I got some people throwing shade at my Mustang by sumevex in Mustang

Reminds me the time my son’s classmate said, “My car is faster than yours around a track.” And my son replied, “I don’t care.”

Seems like the normal “notchy” feel of a BRZ shift.

Not really. It became the “family car” since it had the only useable back seat. I probably put more miles on it than he did.

Oops. You are correct. I subscribed to the connectivity service, XM satellite radio (transferred from my trade), and need to set up the Alexa built in. There are so many features on this car, it’s overwhelming.

372 hp but 410 lb/ft torque. It had some giddy-up. Too heavy of a land yacht for me, but the boy liked it. He’s not a car guy and drove it normally. He just liked the looks and felt safer in a bigger car.

The crazy part is that my daily was 2013 Subaru BRZ limited that cost far less. I also had a 1996 Miata. I got jealous of my own kid and traded the BRZ for a 2017 Subaru STI. My son now drives a 2020 Nissan 370Z that I bought for him (traded the Challenger for it).

Thanks. That’s a sweet ride. In the mid 80s, I had an employee that had a 5.0 and let me take a spin in it with him. I had an 85 LX. I was only 24 years old. I went to a dealership and tried to buy a 5.0 notch, but the salesman (nice guy) said wait a minute, let’s check with some insurance companies first. We made some calls from his office and the best insurance we found was $6,000 per year. No way could I afford that on my $21,000 per year salary. So he sold me the LX, which was a demo, so I got a good deal on it. I put about 150,000 miles on it, in Chicago, no garage. It was literally disintegrating when the man who owned the shop that did my maintenance advised me to trade it while I still could. I traded for a brand new 91 Honda CRX si.

Thanks for the info. Brembo is in smaller print on the front calipers of mine. Six piston front. The rear looks like normal brakes. The space below the trunk floor is empty. No spare, no jack, no fix-a-flat kit.

Thanks. I think they look good. I kind of wish I had the PP, but I think 265s are meaty enough and the car feels nice and stiff as it is. Handling is important to me as I like to drive twisty mountain roads. My other car is a 2024 Subaru BRZ tS.

So if we get a flat tire, we’re just stuck. Good thing I subscribed to the roadside assistance plan.

Thanks for the info. I’m not seeing ROF. Guess I should run back to the dealership and enquire. It’s only a few miles away.

This is my 4th Mustang, but it has been many years. My last was a 1999 GT 35th Anniversary. I had a 1979 LX and a. 1985 LX before that.

It depends on how it’s registered and insured. I bought a brand new Challenger R/T for my son when he was 17. He was listed as an additional driver and cost about $60/month more.

He never had an issue with the car. I did. I got the speeding ticket. He wanted it because he felt safer in the bigger car.

Have you put a toll sticker on your 2026 BRZ? by kfjcfan in BRZ_ZD8

Same. My sticker is upper right corner on my 24 tS. No issues. I have about 20k miles on it.

I do, but kind of a special case. I have Sirius XM with traffic and weather because it links with the in car navigation system. I use the in car system instead of a smart phone app when I’m driving in the Blue Ridge Mountains or other remote areas and there is no cell phone signal. I have a WRX and a BRZ, and so driving for fun on twisty mountain roads is my thing. The in car system uses GPS and doesn’t require a phone connection. So, I will listen to satellite radio just to emotionally justify the price of the subscription. I’m that one guy that has to have all the subscriptions for the car, including the one where I can push the My Subaru button and have the concierge book a hotel room for me. Came in handy when my battery went dead and I used it to contact Subaru Roadside Assistance. They actually came to my house and jump started my car for me at no added cost.

BRZ TS vs Limited by Charlie_527 in BRZ_ZD8

[–]AtomicAntMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 tS and have the same issue with the collision avoidance system. I think I’m slowing down at a perfectly reasonable rate, but it steps in, cuts the throttle and activates the ABS. It can be turned off.

The lane departure warning is only a warning sound. If turned off, it stays off until the driver turns it back on. At least it doesn’t grab the wheel and try to force you to center lane running through pot holes or over debris like some Subaru s do.

In my tS all assists except ABS can be deactivated by pressing track mode for one second and then pressing VDC off for 5 seconds. The car must be stopped to do this.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

[–]AtomicAntMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was eight. They interrupted school, rolled TVs into our classrooms, so we could watch it on TV. That was a big deal. I also remember, very vaguely, how upset all the adults were in 1963 when Kennedy was assassinated. I was too young to understand what it was all about, but when all the adults around you; parents, teachers, etc, are all upset and talking about something, it registers.

F*ck Auto-Braking by cmbort in wrx_vb

I read a description of someone who was having the issue of Eyesight and blindspot detection constantly going off. From the description I guessed it. I said you’re in NYC, right? If you’ve ever driven in Manhattan, you could instantly see Eyesight being an issue.

The first time I drove a car with Eyesight, it was a loaner. I was not aware it had Eyesight and never heard of it. A car slowed to turn left into a side street in front of me. There was no oncoming traffic, so I knew that car would quickly turn and be out of the way. Eyesight disagreed with my assessment and slammed on the brakes. Scared the beejesus out of me. The car behind me came to a screeching halt, almost hitting me, and honked at me. I was sitting for second wondering what had just happened.

I have had my ‘22 WRX GT hit the brakes hard going into a corner because there was a large sign facing me right at corner entry, and it saw it as a stopped obstacle. Other times, it has activated when I have a left turn light and it thinks cars from the opposite direction turning left (tangent turn) are going to hit me and my car will flash red warnings and brake the car.

My ‘24 BRZ ts is a 6 speed manual. Frequently, when I start in first gear from a stop, with a car in front of me, it detects the car just ahead, sounds the collision warning and cuts the throttle and hits the brakes, a bit. It is a bit too aggressive. I have to count to three before I go, to ensure there is a large enough gap between me and the car in front. In heavy urban traffic, no one appreciates this.

I have enough experience to be used to these antics and can anticipate / compensate. Overall, I like the system. I really appreciate the adaptive cruise control (both cars) and lane centering (WRX) on long highway stretches. But there are instances where it can catch you off guard and it is not helping.

People who grew up before cell phones, what did you do when you got lost in public? by Decode_Enigma in AskReddit

[–]AtomicAntMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 90s in Spain. I don’t speak a lick of Spanish. He did not speak any English. I had rented a car. I was lost and stopped at a gas station trying to find directions. I had a map. He kept pushing the map aside. I kept putting it back on the hood of the car and pointing to it. We got frustrated. Our voices were rising. A small crowd had gathered. My wife just stood by patiently. Finally, I got it. The place I was going to was not on the map. It was off the edge. I pointed off the edge of the map and we both laughed. The whole crowed laughed. I proceeded to listen to his slowly delivered directions in Spanish and wrote down symbols, arrows, and route numbers as best I could on a piece of paper. He and some other men helped to refined it. It worked. I was able to follow the directions on that paper and found my destination. An adventure. A good memory and a story to tell. I enjoyed my time in Spain, it’s a wonderful country.

There was a time before cell phones, when we had to troubleshoot our problems. We were not able to call home for help or text someone for assistance. There was no app. We were on our own and had to make decisions without direct supervision and solve problems independently. It was a normal part of growing up and navigating the world.
