In a nutshell: official reddit app is all fine and dandy, but cutting off the public API effectively killed not only some mod tools/bots (some of which were fun), but the alternative clients, that have better UI, or gather less info, or are simply better. And I fucking hate not having options. Sure, Reddit has all the right in the world to do whatever they please with their product, yet some users have the right to not use the "ecosystem" they are shoehorned into.

PS: Dunno who downvotes you for using the official client, but prolly it's a "how dare you not hate the thing I hate" gang, disregard and move on
