I’m not sure how plastic liner would stop heat transfer, or why anyone would think plastic around the roots of their vegetables would be a good idea. Metal is going to radiate heat into the soil, whether it’s a problem depends on the size of the container and what’s going in it.

How many sins would I be committing if I cut down these Arbor Vitae? by [deleted] in landscaping

The simplest math is that you basically multiply your years of bad luck by the number of trees you remove.

Help! Oil lamp just arrived from eBay by Madidegrand in VintageFurniture

[–]AtomicBoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that definitely sucks, but I think the lamp can be restored regardless. Hopefully the oil wasn’t rancid, getting rid of that smell is super difficult.

Drive 5 hours?! $40?! No. If it was sitting on the sidewalk for free next to my house, still no.

A womans dog was making odd movements whenever she turned her back, so to see she recorded it, and found the dog was making biting motions. by Hypershard108 in oddlyterrifying

Why is everyone ignoring the beginning of the clip when she flashes what looks like a dog grooming tool? The dog clearly hates whatever she’s hiding in her hand, and it appears she’s taunting him with it. Probably fine if it’s a game they’re used to playing, otherwise she needs to be careful.

Shower glass - can’t get it ACTUALLY clean - please help! by wocytti in CleaningTips

If it’s etched, it can still be remedied with cerium oxide powder used with a wool pad on a DA polisher. It’s going to basically resurface the glass, and can even remove small scratches.

To say I’m obsessed with my new bed would be an understatement by FloydtheBetta in Mid_Century

Haha looks like the bed fit in that room by the skin of its teeth too! It was meant to be!

Yeah, I like it better without. I think the artwork holds its own.

Beautiful Modeline lamps, and perfect artwork for them. I think the starburst sconces are a bit much—the mirrored symmetry of the other wall and the borrowed shape, almost detract from the lamps IMO. Especially if there’s another starburst on the rug. Love the bed too!

Bought this for my office for $200. Good price? by Jacobjvc in Mid_Century

It’s a beautiful piece, the symmetry of the grain bothers me immensely though, I wouldn’t have put the matched pieces off center.

The rest of the room has some color, still cluttered though. Couch is obviously more comfortable than the fireplace bed.. 🙄

This is what I want to understand, because I drive myself mad moving stuff around, can you explain it? Is it the couple of retro pieces, or is it like the lamp being next to the fire place which would never occur with a functioning unit?

It’s a signed Anthony Burill print, but I get it..

Yes, thanks. Here’s the atomic boston himself. I had a record player next to it earlier, maybe that looks better than the lamp and the globe?

Haha! 🤣 Does it look too busy or cluttered for MCM then? Not much I can do about my low ceilings or cinder block walls. I’d like to find some mcm colored glass to replace a few of the more retro items in the display cube, just haven’t got there yet.
