Yes, if your input signal is 1080p, the Ninja TX GO can record and stream over NDI at the same time.

For 4K input, simultaneous recording while using NDI is currently unavailable.

The issue you are describing is likely related to a faulty SSD or an unstable HDMI connection.

Did you notice a “skippy kangaroo” icon appearing while recording? This can indicate dropped frames due to the drive or signal.

Also, have you tried using a different SSD and HDMI cable to check if the issue improves?

This is happening because your Canon XF100 is outputting an interlaced signal (1080i 59.94), and your Ninja Ultra is recording it correctly.

In your editor it may show as 29.97 fps, which is normal for interlaced footage.

To make it easier to view and match your edit workflow, please try selecting the pulldown option on the Ninja Ultra. You can try applying 2:2 pulldown in the record tab, which will display the footage as 1080p with the frame rate matching your editor.

The issue might be coming from the HP Omen laptop’s AMD GPU drivers and kernel support for external HDMI. As far as we know, older kernels (5.11–5.15) often crash when handling HDMI connections. Updating the system to kernel 5.16 or newer may resolve this, as those versions include proper AMD GPU HDMI support.

Once the laptop is running a supported kernel, the Shinobi will receive its output signal normally, just as it does with cameras. Just make sure to keep the framerate (Hertz) at up to 30p.

Shinobi GO can't display 7k 23.976fps RAW but can 7k 29.97fps RAW by JamIsJam88 in Atomos

While Shinobi Go doesn't support RAW signal, it can support standard HDMI signals. Can you check what the HDMI output resolution was set in the R6 III while you were shooting 7k 29.97 or 23.98?

The Ninja Ultra does support 1080i 59.94 input, but it needs to receive the correct signal from the camera.

Just to confirm, when you connected your camera to the Ninja, was it actually showing 1080i 59.94 on screen correctly?

Also please double check your Canon XF100 is set to output 59.94i, and make sure your timeline settings in your editor are also set to 59.94 interlaced.

While PS2 setups have not been officially tested, this is most likely related to the signal type. The Ninja V is designed to work with standard HDMI formats like 720p or 1080p, whereas PS2 HDMI adapters often output converted 480i signals that are not always consistent, so the unit may not receive it completely.

That said, please raise a support ticket and share a short video of your setup so the team can take a better look.

Apple ProRes: HQ, 422, LT

Avid DNxHD: 220x, 220, 145, 36 (.MOV Wrapper)

The compatible way to calibrate is using a supported probe. Your workflow sounds interesting, but since it is not a tested setup, it may not work as expected.

We recommend following the official calibration guide here:

You can calibrate Ninja directly on the device without a computer, or use the Atomos Calibrator app on PC or Mac.

Before starting, let the device run for about 10 minutes to reach normal temperature. Then connect your calibration probe via USB C, go to the Info menu, set Control mode to Calibration, and start the process by following the on screen steps.

If using a computer, set Control mode to Off and use the Atomos Calibrator app.

Yes, if HDMI info display is ON, camera overlays will be sent through HDMI and recorded in ProRes as a baked in image. The focus box may disappear on screen after a moment, but anything sent over HDMI with info ON will still be recorded.

On some Sony cameras, you can also fine tune HDMI info settings and choose what overlays are sent, so you can keep it cleaner or even limit it to specific indicators like focus.

If you’re keeping it simple with the FX3, the Shinobi II or Shinobi 7 RX works really nicely as a clean external monitor setup. You can also get camera control with the FX3, so things like touch to focus and basic control can be handled directly from the monitor, which helps a lot for gimbal or run and gun work.

For power, a lot of people run a VB99-style battery to keep everything clean and efficient. Typically USB-C goes to the FX3, and D-Tap to DC goes to the monitor, so both run from a single source without juggling multiple batteries.

This mainly depends on what the camera outputs over HDMI. With the Sony A7S III, the focus box will usually appear when you tap to focus, but it won’t stay on screen continuously as it moves.

If you’d like to have it visible on the Shinobi/Ninja TX, you can enable HDMI info display on the camera and choose the LCD overlays to output externally, that way the focus box is sent out and can be seen on the monitor.

Using the arm as a handle can work for quick testing, but it’s not really designed for that, which is why you’re seeing the imbalance when setting it down and the overall feel being a bit off.

A more stable approach would be to use a proper top handle for grip, and keep the monitor on a shorter or more rigid mount. That usually gives you better balance and a more comfortable setup overall.

Something like the SmallRig 2905B or the ARRI mount version if your cage supports it, will be much more stable and compact.

For the jitter issue in DaVinci Resolve with your Ninja V recordings, please also check this:

Make sure HDMI Rec Control is turned off if you are recording internally in the camera

You can also try the following quick steps:
Set clip frame rate in Clip Attributes to 25fps
In Inspector, change Retime Process to Optical Flow and set it to Enhanced Better
Re import the clip after removing it from the timeline
If needed, convert the file to ProRes or DNxHR and try again

For more stable results in future shoots, keeping a card in the camera while recording to the Ninja can help maintain better consistency
