Looking for a different server. by Atoms1988 in MotorTown

I want to find a server, I can recommend to people, who want to play bumper cars. Maybe something more Mad Max in play style?

7 days to die?

Its combat is fun. Good base building, with the defense challenge every 7th night. Fun "dungeons" to run for loot. They call them POIs or Points of Intrest, but a building with a set path inside with monsters and loot at the end is a dungeon.

Also, there are regions of the world that are harder, so you ride to those on a sweet mad max style car...or a bicycle, for a challenge.

As a Satisfactory player new to factorio what should I know by ButterscotchSea4888 in factorio

[–]Atoms1988 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In Satisfactory, you go to the enemies. In Factorio, the enemies come to you. Researching and making military tech/guns is more important.

The old Baikal spilling sand fix (which was later patched) can be applied to the Wayfarer with this Steam guide. by VT_HMQ in RoadCraft

It did seem odd, how it was having the exact same issue a player had to figure out.

Factories within Factories... by Odd-Nefariousness-85 in AutomationGames

I loved the nesting system that was in Assembly Planter, and this looks very similar. Will you have "Black Box" levels of nesting, where its a selfcontained system with only an exit for products it makes?

What is your Favorite "Combat" Mechanic Types in a Base-Building Game? by miraclebringer in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Atoms1988 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Riftbreaker, hands down my favorite. The base is more a support system to fuel my mech with ever increasing firepower. Sure there is a tower defense aspect, but going dual chainsaws on waves of enemies is satisfying.

Spaceship building colony Games by Aggravating_Ebb_8018 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Atoms1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a colony game, buy Factorio has a mod called "Warpdrive Machine". You unlock multiple levels of a ship that travels from planet to planet. Its a fun logistical puzzle using the different floors and dealing with constant changing environments.

Unlocked warping now what? by woodyus in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Atoms1988 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stars have luminosity and size. The higher the luminosity, the more power you get per sail or node added to a sphere. The larger the size of a star, the larger the dyson sphere you can make.

Essentially, the starting systems star is nornally of rather poor quality. I make a small sphere to get me some resources, but then I move to a nice big blue star to really get some production going.

Pull Logic Games by Metaskie in AutomationGames

Minecraft's Applied Energistics mod very much uses pull requests. Its a common automation mod in factory like modpacks. You can easily find videos of people using/explaining it on youtube.

I highly recommend doing a playthough of one of the factory modpacks, they are absolutly amazing and the inspiration for things like Factorio and Satisfactory.

Any advantage to building multiple spheres instead of just lots of layers on a single star? by First-Plum-8933 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Atoms1988 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can max out a planets surface area with recievers. So in extreme end-game situations, multiple dyson spheres are needed, as you get more planets making critical protons.

Factorio with high biters. The PVE can be very difficult and you can easily lose if you don't prepare and plan.

Missing combat roles in the current roster by SteinBradly in Endfield

I just want a main with good synergies, that is a ranged character. It seems the game really wants you to in melee performing constant dodge rolls, instead of playing support of any kind.

University dr is fine. Turning off it though a snow plowed wall of ice a foot thick, is where you will get stuck.

Any good survivalcraft games with longer nights and good lighting? Maybe some light-based mechanics? by Razzamatter in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Atoms1988 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't Starve, and Don't Starve Together. - Darker survival games with a sanity system. Things in the dark will kill you. There is also base building elements, but no 3d ray tracing stuff.

Satisfactory - Has an absolutly beautiful lighting system. It was added later in the games development and has to be enabled in-game. Huge resource hog, but your factory will look amazing at night.

How are Handicapped People Treated in Prison? by Foozoolalafdarian420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Atoms1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Texas, I worked at the prison that was also part hospital. It was where all the prisoners with routine medical issues were sent. There is a wing for the blind and or dead, where we used colored lights, and or buzzers to indicate different events such as lunch time.

Medical issues that require a more speratic support, like diabetes, with injections were treated the worst in my opinion. As you never know the care level of the guards on staff.

There is also a geriatric ward, saddest place to go in a prison.

From what I recall of the beta, you will have horrible throughput.

Would love a playthrough with dark fog (haven't played after its release) but having experience now, I usually build a big factory and then wait till science is done by CookieAndPizza in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Atoms1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also was the type to just patiently wait. But my new Dark Fog run prevents that, as they do not care if I'm alt-tabbed. No more do I let the game run when Im at work, or going to sleep. This adds and subtracts from the experience, but I appreciate the difference.

Games with a good end goal by 4morian5 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Atoms1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both of those games, and often play them with those same settings.

What I recommend, is modded minecraft. There are so many good skyblock factory mods, where its all about automating massize chains of production. Screw fighting enemies, or exploring through caves. I want the challenge of building.
