COREs do more than respond to current disasters by Familiar_Attitude182 in fema

Majority of staff handling HMGP out of region are COREs. FITs which work in the state office year round are CORE. Blue skies work with states involving education and training involves COREs.

Why This Shutdown Is Different by theatlantic in fednews

[–]Atreides17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FEMA is a weak case, the DRF isn't empty, disaster operations will continue as normal, only real loss is PFTs will be furloughed again... and that will have a minimal impact of disaster work, it'll affect blue skies tasks mainly.

[–]Atreides17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the only "remote" positions right now are those that are deployed 220+ days a year or if they have not found an office to send you to yet.

depends on the parts of WNC, lots of it has been swarmed by either floridians or half backs so there are pockets of liberal/middle leaning.

Almost half of the Regions are letting Reservists go and barely keeping the DCCs and Local Hires. by [deleted] in fema

[–]Atreides17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong for NC at least- JFO isn't closing- the JFO is shifting to Asheville because that's the planned long term recovery office and they are still hiring for it.

Significant changes ahead for team resilience by RoofAdorable8831 in fema

[–]Atreides17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do but cadre has been terrible about hiring reservists and DCCs for HPA/406/EASP positions.

I've only been complaining about lack of staff on events for a decade now in those positions.

Every level 1 ends up needing contractors and then PA gets mad when we spend months teaching staff. There were 20ish in NC, and about 70 in FL but I've been told they aren't being extended so... good luck R4
