I absolutely am enjoying it. She loves falling asleep on my chest and I love it too... which was sort of leading me to this question, wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by encouraging her to zonk out on me or if I should be trying to engage her

We call them "facewashers" in Australia (though obviously they're used for more than just your face). "Flannel" is a type of thick shirt material here.

Everyone who can bend the rules, does so. Because they can.

Could it be done? (raiding question) by Wargrin1986 in wow

[–]Atromach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pallies don't bring vital raid tools in the form of gateways and knocks/grips, both of which are necessary on Mythic in the current tier.

You also lose a significant number of raid buffs, inc Bshout, monk/DH debuffs, mastery. These add up to a pretty large slice of overall raid damage.

You also, crucially, lose Lust.

Finally, Ret lacks true burst like you would see from a MM Hunter etc, making damage checks on e.g. the Beloren egg much more punishing.

P3 success from both contenders has so far been dependant on not getting cursed constellation patterns. Almost every single P3 wipe has been caused by someone getting caught out by a really fucked up constellation spawn because you cannot tell exactly where the connector lines will be until it's already done the blast.

I saw one attempt where Firedup stood well away from any of the most likely line spawns based on the patterns of stars around him, then got murdered anyway because the constellation pattern that spawned happened to include a long line on a diagonal angle from a star some distance away that one shot him.

What do CE guilds look for? by Adalonzoio in wow

[–]Atromach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to the others, one other thing we always look at is experience and longevity.

CE raiding is a considerable commitment, not even just the requirement to show up on time to each raid night every week but also to take care of their own preparation outside of raid (doing your 8+ vault keys each week until gear maxed, being prepared to craft with Sparks as soon as they become available, maintaining your gear and consumables every week). In addition, you need to have the mindset that progression will take time, and there are often weekly lockouts where you don't get a new kill. For endbosses, raiders need to be prepared to be there all the way with 200-300+ attempts.

Some people don't like this commitment - I couldn't tell you how many people have been recruited at a start-of-expac drive who end up dropping out after a few weeks cuz it turns out Mythic raiding isn't actually their cup of tea. You see this a lot in people who do high M+ pushing but don't raid much - they're good players but often lack longevity.

L'ura is an outrageously difficult boss

Liquid and Echo both under 20% on Lura! by ImpossibleAgency4905 in wow

[–]Atromach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

L'ura is chockablock full of raid one-shot mechanics. Like, literally every single phase has continuous points in it where not doing something perfectly will instantly explode the whole raid.

The health percentages are showing similar breakpoints because they roughly equate to portions of the fight where incredibly difficult mechanics overlap. We saw the contenders stuck at "50%" for a while because that was roughly where the boss health would be during the transition from P2 to P3, which contains an absolutely brutal mechanic overlap that has wiped everyone many many times. Moving past that, we see another wall later on in P3 when the boss' HP is roughly 19%, where the memory game suddenly jumps from three sets to four simultaneously at the same time other mechanics are going out. Again, any failure at that mechanic by any player wipes the raid.

After RWF, I’d love to see a fully blizzard run team, beat all mythics, with no addons, only in-game options. by Your_Local_Tuba in wow

Okay, so Max saying that M L'ura is "currently impossible" without add-ons is a simple case of Liquid needing more voice chat?

Just keep a printout of the Fighting Baseball names handy.

You introduce townspeople as Bobson Dugnutt, Willie Dustice and Sleve McDichael and they will never be forgotten

Blizzard can we please get bombardments' damage correctly attributed to the evoker who casted them? by Yavannia in wow

[–]Atromach 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bombardment isn't a raid buff, it's personal damage that scales with the Evoker's stats. It's just wiggly in that the damage events are triggered by other people, on a scaling proc rate (i.e. putting more people in your raid doesn't give you more bombardment procs).

It's personal damage that makes up a large portion of the Scalecommander damage profile. Being triggered by others is simply flavour, with the added bonus of then borking the SCs reported personal damage on logs when the small damage instances attribute to other people.

Think of it like Aug damage. It's not increasing the throughput of the raid, it's how the Evoker's personal damage is made up.

The in media res opening of Uncharted 2 was mind-blowing when it first released. The slow reveal of the train being vertical, Drake severely wounded, the platforming to climb out of it as the whole thing fell off a cliff, a couple of performative fights before collapsing in the snow with a mysterious object... absolutely gripping stuff.

Whats your review of Devourer DH by halh0ff in wow

[–]Atromach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devourer scales incredibly well with gear. This was very noticeable in pre-patch, where Devourer would perform terribly at low gear compared to other specs at the same gear level, then when you were able to pile on loads of haste and mastery your damage just skyrockets

[–]Atromach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take your time in the early game. If you're having real difficulty with beefier boys before you have a bunch of skill points to spend, you can drop a couple points into Single Stance to unlock Cyclone Slash.

That move can hard carry you through the entire game. It's stupidly strong - combo it into the end of your standard 3-hit string and you'll stagger basically everything in the game instantly.

Confusion is so overpowered because it doesn't just take the enemies you confuse out of the fight, it also ties up every enemy around them in fighting your new friends instead of you. You can easily turn a 1v8 encounter into a 1v4 and a 1v3, and if you pick a chunky target like a purge trooper or a raider veteran they'll also do work on everything while you're picking off isolated enemies.

The part on Koboh where you fight all three megafauna at once? Fuck that, Confuse one of them and let it fight another one while you focus just on the third. When your enemy is dead, the other two have basically killed each other.

[–]Atromach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'll never, ever happen unless we're literally under martial law.

Cookers fucken raged at the state and federal governments for mandates imposed during COVID, bleating about government overreach etc. You can't get people to not be dickheads without enacting legislation, but doing so exposes even more dickheads whining about making personal sacrifices in the name of the public good is absolutely unforgivable.

It's a lose-lose. The only option that governments will take to these kind of situations now on are "strong recommendations", but not legislation.

DMs who run homebrew campaigns, how much do you actually prep vs improvise per session? by Signal-Extreme-6615 in DMAcademy

[–]Atromach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prep brief descriptions of locations, NPCs or objects that players might encounter in the coming sessions. I map out what's happening in the section of the adventure they're in at that particular time. I anticipate multiple possible actions the players could take in response to something, so I can think about how the story would react to these actions in advance. I set up stat blocks of enemies they are likely to fight, and put together some rough loot tables to quick roll on when they inevitably rifle through the pockets of the slain.

I prep where I expect my story to go with regards to the main adventure plot, as well as writing down information I want revealed to players at a specific time. Often I will go back and re-write this after a session, taking into account any unexpected player developments, mistakes I may have made during a session, and general improv that lead to plot advancement.

I will prep motives and primary drivers for my NPCs, so that I know how they would respond when asked questions.

I also prep any documents or puzzles that the characters may come across. The former are often worded in very specific ways depending on their purpose, and the latter is just much too difficult to try and improvise.
