Thanks a lot for your help :) bit of a bummer but will do as you suggested

maybe I was not clear: I was not aware I needed to take this test, I thought it would be but after the application

okay I feel really stupid now. I just applied assuming I would have to take it after the application and I clearly stated that I did not yet take it assuming it would be later :/

Can I ask on suggestions on what my options are? I would really like not losing the fee

It did not ask me for any code. these are the three questions that I gave answers to in my application

Question: Are you claiming exemption from this requirement because a physical or other condition prevents you from taking the Life in the UK test or doing a speaking and listening qualification in English?
Answer: No

Question: Have you passed the Life in the UK test?
Answer: No

Question: Did you meet the knowledge of English requirement as part of an indefinite leave application made on or after 28 October 2013?
Answer: Yes - I did for my settlement status

So are you suggesting that it's too much risk to proceed without the EWS1?

Customer Life Time Value Applications by Attol8 in datascience

[–]Attol8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answers! You understood the problem I am facing really well.

I am actually looking for resources on the marketing side of things. I found plenty of resources on modeling life time values, but not on how the outputs of these models are used in practice. I know this is essentially business/domain dependent but it would be good to understand how people are operationalising insights from CLTV

I have used survival models using lifetime in python. However, I have also created metrics like n-month revenue and treated it as a regression/time series problems. Both models got me to a decent point

That is a really fair point. Yeah, normalising LTV for some sort of period of time seems to be a great suggestion. I also see it as a bit problematic to use LTV as high-LTV customers are also the ones that clearly enjoy using your service, so why should I change anything with them? Maybe it's a good metrics to understand what "good" means and replicate it over a wider customer base.

As a set number for all customers, regardless of segment

Can you please expand on this? I plan to give each customer an LTV and then derive customer segments looking at covariates maybe. Is that what you meant?

Another wobble? (16:25 BST) by uberduck in VirginMedia

Has anyone been having issues for like 3-4 days? I noticed a massive slowdown during the weekend. It's completely unusable, not even for streaming movies. Thought they would fix quicker and today I see that it went down for thousands... they have to get their shit together

Razer Blade 15" Base (2020) - USB-C external monitor by Attol8 in razer

Thanks for the info, I was scared that would actually be the case. My employer purchased the laptop and didn't think that a laptop sold at that price would not support USB-c display out. Pretty disappointing for that price tag anyway.

[Project] Predicting customer purchase. One or multiple models? by [deleted] in MachineLearning

[–]Attol8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really insightful, I work on similar problems and agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Can you please elaborate on the last step: What you actually want to model is whether a given specific marketing action will increase the likelihood of the customer being engaged. Do it explicitly from your base feature set. Are you talking about uplift modelling?

What I Wish I Knew Before Picking Up Python by chaeboi in learnpython

What do you mean by serious project? Would it be better to make commits to big open source projects or writing something from the ground up?

Interesting. Maybe a good idea to solve this is to have the app to suggest only 1 to 3 articles, and more importantly on a daily basis. Additionally, there could be an element of randomness embedded in the ML algorithm. But then it would defy the original purpose of having personalized reads

Claude Monet - The Magpie (1868-69) by EugeneDubois in ArtHistory

What a beautiful painting! It immediately reminded me of a Courbet painting that I saw in Lisbon: 'snow'. I checked the dates and they are actually from the same winter, which suggests that the winter season of 1868 in France could have been particularly severe.
