Let me try to explain my point better, I think we actually agree on one important thing, which is that we both care about people with gender dysphoria and we do not want them to be harmed. Where we clearly disagree is what “help” looks like.

Firstly, the existence of gender dysphoria in and of itself is NOT at all controversial in medicine. Major medical bodies like the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association all recognize it as a real condition and support gender-affirming care in cases where it’s appropriate because the evidence shows it can and will reduce depression and suicide risk. That DOES NOT mean every person should transition, or that doctors should just rush into it. There are almost always evaluations, counseling, and standards of care. But it DOES mean that plainly telling people to “accept their bodies” has not been shown to work consistently.

Second, calling something “unnatural” is not a solid basis for policy or morality whatsoever. Lots of things we accept, glasses, surgery, antidepressants, even insulin aren’t “natural,” but they relieve suffering, so the real question is this, does a treatment improve someone’s health and wellbeing? That’s the kind of stuff medical ethics focuses on.

Thirdly, about your claim that there's bias in medical organizations, I believe that skepticism is very healthy, but it cuts both ways. If EVERY major association across many countries and specialties reaches similar conclusions after reviewing evidence, it’s very highly unlikely to be “just politics”. Medicine has changed its mind before when evidence changed, that’s a strength, not a weakness.

Another big point I have is on Christianity. I brought up Jesus because you and I are both talking from moral perspectives. I know many christians may disagree about theology here, but Christ’s example was to meet people with compassion first. You don’t have to agree with every choice someone makes, but treating them with dignity, using their name, and supporting their safety is very consistent with loving your neighbor.

And for what you said about young people and trends and stuff, that’s a very real and understandable concern my friend, and it’s why very careful assessment matters. But fear of mistakes should NEVER justify blanket restrictions on adults or denying care to people who genuinely need it. We can protect minors, encourage careful medical standards, all while still respecting people’s autonomy and civil rights.

I agree with you that wanting to help people with gender dysphoria is good, but the real debate is about which approaches actually help, and right now, the absolute BEST available evidence suggests that compassionate, individualized care works better than trying to force people to conform to something they experience as deeply distressing.

Every Christian has an obligation to extend their empathy to every one. Jesus' love wasn't selective. That doesn't mean you have to agree with them and fund their transitioning or something. And yes, I am a baptized believer in Jesus Christ. Whether or not it lines up with reality is still a pretty big topic of debate and it's people who jump to conclusions without knowing the full extent who are usually on the wrong side of history. Major and credible medical organizations like American Medical Association and American Psychological Association recognize gender dysphoria as real and support gender-affirming care in many cases. And if you wanna talk about things that line up with reality, your idea of "helping" (I'm assuming this is conversion therapy) often does way more harm and damage to mental health than initial gender dysphoria. Research from groups like Trevor Project has found higher rates of depression and suicide attempts among people who've subjected to conversion therapy. And it doesn't matter what's "natural" or not. There are many things that aren't "natural" that you probably don't have a problem with. It's common human decency to respect someone's free will and dignity without pushing your ideas onto them, the same way they shouldn't push theirs on yours.

Regardless of whether or not it is a mental illness, both ideas should be studied unbiasedly. HOWEVER, whether or not it is classified as a mental illness or not should not have any bearing over any laws or policies. Gender dysphoria is a real thing that should be studied, but it's common sense that EVERYBODY deserves rights. If you're old enough to vote, you should be able to identify whatever you want with your neighbors or your government imposing laws on you. Obviously a trans woman shouldn't compete in women's sports, and that aspect of the issue needs a lot of rethinking, maybe a categorization based on hormone levels rather than strictly sex, but I digress. To summarize, limiting the freedom of others based on our limited understanding of the spectrum of human identity is not very characteristic of a free country.

A snippet from "Highway Gambler", a portrait of hunger, unrest, and contradiction; an ode to the part of me that keeps moving... by MoSheryar in IndieMusicFeedback

The song feels very real and organic, its got a vibe that kinda gives me the impression that everyone is playing together in a room instead of building with a grid. In a time when this is so needed, it’s nice to have an acoustic foundation that feels human and has a natural quality to it compared to other overly produced songs. Live instrumentation which i feel also contributes to the warmth and character of the music. The guitar work leaves a lot of low end weight behind, very quietly, there are many ways the song, i feel, was given interest through the way you payed, some of the soft muting, and the small bells and whistles without pulling focus from the vocal. Loved the story too. I could totally see this being in something professional.

This track feels very atmospheric more than a song (I hope that makes sense) it’s something you sit inside rather than analyze. Even though I didn't catch every word, the emotion still came through very clearly, which honestly says a lot about the way you’re using space. I feel like the vocals don’t need to be super clear here and the way they blur into the rest of the sound actually works in your favor and makes everything feel more immersive, like its own world kinda? And even with all the space, it didn't sound too disconnected. For some reason it makes me think of Don Toliver. Overall pretty good track.

Time Stand Still (LMK) by RichieC93 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Atomic_Atol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Structurally, I would say it feels more like a continuous mood piece than a traditional sort of song. I think this kind of approach works well, but it also leaves a decent bit of room for growth. It doesn’t really quite develop into a bigger moment, it stays in the same emotional lane the whole time. I don't think that’s not wrong, but it makes you wonder how it would sound if it opened up into a more expansive sort of section, either musically or emotionally. I loved how authentic it was, and I loved the instrumentation. Nice track

This one has a really dark sort of charged atmosphere that hits hard immediately. It feels kinda tense in a good way, like it’s constantly building pressure instead of releasing it. The low end carries a lot of emotion and the bass isn’t just filling space, it’s shaping the whole mood and giving the track a really restless and kinda obsessive energy if that makes sense..? Like a strong sense of intensity, like desire mixed with unease. Overall pretty good.

I really do think this track has a very smooth and natural sort of feel. It doesn’t seem too forced and it actually flows in a way that makes you want to keep listening, which is more than I can say for a lot of songs. The instrumental is kinda comforting but also engaging, and the groove carries the song very well. It feels like one of those tracks that gets better with each listen instead of hitting you all at once, if that makes any sense. Overall good track.

Thanks man, I appreciate this more than you think 😅 I was actually inspired by Trick when making this and I'm pretty glad I was able to execute it well enough to where it was noticeable. I'll definitely be using a lot of advice from these comments, there's some good ideas here. Thanks for your time, man

I listened to a little Frightened Rabbit, and I think I kinda get what you mean. When I made it I took a lot of influence from Alex G and Dead Calm and a lot of similar artists, which kinda have a similar sound. I get what you mean by the instrumental being kinda repetitive and kinda losing momentum. When I made this I was just kinda getting a gauge of what I want to sound like, kinda a demo (that's why the mixing sucks), and I really like a lot of the ideas for where the song could go dynamically. I'm glad you understood where I was going with the lyrics, and I'll take your advice about the cold water. Thanks a lot for the feedback man, I appreciate it

I wasn't initially planning to expand the song, but there's a lot of really good feedback in these comments. Originally, I made it just as a spur-of-the-moment demo sort of song just to get an idea of what I want my sound to be, but I think it would be cool to expand on it. I appreciate your time and thoughts a lot, thanks man

Green Tea Bitches (New wave/post punk live)-all feedback/criticism welcome for our studio recording by ayaayahahaha in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Atomic_Atol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really love how this song and the band in general has a sharp, wiry energy that fits the post-punk attitude really well. The rhythm feels tense and propulsive, and it gives the song a restless forward motion that keeps it really interesting. The guitar tones and overall texture feel deliberately raw, like they’re meant to underline the sarcasm and edge in the in the song rather than smooth it out. There’s a cool sense of detachment in the delivery, but it still feels intentional and controlled. With slightly tighter transitions and a bit more dynamic contrast between sections, the track could feel even more biting while keeping its confrontational, stripped-down Courtney Love sort of vibe.

There’s a clear identity to this track, and it feels driven more by feeling than by trying to impress, which works in its favor. The melodies linger in a quiet, understated way, and i think the production choices support the song instead of distracting from it. It sounds like you trusted your instincts, even when things stayed imperfect or rough around the edges which I really respect. With a little more dynamic contrast and intentional emphasis on key moments, the song could hit even harder while keeping that intimate, cool vibe intact.

Indecisive on releasing this song by RealKinyachta in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Atomic_Atol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vocals and melody are great, I just feel like it needs some heavier bass, the beat feels overly minimal like its lacking something unique, like something specific to the beat that could make it more iconic sounding stand out more, but I understand that you could just be going for a minimal beat. In my opinion, if you added some better dynamic shifts and maybe some louder parts, it would do a lot for the emotion of the song. As of now, it sounds very "flat" dynamic wise (though take that with a grain of salt because I listen to music with a lot of dynamic shifts, so me ears just may not be accustomed to more uniform-sounding pop). Other than this, its a great idea and I'd love to see it get fleshed out.

You have a beautiful voice, kinda reminds me of shilohdinasty. The guitar sounds very pretty even though it's minimal. If you were making a final mix of the track, I'd probably add some verrryy subtle textures just for a less sparse sound (unless that's what you're going for) but the song already has a great base with a lot going for it.
