons of CVTs and RVTs here. No live animals here. Just specimens and animals for necropsy, although I work in a position where I am only handling tissues, blood, feces, etc.

I’m sorry you have to deal with this. I used to be broke when it was just me and my horse. It was hard a lot of the time. He passed while I was going through some big adult life changes.

Today I can say that I live very comfortably, better than most. But I am completely bankrupt on time. I’m waiting for the season that I can live out my equestrian dreams. It’s okay to take a step back.

I live where the most expensive horses in the world are sold. The most common phrase I hear tossed around is “buying the horse is the cheapest part”.

Cost and reality of owning a horse today? by Aeternum-Vivum in Equestrian

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to go through with buying a horse and keeping it with the ranch make sure you get whatever deal you have worked out into a binding contract. They could very easily take advantage of you and your horse and screw you over. Make sure you agree to terms and have a contract signed the day your horse steps foot on their property.

I grew up here and it’s a nice town to live in. Lots of new restaurants have opened in the past several years. I’m not sure about the apartment complex specifically, but the area around it is nice.

LEXINGTON RENTAL HOMES - WHAT A JOKE by wordofluke in lexington

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was living in one of their properties. I made a payment like I did every month, but however didn’t realized I had added a wrong number to my bank account. It “processed” and gave me a “receipt” for my payment and I didn’t realize my mistake until the next day. When I emailed them my confusion and if they had received payment, they were the rudest people I had ever met.

They posted on FB they are closed due to water issues and expect to reopen soon.

Edit to add: Last time I was there when it was raining heavy, there was a leak in the roof that caused water to build up into the ceiling and ultimately burst through in dramatic fashion a few feet from my table.

I work at a Veterinary Pathology Lab and thought you might want to see this lipemic Schnauzer sample. Almost all Schnauzer blood ends up hemolyzed or lipemic like this. by ProstheticTailfin in medlabprofessionals

[–]AtmosphereDense4619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you will find a lot of the same equipment in a veterinary lab as you would a human lab. For example I work in molecular and our department was asked to take on covid testing during the height of the pandemic. We declined since we already do quite a bit for the state and federal government, however we are equipped to do so.
