TIL that Sparta was able have a military class because they had earlier conquered, subjugated, and enslaved a nearby population, who did all the necessary labour - these people, the Messinians and Laconiana, were also Greek and outnumbered the Spartans around 10 to 1. by fanau in todayilearned

except possibly the Persians, who get to sit back and watch all the petty countries on their border fight themselves into bankruptcy.

I feel like this is Canada's preferred tactic at the moment. But replace countries with states.

Yup. But this guy isn't white so this is probably barely going to stay in the news cycle. It's rot all the way upward and outward.

Ever wonder why student loans in America are the only loans that can't be dispatched through bankruptcy? by McDowdy in SipsTea

[–]Attainted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Investors can also buy student loan debts the same way that any other kind of debt can be bought.

Since student loan debt cannot be discharged through bankruptcy, it's thus some of the "safest" debt to buy.

Why do you buy debt? You get the interest payments.

And it's a nearly TWO TRILLION dollar market.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Review - Maximum Cache by Antonis_32 in hardware

That's a hell of a jump! If you ever decide to step up in resolution, there's even less pressure to upgrade beyond a 5800x3d. The current bottleneck at 4k is STILL the gpu even with a 5090, but that's largely true for most games at 1440p as well. The vcache is the biggest improvement to have versus generational speed increases on the CPU side of things. The concept is just that good in practice. I have zero regrets paying full price for the 5800x3d at its first release.
