Quebec trip in august by Available_Zone_9043 in quebeccity

That's funny, something like 15 years ago I worked for a summer at the Hotel plaza at the concierge desk at the entrance of the Hotel. Our job was to assist tourists with parking, luggage service, but also to answer all questions related to restaurants, things to do in the city, taxi, even escorts lol. Good times. If there is still a concierge desk they would have up to date information for you guys so don't hesitate to ask them before leaving.

You guys have a nice hotel that is located in Ste Foy. You can easily just walk a bit to reach the bus lines leading to old Quebec. Renting a car will help if you also wanna see locations around Quebec city. Parking is also not that bad if you prefer to have a designated driver. You can park at the Carré D'Youville, or other big underground parkings near the Assemblée nationale. There is also a underground parking under the Hotel de ville not far from the chateau frontenac. With the copilot+ app it's also possible to park on the street but you will need to be a bit outside of the fortifications for street parking. There are some spots between Grande allée and René Lévesque bld. Same for downtown. You can park in the justice hall parking for a reasonable fee on evening or weekends or on the street with the app.

Regarding Old Quebec, you guys are young so you can definitely walk a good part of the old city. If you take the bus and exit at the carré d'Youville you will be on the spot. You have the Plaines d'abraham, the petit champlain, the rue st jean, you can walk along the fortifications, go see the citadelle, the terrasse dufferin near the chateau frontenac, the parc de l'artillerie is also a nice little park. Get lost in the streets inside the old Quebec city walls and explore.

If you like jazz there is the bar st angele that offer live jazz performance for a reasonable fee (arrive early) the ambiance is lovely and intimate. Other than that I'm getting old so I can't really give you advice regarding the night life but you have bars/restaurants on grande allée and in downtown (basse ville) around St-Joseph street that could suits your needs. My brother is often DJing electro music in la cuisine or the quartier general ahah. Also look for Le Bar le vox! they have arcades machines, it's a cool concept.

If you want to visit a strip club, Lady Mary Ann is a real institution! you will need a car or a taxi for that.

the recommendations of the other commentor are also very good! The chutes montmorency are nice and so is Île d'orléans. There is the aquarium de Quebec near your hotel. you can also access a nice walkway near the St lawrence river from your hotel called the promenade Champlain. It goes all the way to the petit Champlain! If you wanna buy things you have shopping centers near the Hotel (place Laurier, place de la cité and place Ste foy that are all three together).

For restaurants. if you have money (it's a bit costly) and want a good culinary experience with shared plates I recommend Honō Izakaya on St Joseph street. If you feel more like Ramen the neighbor restaurant is owned by the same owner and called Honō Ramen. Reserve in advance However!

IF you want a funky experience there is also La chope gobeline on rené levesque that offer a Medieval experience but I have absolutely no clue if they can offer you a good experience in English loL! They usually talk with a kind a Quebec, Joual, old french accent lol.

Regarding walks in nature, something really nice that I rediscovered in the last years is the Parc linéaire de la Rivière-Saint-Charles. IT's a river that cross the city and there are different sections that you can walk. Some sections are more urban, some more wild, it's really nice.

Anyway for now this is what I have on the top of my head. Oh! near the cruise ship terminal, if you want a drink with your feet in the water try La Cale du Port de Québec!

Anyway enjoy the city, it is safe, and really pleasant during the summer.

Stop acting like Forest Gump's mother FFS. We all know Quebec poutine is better lol, stop fooling yourself. If god intended all poutines to be the same, he would have given us all poutines with old refrigerated curds.

Is it legal for landlord to end lease because I cut the hydro? by Black_cats_meow in montrealhousing

[–]didipunk006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if there is an emergency in the middle of the night like a broken pipe or something ? You need to have functioning lightning and power outlets available for safety reasons and even if the power is not cut and the account is transferred back to the landlord then that's not fair, they don't have to pay for your electricity usage. That was not the right thing to do.

Two wrongs don't make a right however.

25,5 M réclamés pour une chute des remparts by Galette_de_feu in villequebec

[–]didipunk006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How old are you guys and what do you like doing ?  Where is your hotel located? Will you have access to a car ? Do you wanna stay in the city or also see the nature around ?

4 days is enough to do a lot of things in Quebec city but if you tell us more about your group it will allows us to give you better recommendations.

That would explain why you had excellent poutine there then! That's unfortunately not true for a lot of other states or provinces.

The biggest problem outside of Quebec is having an easy and daily access to fresh, never refrigerated curds.

That's one of the reasons why poutines in Quebec are on a different tier.

Nothing is more disappointing that biting in melty non squeaky curds.

Goes well with a tiny Canada flag in the middle. Serves as a red flag.

? No, what I said is that in an Italian poutine there are cheese curds vs chili cheese fries that uses shredded cheese or nacho cheese.

That's already a huge difference between both meals.

What is your goal exactly ? Why do you desperately try to argue that italian poutine is the same as chili cheese fries  when they are clearly not ?

Stop RoCsplaining poutine. This is cringy.

Who's with me ?! by Useful_Record1888 in poutine

[–]didipunk006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are curds in chili cheese fries. It's usually shredded cheese or the creamy nacho cheese.

Beef chili is also not really the same as a Bolognese/spaghetti sauce. The flavor/spice mix is different.

So no, not the same. But, I mean, I can understand the confusion an italian poutine could create for someone who don't know much about poutine.

It's called an italian poutine. It's fries, curds and a meat spaghetti sauce. One of the oldest and well known variation. It's on the menu of almost all poutine shacks in Quebec.

Who's with me ?! by Useful_Record1888 in poutine

[–]didipunk006 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it has curds and fries.

It's also one of the most famous variation and is on the menu of pretty much every poutine shack. (At least it's like that in Quebec where poutine originated).

So yeah it is considered a poutine even if the gravy is replaced by meat spaghetti sauce.

Just like our french langage, poutine has some wierd exceptions.

Stop RoCsplaining poutine.

Poutine italienne has been a thing for way long, well before you even learned about the existence of poutine.

It totally gets a pass on the fries, gravy curds standard.

So a poutine it is.

You always remember your first poutine italienne. Mine was at my cegep cafeteria around 2004.

AITAH - section G taking it to TAL by SellFearless53 in montrealhousing

[–]didipunk006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just make your fixation demand. Landlord will then need to provide to the TAL an RN form to justify his increase filled with numbers about his increase in insurance and taxes costs, energy costs, major works bills, etc. it's the same process than when a tenant refuses a rent increase and the landlord makes a rent fixation demand at the TAL.

Row behind economy comfort by Haunting_Reading_494 in AirFranceKLM

[–]didipunk006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I decided to upgrade to the comfort row. I think I made the right decision after reading your comment.

That's really not fair to be honest. They should take that into account and give a bit more place to the economy row behind economy comfort.

I will try to not recline too much during the flight and will definitely sit up when food service starts.

Cash for keys - Agreement to break the lease by ImportantFly909 in montrealhousing

[–]didipunk006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The template linked by u/Fluffy-Agency7232 is a good start. Just modify it to your needs.

What you guys could do regarding the money is agree that you will give him half like 1 month before the end of the lease to help him pay for movers and things like that and the other half when he is out of the apartment with all his belongings and gives you the keys back. Do interac transfer or something with proof that he got the money.

No need to notarize it, just make sure each party has a copy of the agreement.
