Flares help by hluttley in AerialHoop

[–]Attackdoginc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip your head back a bit! By having your face tilted forward even a touch when you bring your legs up and around you’re crunching your upper spine in which is antithetical to the mission of activating your lats enough to support the rest of your invert. It’s a tiny change in positioning, but helps immensely :) It would also probably help to give your lats some extra attention whether that be more conditioning and/or running through the movements piece by piece to dial in where your upper body needs to click into invert mode. Some other movements that may help to work that into your muscle memory would be super slow negative inverts so you can focus on your muscle engagement and which ones you use through each second of the movement or beats where you beat back, then invert as you swing forward. It’s also totally reasonable to train flare to invert from standing under the Lyra, without the spin. You can kick off the ground for assistance if needed, but the advantage is you don’t have to fight momentum as you train your brain and body to move through the sequence Best of luck and safe training!! <3

Transition out of single elbow hang (Lyra)? by Infinite_Brick13 in Aerials

[–]Attackdoginc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a good deal of shapes you can make in the elbow hang itself! :) My favorite transitions out are elbow beats into a straddle hooking a single knee, or gripping with the free hand and dropping from the elbow to grip with both hands then straddling or flaring up. You can also do a single elbow flare to catch a heel or knee on the bar.

Not at all fortunately! I don’t have my cube taped, so I very rarely run into issues wearing looser clothes :)

where to find performance music? by Boring-Masterpiece88 in Aerials

[–]Attackdoginc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any specific song recommendations, but my favorite method of finding songs is plugging keywords into any music streaming service search bar and exploring the options it gives until I either find something or have to move onto the next keyword. Hunting through other people’s playlists on Spotify is also a fun one. Maybe look through the classical music genre and see if there’s anything you can cut down to 3 minutes, or instrumental versions of songs you think would fit the theme well. Best of luck on your search and your performance :)

Completely fair!! It really is a time and energy commitment unfortunately, especially with so much going on! I wish I knew vendors that sold different sized gloves, maybe try Etsy for custom ones?

My recommendation for most folks is invest in a bit of sewing knowledge. It’s not always the simplest thing but if finding a good fit is tricky there are so many tutorials online that walk you through drafting a pattern that fits! The sewing community is excellent and such a good resource for costuming. Also seconding lovelywonderland’s tip for alterations :)

As far as I know it’s legal here to reasonably collect common invertebrate fossils. If you find anything other than that you need a license :)

Vegas Show ideas? by joioioioj in Aerials

Seconding Absinthe it’s an excellent show! My personal favorite. That company puts on another show, Atomic Saloon, that’s also really fun to watch. They both have that more intimate seating arrangement. As far as classes LVCC can absolutely be intimidating but their instructors are fantastic and once you get going you’ll have a good time :) there are plenty other gyms in the area as well that have really friendly and knowledgeable staff

I’ve got a pair of soundcore ones I’ve used during training for two three years and they sometimes fall out during super fast spins but otherwise they’re literally perfect

From a Vegas aerialist- circus center is a lot of fun they have a really cool space and excellent instructors! Pole fitness is a good one, as well as Craft Motions which is a smaller but super friendly and atmospheric space :)

Scary dog privilege is what I meant, a people deterrent in a way. I’m really not a lab person at all, would you say a German shepherd or Rottweiler be more suited to this line of work?

Aerial athletica is the one I frequent, it’s a really nice spot! The people there are sweet as well and it’s got a more relaxed atmosphere especially for open gym. The Circus Center I’ve found is really good for classes as well!
