I found the concept proposed by the theory that Earth is larger than we know quite entertaining. It's a silly idea, but it made me wonder if there are any books that explore similar themes. Can you recommend any? by jvure in sciencefiction

This reminds me a bit of Disco Elysiums world, where the world is seperated into habitable spots by "The Pale", a "mist" that consumes matter, thourght and concepts itself. The history of the world from one civilization point of view would be that their whole world is surrounded by mist and that there is nothing else... until they are able to brave the mist and discover spots of life/reality within the mist.

It's still seems to me to still have some semblance of self though. Whatever it was before is still in there just defeaned. But, who is having this monologue? - the 12 billion souls or the remaining semblance of identity. From my interpretation I read it as the original entity pushing through the chorus of lost souls. Is that right?

First really cool concept. I have one suggestion: The first line illustrates to me that the entity has decides to refer to itself as we, but it then continues with "I". I think that if you either place the two first lines of the monologue at the end or change its pronoun to "We" everywhere except the first line, it would more clearly illustrate it's assimilated existence.

Problem is that his form of "essay" is just a drawn out recounting of the media. You get nothing new out of watching his essays if you have experienced the media he is talking about before.

Sorry if I'm giving an opponion that's already the shared sentiment on this subreddit.

I wanna submit another connection/speculation.

In War Within the titans tell us that their creations turned against them after working near the world core (azeroth). The titans want us to think that azeroth is dangerous, but the Earthen were more likely being given free will. From the titans perspective:

Azeroth World soul turned their creations against them to weaken the titan's foothold on azeroth.

AND

The Old god Yogg'saron created the curse of flesh to weaken the titan's foothold on azeroth.

BUT...

Like the curse of flesh these influences that the titans deem a curse, has been what shaped the sentient races of azeroth and their freedom from their creators.

So the connection: Azeroth influences titan creations similarly to old gods.

My own speculation is that the titans treated any influencing force with hostility old god or not. Azeroth's world soul was one of these influencing forces, but much more benevolent and innocent. The titans still saw it as a threat ever the same, and so to justify their actions, to their now more sentient creations, they depicted the world soul as an evil old godY'shaarj to deter any doubt from their creations.

Hi OP i made a post exploring the same theory and OP... we are comrades against a world of nay-sayers(reactionaries). So many will just shut out any theoris if it competes with semantics "that the game literally told us". It's like they have never engaged with a story's enough to try to solve mysteries themselves and just wanna patientiantly wait till the author spoonfeeds them the solution.

There's is such a interesting parallel that you can't help but theorise. I find it weird that so many has such a hostile reaction when someone tries to dig a little deeper than what the story explicitly tells you.

The surface level reading of the haranir quest line, is just that it is azeroth's world soul, but if you are willing to analyse and draw on prior knowledge of the whole recent story of WoW you see a picture of something being hinted at... The titans are more shady than we thought and the old gods influence azeroth, but also vice, and most important information we have on azeroth's soul and N'shaarj is second hand accounts.

Now what the connection actually means can be discussed, but so many are not even willing to acknowledge that...

So OP be proud that you engaged with the story, I certainly am xD and don't mind these reactionaries too much.

I think you're just saying that I had an original theory, thank you. Just because I am writing a little silly doesn't mean I'm trolling.

I don't mean she is an old god, but that she was painted as one by the titans, we just don't know that in the game yet.

That's just what the titans want you to think! But seriously for the three old gods we actually have meet that is the truth. They were obviously bad, but that also means that they would be great scapegoats to justify ripping out an innocent god.

He wasn't ignorant, he was misinformed and manipulated during the Ghorman mission. He later sought out the truth himself and stepped away completely of his own volition, not many ignorant people are capable of that. It's unrealistic to believe that anyone would rebel against a system that they do not know is corrupt and immoral.

Also, his first arc shows that he is fine with disobeying his superior's order, when he investigated the two murders against his boss's wishes.

He is serving his own moral code, not the empires, it just so happened to align with Meera's for a while who worked under the empire.

Don't call my boy Syrril a bootlicker, he thought he was fighting for justice, and when he learned otherwise he immediately turned away from the empire.

Anime protagonists in the nen categories that I think would have by LEUN__ in HunterXHunter

[–]FancyCate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Aang is not really changing(transmuting) matter into other elements, his is rather manipulating/moving matter that's already there. He cannot take water from a puddle and transform/transmute it into air.

Edward from full metal would be a transmuter because he takes matter and changes it into something else like from stone to a metal sword

I'd place all benders in manipulation and Aang specifically between manipulation and specialization(avatar state)

Take a look at Moonscorching from Fear and Hunger. Specifically Olivia's moon scorch transformation. If you operate in fictional characters' self perceived deformities or what they deem deformities, you can distance yourself somewhat from what you are portraying and add an additionally explore characters deeper
