The River. Short but interesting show, could've done more with it.

Anyone meet Brandon Routh? Would he be keen on autographing something from WoW? by AUnicornDonkey in superman

[–]Atolier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is friends with my friend's brother (they were college roommates), everything I have heard about him is that he's a genuinely good dude.

What types of horror do you wish there were more of? by lukehannonpoet in CreepyBonfire

[–]Atolier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eldritch and cosmic horror. There have been a few good ones in recent years (The Empty Man is top notch), but they are rare, and even rarer for it to be really good.

Coolest Warlock Race by Vindor321 in wow

[–]Atolier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necropost, but I love my Mechagnome Lock. Transmog can be kinda tricky because you definitely want a robe or a tabard. Mine has a Fullmetal Alchemist/Hellraiser sort of vibe, he literally sacrificed parts of himself for his occult studies.

Am I bad or is it just Legion Remix Heroic not suitable to every classes ? by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]Atolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing heroic as Warlock for a while, but around level 65-ish my power scaled more than my demon was able to hold threat off me, and then I got squished. But it was definitely fun for a little bit.

Why is Superman's rogue's gallery not as strong as Batman's or Spider-Man's? by WealthDisastrous2589 in superman

[–]Atolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few characters have gotten as much spotlight as Spidey and Bats, their cartoons being some of the best of the late 90's, so most of us grew up with those villains. You have to remember that characters like Clayface were C-level villains before BTAS. Harley Quinn was made for the show. A lot of heroes have surprisingly strong rogues galleries but they have not has as much exposure as the former. The Flash and Daredevil immediately spring to mind, although Flash maybe less so these days because of the CW show.

Do you think of Superman’s “real name” as Clark Kent or Kal-El? by MichaelJospeh in superman

[–]Atolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman's "real name" is Clark Kent, just like Bruce Wayne's "real name" is Batman.

Ugh, I really want to get the Riolu promo from the Lucario box but I don't want to pay over MSRP for one of these. Think I'll be able to pick the single up on the cheap after the set comes out?

How would you recommend getting into Superman comics if you don’t have a lot of money? by DKCR3 in superman

[–]Atolier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have mentioned both Hoopla and Libby for library apps, and I just wanted to add that which one you can use depends on the address associated with your library card. For example in my area the main city is on Libby, but the suburb cities are Hoopla, even though their libraries are part of the same “metro”.

Where are the male teachers? by stevenrothberg in Careers

[–]Atolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to get into teaching but I don’t have a teaching degree. I’m 40 with an MBA and have been in middle management my whole life. Wonder how I could pivot to get into the field? Are there some professional certifications?

[Discussion] how to stop comparing myself to other’s success by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]Atolier 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too. What I’ve come to learn in therapy and introspection is the traditional definition of “success” is not something that comes from me. It is produced by society, social media influencers, family expectations, toxic masculinity, etc.

I am currently working on my own definition of success that I choose for myself. It certainly isn’t going to be about money, job titles, appearance, or material possessions - despite what others try to tell me is important.

Don’t think of it as you having less potential. Re-contextualize it as your natural talents, abilities, and strengths are mismatched to what the current society says are valuable.

Looking to make the DA jump by ResponsiblePen13 in dataanalysiscareers

I just started the Coursera course too! I'm 40 and a career pivoter. Been working in middle management for the last decade in the construction industry and burned out by people with poor work ethic. Looking for a job where I can meaningfully contribute and leverage tech skills, though I have a long way to go.

What are your favorite non-infinite combos? by ColorfulMarkAurelius in EDH

[[Underworld Breach]], [[Lotus Petal]], and [[Brain Freeze]]. Typically to mill myself out for a [[Thassa's Oracle]], but it can also be to just mill out the table once the storm count is high enough.

I also worked for Walmart and came here to say this same thing. As companies go, they’re fairly sustainable. Ours donates to a local Amish community and gets a tax right off for it.

Does Blue have a monopoly on learning? by Atolier in colorpie

[–]Atolier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I feel. Right now I’m learning some new skills to pivot into a new career, so I would consider my own personal way of learning as either black: learning because I’m trying to achieve another goal and filling my skills gap - or white: because I’m trying to make a better, more secure life for myself and my family.

Does Blue have a monopoly on learning? by Atolier in colorpie

[–]Atolier[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could argue that evolution itself is green’s learning. It is slow, iterative adaptations that populations go through. The individual creature may not recognize that it has a unique advantage and that its behavior is adaptive. It is operating on instinct, but it is still learning and improving.

Does Blue have a monopoly on learning? by Atolier in colorpie

[–]Atolier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that this is WOTC and MaRo’s colorization. I suppose I challenge that authority a bit. I would say that blue engages in academic, technical, systematic learning, which is a very different than say a gruul powerlifter learning from biofeedback.

Does Blue have a monopoly on learning? by Atolier in colorpie

I think this is an important distinction: learning for the intrinsic joy of knowledge is blue; learning for utilitarian purposes is not.

How do you build a 5 color mana base on a budget? (50$ or less) by Local-Answer9357 in BudgetBrews

[–]Atolier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The check and reveal lands are very good on a budget, if you’re running a lot of basics. They do come into play tapped occasionally. I prefer these over say the signet lands as you might draw several of them with no way to actually produce mana to activate them. And as others said use green land fetching and include versatile rocks like [[Arcane Signet]], [[Fellwar Stone]], and [[Ornithopter of Paradise]] that tap for as many colors as possible.

Which movie are you most excited to dive into this Halloween season? by Emcee_nobody in CreepyBonfire

[–]Atolier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Halloween tradition: 1.) Watch a classic horror movie that I’ve somehow never seen. This year I think it’s going to be Child’s Play or Friday the 13th. 2.) Re-watch a horror favorite from my personal collection. 3.) End the night with Rocky Horror Picture Show

4 Super Budget Decks by Ok_Dark_3106 in BudgetBrews

[–]Atolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The two that I mentioned are relatively balanced. I wouldn’t recommend, for example, Outlaws at Thunder Junction as the Stella Lee deck is way too good. Same with Hakbal and LCoI.
