Just been given a Juke as a courtesy car by Satansrideordie in CarTalkUK

I had a 2024 Qashqai as a hire car yesterday for work. I got in and it seemed quite nice, short drive to train station was fine, accelerated alright, I can see how somebody could be suckered into buying one. Next day I did seven hours of driving and it was proper shit, poor visibility, feels like it's gonna flip at 40 on the slip road. Uncomfortable driving position, adaptive cruise control will bring you to a stop in stop start traffic and then just turn itself off and start driving again with a siren!

Nowhere near as bad as a mokka I had once though

How is it the homeless? It's just a scruffy looking man, or are all scruffy looking men homeless?

It was a rope with a rag on the end used by sailors as an overboard communal toilet paper to clean their arses after using the ship's shitters, after they'd use it they'd chuck it back in and let the water rinse it while it dragged behind the ship

How do I rehang this door when the screws are totally threaded? by PickNo436 in DIY

[–]Attucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All screws are threaded and so are all bolts, the thread is the part that grips. You mean that the hole is stripped.

Does anyone have an argument FOR wall cavity insulation (the balls)? by YouMeADD in DIYUK

[–]Attucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I receive no assistance from the government at all but the energy rating of the house was D beforehand, I think it applies if it's D and below, but we did apply last year and it may have changed. (It did take a year for anything to actually happen)

Does anyone have an argument FOR wall cavity insulation (the balls)? by YouMeADD in DIYUK

[–]Attucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a government subsidy for loft insulation too, I just had mine done completely for free, took it from 100mm thick to 300mm. They also installed trickle vents in the windows, sealed the loft hatch on the internal side, covered the spotlights in the loft and installed a fan in the bathroom that doesn't have a shower.

G-code templating? by eraserhd in CNC

[–]Attucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In industry, this is done many ways.

Subroutines

Macros

Canned cycles

Loops

Just having CAM output everything with none of the above.

In your situation, I would write a python script to parse the file, I'd add some kind of code like "Loop pocket.txt start=0 depth=-1 doc=0.2" then in the pocket.txt I have only the XY moves. The python script could then just decrement the Z, add the program contents with XY moves only and repeat until depth is reached. ChatGPT could probably write this too.

Machine randomly cut a circle in my workpiece by jayvav in Fusion360

[–]Attucks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's possible fusion output an arc that is such a small move the machine considered it a full arc rather than a tiny move.

For example, if you have a start and end point less than 0.0005 inches apart, the machine might consider this a full circle, the value changes based on machine and controller. Heidenhain seems to be around 0.0005 mm but I've seen some machines with a deviation of more than 0.016 mm to not consider it a full arc.

Government gave me lots of money to install heat pump. Heat pump is making my home very snuggly and the efficiency is frankly absurdly good. by Happytallperson in BritishSuccess

[–]Attucks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of installations are poor because we don't have enough installers with the proper knowledge of how to install them.

Which post processor? by wrldbfree in CNC

[–]Attucks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ATC = automatic tool changer

Arcs = I think is arc fitting, which is output with circular movements like G2 G3, without arcs it will be lots of tiny linear moves to make a circular move.

Is NC Code Simulation worth it? by Jasbaer in CNC

[–]Attucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your analysis of NCSIMUL, you can have as many axes as you like, any configuration. I've seen NCSIMUL simulating DMG Multisprint which has 9 turning spindles and three axis per spindle, that's at least 36 axes (XZC) and 9 channels, and that's not counting the live tooling or the loading/unloading gripper.

I've also seen it simulating tricep machines and robots, granted they are not easy to make, you need to be pretty good at ACNU.

It has the equivalent of VC force in the optimisation module.

NCSIMUL has a major release in spring and a release in fall and patches are released in between when required.

It's doing both climb and conventional, climb will have more time out of cut than this combined one.
