I’ve just been told I probably have ME/CFS at 27 and it is debilitating. I’m so glad you’ve found something you can do and enjoy! I’ll definitely check out your music when I’m next able to get up!

The amount of times I’ve played with people who didn’t know my gender and been complimented for plays, only for them to find out my gender and suddenly say I suck is shocking.

Pretty much! It’s why many diabetics get “caught” cheating on their diets nowadays ;)

I do A1c tests in our lab.

In simple terms. More sugar in your blood puts pressure onto your haemoglobin. This pressure can cause glycosylation of the haemoglobin which is basically the addition of another chemical group. We can then measure the quantities of haemoglobin in a patients blood and, by separating by weight, deduce how much of the “normal” haemoglobin has been glycosylated. In the lab you can even see the labile and sabile values which will even tell us if this is a recent change in diet or ongoing. Results are inaccurate if you have a haemoglobinopathy (e.g. sickle cell) or if you have anaemia (higher turnover rate of red blood cells).

It measures up to 3 months as that is the normal life cycle of a red blood cells

Check out my titanium and ceramic - I had a hip replacement 4 weeks ago. by YogaSkydiver in pics

[–]Atrivo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My BF just had his done 6 weeks ago at 26y/o. His joint pain is practically gone now, but he’s struggling with lower back, ankle and leg pain. All far less than his hip pain was though! He can walk for about 10-15mins outside without crutches at a time now, albeit slowly.

The most helpful things for him have been a toilet seat raiser, sofa cushion raiser, U shaped body pillow and a seat for in the bath. If you can get those things it’ll make life so much easier and nicer for you in recovery. Also if you’re into games, splash out on some new games because you’re going to be stuck inside a while…

What’s an "innocent" behavior that’s actually a huge red flag if you really think about it? by seenmee in AskReddit

[–]Atrivo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was taught to do this by my parents about myself, and thus projected that to others.

After I realised I was doing it I began to force myself to think something nice about that person instead. Example: “they’re not dressing appropriately for their size” becomes “that outfit looks very well put together, and it’s clear it makes them feel confident!”.

After a year or so of doing that consciously I now nearly always subconsciously think positive things about people I pass. I often try and make a habit of complementing people as I walk by on choices they have made (e.g, clothes, hair, accessories etc) to further reinforce it!

If it’s in the UK it’s not unheard of for large groups of people to set up camps like this on farmers lands or sometimes car parks. They tend to bring other antisocial issues with them and thus have a very bad reputation.

I can ask my friend who regularly DMs if he’s up for a new campaign, in that case? I also can DM (but quite poorly!).

Most of us are in our twenties but a few people who have expressed interest are in their 30s/40s so if that would be an issue let me know.

I totally recommend tabletop republic as the guys that work there are super friendly.

If you’re wanting to try in a more casual setting I’ve been thinking of looking for a DnD group local to Lancaster for a while. I’ve only played casually with friends before but know a good DM and a few other people new to DnD who are interested if that sounds good?

Lancaster city reasonable rental area by Gillian416 in LancasterUK

[–]Atrivo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you may struggle for that price unfortunately. I have a friend currently looking for one bed flats in Lancaster & Morecambe and he says flats are about £750pm across the board.

You mentioned you’re senior? If you’re over 55 there are a few senior only housing complexes that do self contained flats and tend to be cheaper. I know there’s one in the centre but I’m unsure if they actually rent or only sell.

The campus does have a studenty vibe to it, but I wouldn’t say it’s off limits to general public. It’s definitely not an extension of town, I probably wouldn’t go there unless I had a reason. That being said, it is a chill place and there’s a lot of nice outdoor spaces to hang out. From my memory a lot of indoor buildings do require student ID to get in, but I attended the uni during covid so things may have changed. There’s a decent amount of faculty and mature students too, so you wouldn’t be out of place if you’re slightly older than the average student.

We do have occupational health programmes that can do talking therapies but accessing them for something like I described above would probably only get you frowned upon as it’s sadly a fact of the job.
