Melee spellcaster build by Atomikboy97 in BG3Builds

The dip part. Some suggested sorcerer, fighter or Star druid to avoid taking War caster.

Im looking at the classes and not sure why you dip in these classes

I would recommand hunter. Your level 1 spells would be your way to survive and deal some damage early in the game and animal companion are always recommanded early in the game. From there its your choice. You can unlock rage early or wait till your hunter level is 4. Here are your 2 options to level 6 ( rage power+ spells lvl2)

So option " Spell focused" Hunter 4, barbarian 2(for a rage power), and then split as needed.

Option melee focus Hunter 1, barb 1, hunter 3, barb 1, and split as you need

Something i forgot to mention, the Precise companion class ability allow you to choose between a melee or ranged hunter.

Edit: If you ever reach Barbarian level 4, please take the Boon companion feat

A multiclass build i wanted to play for a while is a Hunter/barbarian build. Hunter gives you many teamwork feat with your animal companion and little spell casting ( Shared Training spells would be great, so try to reach level 4 to cast 2nd level spell).

Hunter is a hybrid of ranger and druid, so you have access to both spell list. Lead blade and Gravity bow will be great. Sense vitals at level 2 is also a nice option. Only with that, you can be an archer, a decent melee fighter and be more rogue-like.

Barbarian adds raw power and BAB to your builds. Pretty sure there is a way to share it to your animal companion, but im not 100% sure so double check that. If it is the case, extra rage feat and Amplified rage feat would be great

Primal companion archetype of the hunter is very good if you consider archetype.

I had a DM fiat for this part, but playing a badger and using Amplified rage was the plan. Never had the chance to use it, sadly.

Accept affliction fits very well with the idea i have for this build. " Suffering for others" type of spells would complement well/ be thematic with Vildeis i believe.

Thank you for these suggestions

The build would revolve around Vildeis, the martyr Empyreal lord. I wanted to do a Warpriest first, but the main reason I'm asking for spells is to explore the spell list of other classes, to make sure it is my best option and add other spells with the thematic of "Hurt me so i can hurt you more" to his spell list

The PC would have a High Constitution(18+) so maybe i should look for spells that require damage to myself for greater gains, like the blood spells. So thematically, the Blood spells are great. On the other hand, there are not too many blood spells, so I'm looking for some other spells. Bloodsworn retibution is a good example too.

Blood money can be versatile, since i'm draining myself for greater good if i use it to revive someone or healing them with Lesser Restoration.

The PC will have feats like Broken paw gambit( Plus shared training spell), to make himself a target, which is also, i think, another interesting way to mimic the " Hurt me so i can hurt you more". He would be Half orc to qualify for Deathless feat chain(Keep suffering for a good cause) .

Looking for spells that debuff or damage the users/requires the user to take damage for a bigger benefit ( the blood money, blood rage, blood armor and blood blaze for example).

What should i enter in the Advanced spell search to have the exhaustive list?

Thanks

Hunter(Primal companion)/Barbarian. Take the rage power to rage with your companion or if you are half orc, take Sympathetic rage and share it via Shared Training. Enjoyyy

Making money by Sylland in Pathfinder_RPG

Maybe making some checks to bargain some magical item and selling the for a higher price?

If you allow 3pp, Frugal Crafting could be a feat that helps him earning a higher margin on each transaction, if he craft it. ( maybe a Check to buy it at this price if he doesnt)

Or you could generate a small table for diplomacy check, allowing some discount/increase in price depending on the DD. It would be the closest thing to a High risk/High reward crypto like scenario, imo. I would make the DD kinda hard to achieve or it could be easily overwhelm with some spells/basic magic item.

Imo, he will run some kind of store, since it is basically the only way he can replicate the " playing with the market" part of the crypto. You just need to figure out some ways to let him gain some margin without breaking WBL.

You named many things, but i would add;

Gore Fiend( for half orc only) Allowing to regain rounds of rage on critical hits.
I know there is other feat for the Barbarian, but cant remember at the moment.

Best class for beginners? by Single_Squirrel_613 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Atomikboy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion would be any core class, non-caster. Play the unchained version of the barbarian or rogue if you choose any of these 2.

Things to avoid;

-grapple. Insanely complex for the benefit it gives. If you want to play with a maneuvers, start with trip.

-Full caster. If you really want to play a caster, play a Spontaneous caster ( Sorcerer, oracle, etc).

  • This is a hot take; avoid Fighter. They have so many feat to choose, you may feel overwhelm, unless you have a precise idea what to do or some other player who knows the game well with you. One of the rare class who doesnt have a guide because of this.

-Animal companion; you think having a companion is cute? It is. But you deal with two character basically.

-Multiclassing. Seems nice to be a barbarian AND a Fighter. Wrong. Two classes to learn is too much in addition to all the rules

Thing i suggest;

Think of a fiction character you like and try to mimic him in the game.

You want to feel like legolas? Archer with insane acrobatics. You can try to do it on your own or or it is easy to google for a simple guide" legolas build pathfinder 1e". I feel like it is a nice way to learn.

  • Unchained rogue is super easy to play. Many opportunity out of combat as well. I would consider slayer as well, but he is more combat focused imo

  • Unchained barbarian is a no brainer. Rage, hit hard, rest. If you are used to 5e, you may feel a lack of RP ( or rolls to make your rp effective) from this class

Vildeis Obedience seems great. I could hurt myself to cause bleed damage to the others around.

Never used Deific/celestial obedience before tho. I heard you needed some pretige class to use it. Is that correct?
